2wd is the same. Check everything, also check steering stabilizer for leaks, age. If it's shot it can't do it's job. Even look at the shocks, just because.

I'd like to bring up a small point of view. I've sold a few Cherokees over the years. I got more for the modified ones than I did for the ones left stock. The modified ones sold faster too. Bear in mind it has been a few years since I've done this, and results would probably not be the same in todays market place being there are so many modified XJ's now available. I would think with the smaller amount of nice MJ's available a stock one could be more desirable, but one with minor mods (say done right 3 inch lift 31's) could be more desirable to a good portion of buyers.

This is close as far as longer doors, but the extended cab looks like cut up XJ to me, clearly not the back of an MJ cab. I'd only want to do one stretch or the other, not both.
-
I don't want a 4 door anyway. So cutting up and XJ certainly won't be what I would do. I would like just a little more leg room and maybe a little extra storage space behind the seat in a nice short bed MJ. I did some measuring from a 2 door to a 4 door again. The 2 door, door, is basically 8 3/4 longer than a 4 door front door. I think I have my sister talked into doing a photo chop for me. If she does I'll post them up to see what people think of what I'm contemplating. BTW, I think that custom Chevy extended cab looks pretty nice.

If you hadn't installed it you could return it and get a new one that had clips in the box. Right? Since you already have the new one in you can't return that one. But couldn't you go buy the same exact one, use those clips and then return it? You didn't lose them or break them, you were shorted in the first place, I don't think I see a moral issue with doing it this way.

Just Got My First Mj
Doc. replied to ryanatrocks@yahoo.com's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
Nice rig. Like the cage, very similar to how I did mine. The "Comanche" on the doors, is that a vinyl sticker or.....? -
What is your goal for the truck? Street, trail, combo? The truck looks cool on those tires but I'd be tempted to go down in tire size and lift to make the truck more street friendly and trail friendly (without cutting out wheel openings etc.). Those stock arms with that much lift must have messed up caster something terrible and make it handle real nice going down the road!

To CAD bracket, or not to CAD bracket? / RRO reliability
Doc. replied to Crash's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Maybe I missed it. HML? (how much lift) -
How did you go out compared to how you wanted to go out?

johnj92131, that is what I keep coming back to for the most logical option. Just wish I had some nice doors from a 97 up XJ 2 door. I a rusty 2 door and measured them and compared to the MJ doors, forgot what the difference was though. I do have a rusty MJ for the extra roof section too. I think I have it worked out in my head for the floor. Would be nice to see a photo of one done that way to see how it would look. This? Yah, I don't think so.

Hard to beat the ground clearance of a Dana 35. That's what I run in my wheeling rig. 35's, 4.56 gears, lockers I think it's been 12 years now. I agree with others, depends on what you are after. Parts for an 8.8 might be easier to come buy, if needed down the road.

Anyone else have any links or photos of extended cab Comanche's? Even if they are just photo shop pics.

How's he going to pound down pinch seams in the wheel opening if he doesn't want to do any trimming? No trimming to me sounds like inner fenders will remain on the truck. Personally I'm thinking 32's and 3inch lift might be too much tire with no trimming, but have not ever tried it myself, so really don't know. Pretty sure you can get away with narrow 31's on stock rims with 3 inch without too much rubbing.

4.0 AW4 to AX15 swap, dash 4wd indicator question
Doc. replied to dkmcgowan's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
If I went to all the work of converting to 4wd I'd like to see a light in the dash too. Just because. I have no useful info for you, but hope you get it figured out just the same. -
Isn't that what they used to stand on in the olden days to speak up on politics and what not? Oh wait, that was a soap box. Don't know what a shout box is, never heard of it.

In MN, bumper height and tires sticking out will get ya.

"Track Rated" Comanche
Doc. replied to jeeptruck636's topic in MJ Hardcore Tech: Epic Journeys to Greatness
For what it's worth I to am kind of sick of seeing flat black rims on everything. I don't understand why a person would take nice rims and make them look like old spare tire rims by painting them black. But that's just me, I still run white letters out, even if they are a no name tire. Sometimes painting the rims body color works, I also like a gray for the center on some rims/cars. In any case I usually sand the outer lip on the rim down to aluminum again before clearing.- 59 replies

HVAC has sliding controls and the two tone color schemes are drab. It's just not my preference ;) Sorry to obsess on this, and not trying to post jack. But... I went out back and looked at 4 97's a 98, a 99, a 2001 and still don't see what you're talking about. The controls all look the same to me. As for the 2 tone. The ones I have with light gray interior have light gray bolt on parts on the lower of the dash. If it has tan, tan on the lower, if it has black the entire dash was black. What am I not getting here? Was it early 97's that had something odd going on?

The way I read it, He didn't want change back. So if you got the 2500 truck you have the 7500 to do whatever. Maybe I read that wrong? Regardless, please enter my info into the drawing, I'd love a chance at winning any of these fabulous prizes.

How does the 97 interior differ from the 98 to 2001?
-
Color me confused. I assumed the red tint was all the way through the plastic. You're saying it is only red on the surface and can be cleaned off !?

Reverse doesent work? Well this guy figured it out!
Doc. replied to Blue88Comanche's topic in The Pub
Well, it works. I don't think it would stress the frame that much. Pretty wimpy looking chain, I think it would break long before frame damage could happen. -
If I get 10,000 and don't have to give change I'd take the $2500 #3 one just on $ alone. #3 looks to be a long box though. So, that leads me to #2 . It's red, lifted, short box. Bumpers, wheels and a few other things would have to be changed though. No interest in #1 Motor has been modified. I'm old enough to know I don't get along with engines that have been modified. Oh, and #1 is not road legal in MN (not that #2 is either).
