  1. If it has the V6 it is a 84-86 XJ not a 88. No TCU on the 904 trans.
  2. Maks sure it is working properly and not stuck on or off. Do your brake lights work?
  3. Check the brake light switch. It will shut off TCC lock up also.
  4. Pull the front driveshaft to be safe
  5. Check your ball joints and wheel bearings.
  6. I was doing about 45 mph when I saw the herd of deer in the road. I stood on the binders and plowed into her at roughly 35-40 mph. I wish I had pictures of the Jeep. She was only about 110 lb deer also.
  7. A cheap grill guard will do nothing against a deer strike. It will fold up just as easy as a sheet metal body panels. Unless you pony up for a good off road bumper you are going to get nothing other than a light holder. I hit a deer with my WJ that had a ARB bull bar on the front and the deer destroyed my $900 bumper and caused $1000 worth of damage to the Jeep.
  8. Thread will be locked. Please start a new one with payment and shipping information once they are ready for market.
  9. Call either RWK HAUS SUPPLY in California or SBC Offroad in Georgia. They are by far the best deals out there.
  10. Kill switch to the ground behind the tail light, kill switch on the coil hot wire, kill switch on the starter feed wire.
  11. I guess HUSKY and their engineers have no idea what they are doing either. This hitch uses even fewer mounting points. It has two on the sides and one on the bottom of each leg. Not to mention the receiver tube is... bolted on! The legs mount to the inside of the frame rails. I had to drill the holes and fish the captured bolts into the rails. Can you imagine they even slapped a load rating on this death trap? What is going on is the exact same reason JCR quit building MJ parts. If the nay sayers are such good fabricators and engineers, than build a better product and bring it to market.
  12. 2.5, auto with 4:56s is not a rumor. I have them in my 86. While rare they are out there.
  13. I tried the JK route on my truck. It ultimately ended up costing me $700 for new wheels and tires. I personally think 17s or larger wheels are too much for a M/XJ wheel well.
  14. My God! SO, irregardless and bae! What the actual F#&$? I hate those three words anywhere in a sentence!
  15. My take on it. Lift it. My truck rides great and handles just as I expect it to. Do the lift right and it will ride great. I have a 4.5" lift and 265/75R16 tires. I had to do minor trimming to the flares and bumper caps to take advantage of the full flex available. Trimming can be cut back slightly by using more bump stopping. My lift consists of FRONT 4.5" Rubicon Express coils, Rough Country drop brackets, stock control arms, JKS adjustable track bar, WJ Front sway bar links, Honda Accord rear lower control arms modified to hold the WJ sway bar links, 28MM ZJ sway bar, V8 ZJ steering linkages, extended brake lines, cheap shocks (those are getting replaced with Bilstien 5100s), 4 hockey pucks per side used as bump stops REAR 4.5" Hell Creek standard load leaf packs, Extended brake line, cheap shocks (those are getting replaced with Bilstien 5100s), 2x4" tubing used for rear bump stop extensions I have about $500 in my lift. Everything but the rear leaves and shocks were bought used or found in a junk yard.
  16. I posted this same subject about 2 years ago. I found cracks at all four corners on my 86. I still have not fixed it. It has been sitting torn apart for years now. Once I finish my 89 I'll get back on it. My plan was to stop drill the crack and weld them up. I was also going to fish plate the corners to keep it from happening again.
  17. Mine rubbed with 245/75r16s at full lock and on the fenders under flex. Rubbed like crazy with the 265/75r16s. I had to run 1.5" spacers and trim my fenders and bumper caps.
  18. I was in this same boat. By the time I priced steel, wire, gas, electric and all the other things needed to make my own it came out cheaper to just buy the Nate's rear bumper. I have my stocker on right now until I can con Nate into building sliders for a SWB MJ.

You can always have a member here go look at a potential buy and get an honest opinion from them. I think this is a better way as they would not have their heart set on buying one and being blinded by the sight of one.
  20. My hell creek springs took over a year to settle.
  21. That is for a 97+ XJ firewall but that is roughly where I punched mine through.
  22. I'd clean up that 2 door and send it off for a big profit! Then find a 4 door as a donor.
  23. He is going to be really pissed when the new leaf packs settle and the axle gets pushed back 7/8". They are designed to move in an arch. When new the tire sits closer to the front. As they settle the tire will be centered in the wheel arch.
