I think the Walker is probably the quietest thing that will drop in. I still think it's annoying, but what I think is annoying is probably different. When I think "quiet" I really do mean that I do not want to hear the exhaust.
-
I still find it to be annoyingly loud.
-
Damn, this is an old one. If anyone is wondering what I ended up with, it's that same Walker. And it's still too loud for me.

Yeah. Like the vinyl seats that somehow aren't completely destroyed!

Does yours play a jingle every time you use it too?

I'd be concerned about a hidden clutch master cylinder leak if this is a manual vehicle, just because it's such a common and potentially debilitating problem. If it's an automatic, someone probably just jammed a fuse in too tight or otherwise abused the fuse contacts. For what it's worth, the fuse slots on my automatic '91 are very tight.

A vehicle that has been modified in this way is, in my experience, an absolute nightmare to work on. Consider yourself warned.

Neat video on the mechanical airbag system in '95 and '96 XJs: -

I'm back at my PC now so I can make some more detailed observations. First off, the CPS year range for the oval Chrysler-style connector you have appears to be 93-96, and then it changed again. So ask the parts guy for a CPS for a '96 and you should be good to go. But to be 100% sure, get us a picture of the ECU on the left front fender well. If there's a sticker on it with numbers, that would be helpful too. The parts on your truck appear to be '96 parts "massaged" to fit in some places with the original '89 parts. See the A/C lines. The bigger of the two A/C lines coming from the compressor is called the suction line. That A/C suction line is not supposed to be shaped in a spiral. What I'm trying to tell you is that the quality of the workmanship is in question here. And whoever did that fun (but innocent) little hackjob was probably the same guy who swapped in the (very likely live) airbag right in front of your face. That particular airbag system is pretty much self contained (the "crash sensor" is in the airbag itself), so I'm almost willing to think that was a good thing. But be careful around it, and don't hesitate to ask questions. I would assume nothing on this truck is original unless you have clear evidence otherwise. -

The MAP sensor also appears to be on the throttle body. That was a 96 and up thing. -

That's absolutely not a 91 or 92 CPS connector. It changed at least one more time after 91, but I don't have access to anything that would conclusively prove when. The steering column he has was used in XJs in 95 and 96. That cluster could have been from a 96 as well. My educated guess - we're looking at a drivetrain and electronics swap from a 96. -
My second shot was yesterday. I spent most of today in bed on account of a migraine that wouldn't go away, but I think I'm starting to feel better now.

Those are 4WD rotors. 2WD front axles have "captive" front rotors which the wheel bearings fit into. You'll need to specifically order rotors for a 2WD truck. The "clips" the mechanic refers to can be called several things, but "anti rattle clips" or "pad support springs" are probably the most common.

You didn't forget the anaerobic sealant on the main bearing cap, did you?

Already got it covered there. I find it works well enough as long as I don't forget to use it.

I was going to post something on the 8th to mark a whole year of my situation, but this is close enough I guess. Last seizure was still the 1st of the year. I've been using the last month or so to slowly... sloooooowly transition into things I'd normally find myself doing, which includes getting my diet back in check and occasionally doing things that require physical exertion. I've been trying to figure out if there's been any long-term changes in the way I act, feel, or engage with the world. I can think of a few things: Things that I've been told to change or not do: - Don't take antihistamines, which sucks as an allergy sufferer in what may be the allergy capital of the world - Don't drink alcohol or use any recreational drugs, which I didn't do before anyway - Be especially careful about my hydration level, especially during any kind of physical exertion I've taken a couple of pretty hard knocks to the head as a result of this, including what I'm pretty sure was a major concussion the first time. So I've constantly been worried about any brain damage I might have picked up and what effects that might have. Of course, I doubt I'd really be able to tell, but across the board I would say I'm just not quite as "sharp" as I used to be - It seems like I always have a little bit of trouble finding the right word to finish a sentence, and I'm just slower than I used to be overall. Hopefully my personality hasn't changed. That's something I really doubt I'd be able to tell. Kind of relying on you guys for this one to make sure I haven't turned into a raging a$$hole. Could be worse, I guess.

All I needed to hear to know it was a good decision.

Damn it! I was gonna post exactly the same thing. Geoff...

Yeah, I did that stuff back in college, but I'm rusty. It's mostly just the fact that it's on the list of things I want to do, but there are things way higher on the list that compete for my time.
