  1. :hmm: Rob L. You wouldn't suppose those gift cards were stolen would you?
  2. I like your Home Depot scam better than the ones going on around here! My friend was approached by a hispanic male, my friend is a recent Chinese immigrant and is very trusting. The man asks him in broken english would he like to buy a Home Depot $200 gift card for $160 because he needed cash badly, he even takes my friend inside and has a clerk scan it to see how much money is on it. My friend gives him the money, and he then asks if he can use my friends cell phone. After he is done they part ways, little does my friend know that this person has his cell number. In a few days he starts getting calls from the hispanic man asking if he would like to buy more "gift cards" for discounted rates. When he came and asked my why the man kept calling him I explained that he had inadvertantly been used as a "fence" and to please not answer this mans requests any longer.
  3. Yes! We had one too!
  4. Just one of the many paybacks you Cali guys have to suck up and shell out for the privilege of living in "Paradise" Joe. :D Although I can see the need for the DRB2 since you have an HO if you got it cheaply. There are times I'd like to have one too. I pulled the MAINT REQ lamp many moons ago............... The price I gotta pay for good eaten' I guess.
  5. In California you will get "fail" on your smog test if one removes the "bulb" for the MAINT REQ light (or any other bulb that flashes at startup), I tried that trick one time. The smog technicians around my parts actually test the bulbs at start up. I purchased the DRB II scanner shortly after to reset the light. I can't help but wonder what RENIX folks do here, since those emission timers cost so much.
  6. Congratulations Don! Great history on your MJ and the PO's, not many of us are fortunate enough to meet the original owners, and likewise not many original owners are fortunate enough to sell their vehicles to a true Comanche lovers like you.
  7. After 31 inch Cooper STT's Before My STT's are noisy, but they stick to just about any surface, and have lasted more than three years. I had to recently replace the front two because of balljoint and alignment issues now fixed.
  8. It's a RENIX. How did you know what the spec voltage is? My voltage specs are in my 1991 factory service manuals, but on my DRB II it will put an * next to any reading "out of whack". I think the link that 1986comanche provided is the best on yet for RENIX systems.
  9. Is your truck HO or RENIX? For an HO I tested the engine and emissions data, just follow the old school menu (numbers not icons)menu to get there. I used it to see if my IAC and TPS were working within the spec voltage.
  10. um..., ok Forget the Jeep, I want the time machine the guy used to get a 78' truck into a Rhino dealer while it was still brand new. Exaggerations like this in ads make me wonder what else was exaggerated. :ack: Truck does look awesome tho. Easy enough to find out as I only live 20 miles from them. El Cerrito is where Creedence Clear Water Revival got its start, it has since become an area filled with elderly folks in Million dollar homes. I suspect that this may be an add for someones Father or Grandfather that has passed away and the executers of the will are trying to sell off the estate that don't have a clue about the truck other than it is rare.
  11. El Cerrito is only about 30 minutes away from me if anyone needs some help acquiring it. I hope That Honcho goes to someone that really loves and appreciates Jeeps!
  12. This might be a repost, but I found a site that has some really nice old school vehicles for sale. http://www.jeeptruck.com/sale/sale.html This one in particular really made me wish I had some extra money. http://www.jeeptruck.com/sale/ad227/ad227.html
  13. Happy Thanksgiving to all! That Alice's Restaurant piece brought back a lot of memories.
  14. In my old 97 I had a power/comfort switch, if it lurches in both modes I would think the transmission is in need of servicing. Also if you have the select trac transfer case sometimes getting out of 4WD can be a booger. I used to have to drive backwords for a bit to get it to disengage.
  15. Excellent resto job, your Javelin looks great! As far as going "sideways" with an AMX I have driven the old style and the newer 1979 style and a V8 in the 1979 model year was very easy to get sideways, but earlier years didn't have much different handling characteristics than the Mustang's (not Mustang II's).
  16. Don. Give me a good old fashioned M203 with an M60 as backup along with a few Long Island Ice Tea's and some Pirates ;)
  17. These are some of the hardest issues around pet ownership, prayers for you and Cleo.
  18. I just changed my transmission oil to the Redline MT90, and it took a little over 3 quartz. BTW it now shifts flawlessly with no cold reverse grind, or difficulty getting it in first gear.
  19. Was the truck in the background at 1:32 a Comanche? :ack:
  20. I got mine back in 2005 for my 1991, and IICR I used the XJ 4.0. It really helped me with the voltages on the TPS and other ignition diagnostics. The added benefit is I can turn off the "Maint Req" light. :clapping:
  21. You might try sending your old unit to this place http://www.tristarrradiator.com/
  22. So ATK is saying that your engine failed due to detination, do you mean pinging? That would be difficult for them to prove as your truck is supposed to run with 87 octane. Here in California I had a friend with a 1998 Chevy van have its transmission fail in 2000. They replaced it then under warranty and in 2002 with less than the 3 year 36,000 mile warranty, it failed again. They charged my friend $3,000 to replace the transmission, he took the Chevy dealer to small claims court and the judge said that the 3 year 36,000 mile warranty applied to each replaced transmission, and he got his money back. I think they owe you an engine.
  23. Damn it Don,You moderator's get all the best smiley's :D
  24. Aux fan cooling issue solved :clapping:
