  1. 9500 bucks for it? that's the crazy part, although it's a nice truck and i wouldn't mind getting it at all...
  2. when posting, please quote the original listing since they expire/get deleted...
  3. it would probably run either .5 hours or 1 hour of labor to program it...so based off the labor rate around here, 40 to 80 bucks.
  4. uh oh... EBR's! just get another SKS and have one of each :D
  5. like many of you...i would love to have something like that by the time i die. i wonder how much time all that took to get? see that bag with the center caps for turbine rims? what would it take to get those sent to 49507? i see the box next to it just says "center cap 86 xj," is that part of the same set?
  6. Could be Brent ($500MJ), I know he goes that way to avoid Chicago when going between WI and MI (so do I when going to Rockford from MI).
  7. nope doesn't kill it, he abandons it and switches only because the blown on windows, body damage, and bullet holes makes it stick out too much when i watched it with my wife she made the mistake of saying that the jeep couldn't really hold up to that kind of abuse...i corrected her swiftly :D
  8. i was just looking at the diagram for the charging system on them, the regulator diodes are in the alt but the pcm controls both the asd relay and the generator field driver. the problem is i can't do the tests from michigan to help her, and she doesn't know what to do even if i told her...so she really needs a shop that's competent in those areas. i'm not familiar with the emissions registry since we don't have one in michigan that i'm aware of. i take it there's a link online somewhere?
  9. short story: a friend of my sister is having problems witha 98 caravan over there and needs a good shop that deals with driveability and electrical systems. she's had the alternator and battery replaced, and now it doesn't seem to be charging and having a variety of electrical problems. anyone over there have some advice? thanks
  10. that's about what i was thinking...
  11. and i believe the old listing on gl4x4 was only for $800 :dunno:
  12. hey that compass probably had a sharp metal point on it...
  13. i'm pretty sure i have one around still and i'd let it go for a lot less than 52 bucks.

    New MJ

i know someone who did buy one new, but wrecked it due to some other bad driver...but that was years ago.
  15. the other factor is the mj is the only way i can get payment for another truck...
  16. we'll have 2 vehicles tagged still, but i can't afford to keep around a 3rd vehicle right now. aside from the money flowing out, i don't have the storage for it. the money saved by not insuring and tagging a 3rd vehicle is going to pay off debt quicker, which will mean less interest payments, which means i'll have more money in the long run that latter i can get a comanche and make it into what i want. but for now, i just can't do it. and as for the chevy, not a bad deal. decent overall condition, some rust (michigan), runs great. even came with an extra set of axles for it, with a brand new detroit locker for the rear :brows: no money out on it either :D
  17. so the comanche's biggest drawback is lack of space...at least with a family. i don't have the resources at the time to do an extended cab comanche/cheromanche project or keep it as an additional vehicle, so it's time to replace the MJ with an extended cab chevy k1500 4x4/350/auto. pics to come. i'll still be around, someday i'll probably get another comanche, and for now i still have a 99 xj to fill the jeep fix.
  18. "Watch this Item" i once saw a 97+ xj body like that for sale at a junk yard a couple hours north of me, it was a right hand drive one too...
  19. way too far away... :fs1:
  20. napa usually has 2 grades...and the more costly one is usually US or at least canada. i always spring for the higher level part, i don't want to repeat in 2 months.
  21. i also hate it when people leave doors or windows open so the insides get wet and ruined :fs1:
  22. lookin good. you might also try http://garagejournal.com/ for some ideas
  23. i've had several xjs, mostly 87-90 but currently i have a 99 with 198,000 miles, runs great. biggest problem with it i've had aside from some accident repairs i made when i got it has been a u-joint. if you go with a 97+, try for a 97 or 98. in 99, they had to change some stuff for emissions including the cat, which dropped the power on it. they corrected it by changing the intake, which netted a slight gain of i believe 5hp. putting the 99+ intake on a 91-98 4.0 nets 15hp, so the emissions mods killed 10 hp.
  24. nice resolution, and welcome to the club  as for can't do that, i am one :D
