  1. Pumps are fairly easy to be had, but the sending unit (rack) are no longer sold, by any one, at least for MJs.
  2. Is it actually turning over slow or turning over at a normal speed and just not firing? Has it become progressively worse?
  3. Hoooly Sh*t thats funny! ROTFL :rotf:
  4. Take a test light and check for power at the plug. Super easy. Key has to be in the "On" (accessory?) or "Run" position. Plug for the blower is directly below the pressure bottle. No power, problem elsewhere Power, blower motor dun did dead.
  5. Dude, to say you have a talent for wood working would be an understatement. That very first driftwood creation is my favorite, my critiques would be that the legs should be significantly longer, the body a little fuller and maybe have the bird standing on one large piece instead of pile of sticks. The cabinet resto, the domino table, the fish Ooh man those are freakin sweeet! :clapping: Don't stop doin what your doin. Just like the old saying goes, "if you love what you do, you'll never work a day in your life." BTW you said your an electrical engineer, what does that qualify you to do? Do you have a BA or MA? Electrical engineering is the field i would like to major in, but my school doesnt offer and engineering program much less a degree as focused as an electrical engineer. As of right now my course of study is referred to as "Electrical/Mechanical Engineering Technology". The electrical aspect is primarily computer focused with very little to do with actual electrical principles.
  6. Had a similar problem with a buddy's dodge. Luckily the PO, a mexican, had installed it, not a factory alarm. So the removal process was fairly easy, however, your dealing with a factory installed alarm system. THAT is going to be a b*tch. :(
  7. New sending units flat out don't exist anymore, anywhere. Your best hope is to keep on searching the JY or do some kind of swap. Dakota tank and sender maybe, or an XJ? I spent about a week having in depth conversations with tech guys from various online computer/electrical suppliers trying to reverse engineer a replacement sending unit with no luck. As far as "refurbishing" goes. Disassemble your sending unit and sand blast it down to bare metal then paint it. As to what paint to use, hopefully this DIY thread will answer that question. http://comancheclub.com/topic/33662-refurbishing-the-fuel-sender/?hl=fuel+sending&do=findComment&comment=338625
  8. For a quick test to see if the temp switch is bad just unplug it. If the fan turns off, there's your answer. If it continues to run, you've got problems else where.
  9. Just go to the JY and pull two sets of Ford orange top injectors, they are the four hole. I got mine from two separate ford trucks that had the 4.9 inline six. I've had mine for almost a year now without a single issue.
  10. Why the hell do you need pictures when i am 10 min away? :D Besides this is a very old write up, I have long since updated my system. I wouldnt go by what i did here.
  11. I gotta say thats pretty d**n impressive. First time i have seen/heard of a stinger bumper actually saving someone's @$$ and not just looking obnoxious.
  12. Sweet. Buttery Jesus. Stop this cruel and unusual punishment! Reveal to us the rest of the truck! Oh, and i am pretty certain there were A LOT more than 50 made, just sayin. They're rare, but not that rare.
  13. Places like Northern Tool and Harbor Freight offer a bunch of different options, but i don't know if this is what you had in mind. http://www.northerntool.com/shop/tools/NTESearch?escapeXml=false&ipp=24&storeId=6970&Ntt=d%2Bring
  14. For a toy/trail rig, ya that thing would be sweet. You could go up a 90* incline and not worry about smacking the a** on the ground, but practically speaking the bed on that thing is about as useful as tits on a bar hog. Understatement of the century :fs1: and i'm not a very tall guy.
  15. After scouring CL this one seems to be the most promising. http://nashville.craigslist.org/cto/4189297930.html
  16. I kinda wish he would, but he needs something that gets the same mpg or more than the tercel. I concur, something at least new enough to be found on KBB or NADA. And i know exactly what you mean about hidden dangers, these cars are just going to turn into two big money pits. . . . . boy does that remind me of another vehicle. . . . :MJ 2: . While your math is accurate, my dad is a huge stickler when it comes to saving money and mpg. I couldnt agree more about the Honda Civics and have looked very hard to find one or something similar. The thing with the 85 is that the PO stripped the body in preparation for painting, but never got around to it. Meaning that the shell of the entire car is bare metal and has been so for the last year or so. We are in a race with time at this point. Trying to scrape together enough cash to be able to have Macco shot it with their most basic paint job.
