Maybe 1 every 6 months, if I’m lucky. There is one sitting on a lot with other vehicles nearby and that’s usually the one I see. If I still had a full basement garage I’d try to buy it.

Several years back I’m on my way to Northern TN to visit a hydro plant to sell some pumps. My wife decided to go with me, so we took her Lexus instead of my GMC Sierra. Weather’s cold but good when we leave AL but around 75 miles from the hotel in TN we run into a lot of snow on the interstate. Front wheel drive on the Lexus and good tires, so we’re not having any trouble. I come up on a semi tanker in the right lane and pull over pass him. Suddenly there’s a flash of brown in my headlights as a deer runs across the highway and hits the tanker trailer wheels. Fortunately, it gets flung behind the trailer toward the right shoulder and away from us. If we’d been traveling just a little faster we would have had that deer through the windshield. After that near miss, driving through heavier snow for the rest of the way to the hotel and then to and from the hydro plant the next day seemed like a stroll on the beach.

Eh! AX4/AW4 - a little dyslexia or maybe CRS.

Just noticed in the description “5 Speed Automatic Transmission”. It was my understanding the ‘91 still used the AX4 auto trans which continued to be used in ‘92 and later XJs. Mine had an AX15 5 speed manual so no personal experience with the auto trans. Other than that it appears to be a stock truck with new tires and speakers. Still not worth $21,500 to me even if it did have that rare 5 speed auto trans.

Great truck, Pete! If you’re using a tablet or laptop the image can be expanded and is easily readable, even for us Olde Pharts.

Only if I hit the lottery. And maybe not even then. I’d rather buy a good MJ and then pour the rest of the money into building it (or having it built) the way I would like it. Not that a red ‘91 Eliminator is bad, it’s just not worth that much to me.

Sorry - the 2 rockers from the 2 door Cherokee are the winners!

If you’re talking 6 hours there, doing some business and 6 hours back my advice is don’t do it. I’ve been driving for business for around 40 years. After 5-6 hours on the road with or without breaks your brain and your body are tired. If you are doing any business at the end of 6 hours, you’re not getting any rest for the return trip. Do yourself a favor and get a hotel room or at least sleep in the truck at a campground or other safe place. Parking at a truck stop or a WalMart is not necessarily safe. May have been years ago but there are a lot more predators running loose these days. Not saying you can’t physically do it. Just saying be safe. Dozing off on the highway is not conducive to a long life span.

Didn’t know if that was a new show or a rerun. I would like to have seen the finished truck.

Truck U (on the Motor Trend channel on cable) has a segment on building an ‘88 Comanche. It has the ‘96 Cherokee interior upgrade and they’ve added ZipLock (?) on the front axle and positraction on the rear. Completely stripped, blast cleaned, rust repair done, painted. New 4-1/2” lift suspension, wheels and tires. I believe they did engine work on a previous episode. It’s going to be a nice looking and driving truck.

I haven’t been active here much for the past 2-3 years after I sold my ‘91 when we built a new home with, unfortunately, a much smaller garage (2 car vs full basement). Also sold my Ram pickup (because it filled up half of the new garage) and bought an ‘07 GMC Canyon. I’ve been on a forum for those trucks since I bought it and have to say CC Forums really puts that one (and most other brand/type forums I’ve seen) in the shade. There is so much more member to member support and less (almost none) flaming/profanity here. So, even though I’m Comanche-less, I still enjoy logging on and seeing what’s happening. Who knows, I could wind up with another Comanche one day and again need the MJ wisdom that’s abundant here!

Forget the taillight lens. I want to find one of those ‘96 Comanches!

I noticed on the internet someone selling “cat cages” to “prevent catalytic converter theft”. Looked like it might slow a determined thief down by as much as 2-3 minutes.

Coolest/eeriest sighting for me was years ago at the Pensacola NAS for the Blue Angels fall air show. After we parked the truck and were walking to the exhibits, something made me look up as a B2 did a low flyover. This was shortly after the Air Force made their existence public. That batwing shape, light absorbing coating and the lack of noise as it approached was awe-inspiring and kind of creepy at the same time. Sorry, no pics. Before cameras on cell phones.

We go to the Orange Beach/Gulf Shores, AL area several times (spring, summer and fall) every year. The Pensacola Naval Air Station, home of the Blue Angels, is under 30 miles East. On many trips we see one or more of the Angels flyby. Occasionally we’ll see all six in formation, probably when they’re in a practice session or returning from an air show. They also seem to enjoy making fast, low passes just offshore either solo or in pairs. Pre-COVID the Blues posted their practice day schedule and you could go to the station and watch them. Watching the ground crew and pilots pre-takeoff procedures is always interesting, but seeing all 6 of them takeoff and land in formation is mind-blowing! I looked for photos on my phone but don’t have any. We’ll be back down there next month and hopefully will see them again and get some pics. Recently heard the Blues are transitioning to F/A-18E Super Hornets - bigger, faster, more maneuverable. Fat Albert is getting an upgrade also.

Jeremy - I just saw this thread tonight as I haven’t been on the forum much since I sold my ‘91. It’s great to hear that things seem to be headed in the right direction in spite of the bumps along the way (no pun intended). Saying a prayer for your full recovery and safety. Hang in there, brother!

Pete - A little off topic but tied to your first post - Don Drennen in Hoover was the last of the Drennen dealerships who were among the oldest businesses in the Birmingham, originally selling horse-drawn carriages and wagons. There is now a brewery in what was the stables for a livery service that was adjacent to the Drennen properties. I believe it may have been Drennen’s livery service but can’t say for sure. When I was a good bit younger, Drennen had a Cadillac dealership and a Buick dealership across the street from each other in downtown Birmingham. My father was a Buick man and bought several Buick’s from Drennen. Don Drennen was an offshoot of the downtown dealerships, set up in what was at that time the fast-growing Hoover area. I don’t remember when they picked up the Jeep dealership but we almost leased a Grand Cherokee there about 25-30 years ago. They lost the Jeep line in 2009 when automakers consolidated their efforts into larger dealerships (the start of the mega-dealers) and then were bought by Hendricks in 2011.

90%, but like PC06 I lived through those years but I’m not good on Kaisers, Henry Js, etc.

That afternoon: "Hey Margie, get me a beer. You're not going to believe what happened at work today."

Quit farting around and find a doctor. You’re too young to be having unexplained reactions like that. If your throat starts reacting that way you could suffocate before paramedics could get to you or you could get to an ER. Just another Olde Pharts opinion, but that of one who’s seen a friend almost die from an allergic reaction.

Did a little search and found I was both right and wrong. The Turbo Encabulator has previously been featured not once but twice on CCF. The first appearance is in April 2009 and the second is in July of 2014. Search for Encabulator. If you search for Turbo Encabulator you’ll get many pages referencing turbo installations/problems/etc.
-
I’m fairly certain this is the second time around for the Turboencabulator on CC Forums. If it is not, then it was a similar dissertation on a different high tech “development”. I believe it surfaced on here 18-24 months back and got a lot of comment/discussion.

You mean it’s not real Corinthian leather as Fernando Lamas told us?

Back on the original track, I have some 45s, 33s and cassettes from the 60s-70s-Motown eras plus some of the same music on cd. They will be going into our moving sale or I may take them to one of the local vinyl stores for a lot price. Love the music but don’t have any equipment to play it.

Liked the first one, before he became a not case. Won’t be watching this one.
