  1. I have never liked the the in radiator tranny coolers and always try to bypass them when possible . You don't need to plug the ports when your done but can if you want to , just flush them out with some break clean to keep the residual from making a mess .I also like to use 3/8 brake line and bend it nice and neat and use some short pieces of hose to connect to the cooler , but that's usually with aftermarket coolers . As for the 4.0 setup I'm not sure what the stock setup is like as I don't have one but the process is similar .
  2. Ooo.. ok . so how those bumpers coming along? :shake:
  3. Well I'm not going to make it , I'm gona be in Chico at a wedding . I would realy love to make one of these sometime especially if we could get one a little closer as I don't have any mj friends near me and would love to hang out with some of the guys on here. Hopefully next time!!
  4. I had something similar happen once on my 2.8 manch after replacing the coolant and t stat and tried bleeding the air and I checked the t stat and replaced it a couple of times aswell and nothing helped. What I eventually did was drill a small 1/16 hole in the oute rim on the t stat and that solved that problem . I never before had such a hard time bleeding air befor that , that was annoying .
  5. That sucks about the poison oak , I'm lucky that I'm immuned to it so I can't help much but my brother is deathly allergic to it and he always just used calamine lotion . Onetime when I was 10 and my bro was 13 he pised me off realy bad (he picked on me alot back then) when we were at the park by the house so I walked home and went out in the back yard which is all forest and grabbed some poison oak root and all and went in to his room and rubbed it all over his underware , folded it all and put it back like I found it and tossed the evidence over the fence and waited . Later the next day my plan started to unfold and it was bad , every nook and cranny was engulfed in puss filled scabs etc.. When my mom asked me if I knew what happened, I stood up in front of my mom and bro and told them what i did and why I did it . My bro never messed with me again .
  6. Ya I remember those , we had those on our old Crown school buses (the bus that looks like a Twinkie) my Ramcharger has one on it but it has a plastic housing not the aluminum ones . We still have a small box of those things hanging around work and they are still readily available from our local Truck Parts store but they are kinda pricy IIRC.
  7. If the ball joint checks out good , then get some new seals and stick them on and what ever you do don't get the cheap universal seals off the help shelf at the part store . Do your self a favor and measure the old seal and order a replacement from "energy suspension" , they are polyurethane and won't fall apart in a month like the cheap chines ones will Trust me! I have used the cheap ones before and they suck but the Polly ones are awsome , iv been using them for a couple years now at work and have tested them on everything from our trucks and tractors to the school busses .
  8. Yer killing me ! Yer first post and only a pic , atleast throw in some stats on the truck and maybe a location in yer sig etc... it's a good looking truck and I love the paint scheme but we need more . Feel free to throw in an intro aswell .
  9. Drove the manch to work today and removed the T.B. Brace for primer and paint and reassembled . I also found out the other day that it's due for smog this month so I need to probably replace the cat at the least but I I don't know , I might just take it down and hope it passes but it didn't want to pass last time but fortunately my budy owns the shop :brows: so that helps  .
  10. Sorry to hear that , the worst part is Wayne Hanson him self ( the guy that started it all) is no longer apart of the business and hasn't been for a wile so the "family" that has taken over is just smearing his name and he is an awesome guy to hang with (just bring a bottle of crown and a case of beer). As for the fabrication time etc.. Last I here most if not all of the products are laser cut and bent by an outside company and then assembled in house so ... Now as for who else makes a MJ specific rear bumper I don't know , maby call JCR and see if they have any stock left ?
  11. When I swapped out the 2 piece shaft for a 1 piece I just cleaned the housing out really good and installed some Alloy Tube Seals and overfilled the diff by about a half quart and ran it like that for allmost 2 years . After that I got it regeard and the shop put in the approiate seal but I don't know the # .
  12. did you mod your hinges for removable doors wile dooing this? would have been the best time for it ! by the way thats a great tip.
  13. Well it seams i havent updated this in a wile , mostly caus i havent done anything to it but i decided to drag out from the back yard a couple weeks ago and have been useing it as my dd for fun . I did manage to get to work on it yesterday and finaly build my track bar brace and since i finaly made me a photobucket account as i maxed out picture trail i can post some pics. Well once i got it on the lift and got a plan i got started , now from what iv found from other people is that they just utilize the lower track bar holes that already exist on the passengers side of the frame but when i grabed them with my fingers and wiggled a bit you could see movement and that just aint gona cut it for me . So i decided to drill out the upper holes for the track bar mount on the passenger side (as the blankes are there and visable from the inside of the frame) so i could plate it and make it nice and strong. it helped having the stock mount laying around , i eyeball measured the hole location , clamped the mount and drilled a 1/8" locator hole , i hit center on the second try and then opened it up to a 1/2" using a unabit . next i torched out a piece of 1/4" plate , cleaned it up , bent it to the desired size , marked and drilled the holes and test fit it. once that was done i cut a piece of 2" .250 dom , chucked it in the lath and faced and chamfered both sides . then i used a 1 1/2" hole saw and cut a piece of 1/4"plate to fillin the bottom and welded it in place , then i chucked it back in the lath and re faced it just enuf to make it flat again. once i did all that i drilled a 5/8" hole and welded a 5/8" nut on the inside and bolted it together next i drilled a 1 1/2" hole in the frame to accomadate the welded nut with everything in place i mocked up the piece of 1" 3/16" square tubing i was using for the bar , i bent it for max clearance using a special bending die i made to fit my hobo freight bender once i had it where i wanted it i burned it in It came out better than i planned , and as for the track bar side itself i had already made a 1" steel slug to weld to . I may add another attaching point at the track bar side later but for now it works.
  14. Well thats just great :fs2: , iv been developing that same idea for the last 7 months as a way to supplement some lost income but now Iv got to scrap that idea aswell , I just can't seem to get a break. I suppose I need to start thinking outside the box . :dunno:
  15. There was an older guy that I wheeled with back in high school that had these on his red XJ that I liked alot but I never could find them. They look verry nice !!

That was Awsome ! Dosnt get more 80s than that.
  17. Ya , how much more do you need ? Now iv got around 9" of lift and mine were prety streched so I lowered mine and moved it back and has worked out quite well . About a quarter of the way down on page 2 you will find what I did viewtopic.php?f=7&t=5484&hilit=Project+fubar
  18. Get some "Lizard Skin" it's a spray on material and comes in 2 separate parts the sound deadening and heat shield . It's kinda expensive but a little goes a long way. http://m.summitracing.com/search/Brand/LizardSkin
  19. I found one of those in a P&P about 10 years ago and thought it looked cool , it had a gold colored tag on the dash stating what it was and it had a big number on it , I thought I took the tag off but I can't remember . Man if I only knew then what I know now
  20. Congrats ! On the new baby , enjoy them wile they are young. What part of Montana you from ?
  21. Me and my dad stayed in Nashville on the way to and from North Carolina and both times we ate at this place called "The C#*@ Of The Walk" , the food was good And the people were entertaining (lots of cat fish and chicken) and yes it's a real place look it up , one thing we were going to do was go on a tour or the Jack Daniels distillery but we didn't have the time . You could always look for the "Power Block" shop and bust some doughnuts in the parking lot :brows: I hear they are around there
  22. Did you adjust the steering linkage to compensate for the lift? The pitman arm needs to basically point straight forward when the wheels are pointed straight .
  23. You still got all your motor mounts and trans mount?
  24. Haha ! Ya I got caught chasing squirrels to and came across that in a round about way , it's crazy that he took pics that soon after . I want to know how long after that did he go to the hospital ?