  17. So I am in a bit of dilemma as to what to do. Mom and dad NEED a new car, but don't have the finances to afford one on their own, but at the same time neither do they have the funds to properly fix the ones they are driving now. We currently own 2 toyota tercel wagons, identical to the one below. One tercel is an 86 (brown) and the other an 85(silver). They both have a little over 230k on the clock and have blow by like a motherlover. The one my dad drives regularly actually runs pretty good, but its got so many other problems; oil leaking everywhere, blow-by, severe rust, leaking windshield, no heat, no a/c, no radio, shot clutch, failing brakes, rear hatch shocks shot; i feel there is far more bad than good, yet he continues to drive it. Then theres the other one, the 85, the body is absolutely mint i will give it that, but it has a running issue that has stumped me and several good mechanics since the day we bought it making it a danger to drive, plus it too has failing brakes and extremely lose steering that will cost a fortune to replace because of the cars age/uniqueness. To have the 85 repaired so that it runs drives like it should is going to cost approx $1500-$2000. My parents really like these cars and i can understand why, they are a selectable 4x4 with a granny low, that are also capable of attaining 30+ mpg, BUT i just don't know if they are worth fixing at this point. Especially when there are so many excellent cars on Craigslist that have all the bells and whistles for the same cost that it would take to fix these tercels that already have extremely high mileage. The choices: Spend a small fortune to fix the old high mileage beaters that my parents love? or Spend a lesser fortune to purchase a newer model car with lower miles and all the modern conveniences? Thanks for taking the time to read my sob story.
  18. 1. Buy 16 gauge piece of sheet metal, 12 is the very thickest, 20 very thinnest. 2. Use grinder to cut semi appropriate size. 3. Use hammer to bend/shape piece of sheet metal to fit. 4. Use drill and rivet gun to fasten new piece of steel to floorboard 5. Seam seal the sh*t out of it. 6. Have a beer (root beer if under age/don't drink) 7. Call it good.
  19. Pass, thats a lot of nickle for not a lot in return. But if you have pictures that would help tremendously. Where are you located? That might have a lot to do with the high asking price.
  20. No answer would be the only answer that would disappointment to me. I don't have a 2.5, i only used it for familarity sake.
  21. Very well said indeed. :clapping:
  22. MY truck needs a frame patch, but it is anything but rotted. There was a about a 1ft section on the bottom of the frame channel, right under the cab, with some rust holes clean through, which i cut out. I have yet to weld a patch in, but have continued to drive and wheel the truck many months after the surgery. Depending on how the spiders have been welded, he most likely will need a new carrier as well. Also, regearing one axle alone will cost $400 to $500. But if the frame "needs patched" it is rotted. This is a salvage truck only worth some money as a parts vehicle. While i don't agree that it is a salvage truck, i do recognize that possibility that there might be more damage than i initialy considered. BUT for all you know it could be perfectly fine, none of us will ever know unless we were to actually go and see/drive it. This also applies to me as well. I can't be serious? No, I think YOU can't be serious. All this can be fixed in one afternoon? Needs front drive shaft headlights rear pinion bearing rear taillight rear shocks front stablizer rocker panel patch driver side floor pan rear frame patch Welded rear 3.07 gears with huge tires. No way anybody is going to repair all that in one afternoon. And if the seller is willing to admit to all that being bad, you can bet there's a lot of other little (or not so little) things wrong that he's not admitting to. This is not a "truck" -- it's a basket case. Ok, maybe i spoke a little to soon. But the things like headlights, rear tail, shocks, steering stabilzer should all be doable in a day. The other stuff like floor boards, frame patch, rockers, ya maybe not, but then again how many Comanches have you seen that didnt need floor board repair and who cares what the rockers look like any way. As far as the front drive shaft goes, unless he is saying it needs a custom front drive, its a simple matter of bolting one in. Yes i know it can be difficult, but its not freakin brain surgery. All this yay yaying back and forth is kinda pointless anyway, its not like any of us will ever get to go see the truck for ourselves. ;) That is a damn fine truck for that price, and its like you guys already know. Price is all relative. The above truck in my area would probably be going to 3k or more. a few good examples: http://atlanta.craigslist.org/sat/cto/4114210586.html http://atlanta.craigslist.org/atl/cto/4116340372.html http://chattanooga.craigslist.org/cto/4158201250.html http://chattanooga.craigslist.org/cto/4118146985.html
  23. THANK YOU!!
  24. You guys can't be serious. $300, come on Eagle i know your joking right? You did see what my friend bought for $1400 just a few days ago right? http://comancheclub.com/topic/40578-opinions-wanted/page-2 THAT truck was worth 300-500, but this truck http://westernmass.craigslist.org/cto/4138628235.html . This truck is definately worth at least a grand. Now, granted this is only if it has a 4.0, runs, drives, and shifts well. 96 thou original miles AX-15 trans = good 231 t-case = good Factory roll bar 4x4 "Chief" package Custom front bumper, most likely custom rear too Custom snorkel, so what if its made out of PVC. Already lifted, at least some Dana 44 rear, so what if it is welded, buy new gears who wants 3.07 anyway. All the bad can/could be fixed in a single afternoon for less than 400-500 bucks depending on where you buy and what you might already have on hand. I think you guys are dogging this truck waaaay to hard. Not saying its a peach, but I would not hesitate a moment to go take a look at it. I think a more reasonable price would be between $900 and $1000.
  25. Here is a good example of what is possible with enough money and engineering friends. http://www.turbomagazine.com/tech/0202tur_norwoods_racing_funnycar_integra/
