  1. Happy Veterans Day and a big thanks to all that have served our Country. :clapping:
  2. I learned from the best Fred G. Sanford.
  3. LOL! If those nails had road rage sensors on them I'd take half a dozen or so ;)
  4. Pete,I can live with the flashing, but it is over the top with them following me around and flashing continuously. Trying to follow (reciprocate) by flashing such idiots with my brights to convince them that I wasn't flashing them with my brights to begin with seems like more fuel for road rage. :dunno:
  5. Thanks Pete, They look right on center on the garage door, I am going to lower the beam a bit. I don't mind getting flashed coming head on every now and then, but these bulbs seem to promote road rage (on three occasions) on a few folks that I have approached from behind. The road rage is weird with folks slowing down to almost a stop on the freeway, then I pass to get around them and they accelerate behind me and flash, and follow me forever. I have been angry at folks that I thought had too bright a beam, but acting out in road rage makes no sense to me and I would gladly change the lights out rather than getting into an altercation with a kook over too bright of lights. I think the Cibie's are SAE and DOT rated as opposed to the IPF's so at least I would have a leg to stand on if I have them adjusted at an Official California lamp adjustment station. :shake:
  6. Well a few months ago I upgraded from IPF H4 blue head lamps (they burned out) to the fatboy II recently. Many years ago I used the original IPF fatboy bulbs and got flashed on a regular basis as they were too bright for some drivers to tolerate so I downgraded to the blue lenses. I have aligned the new fatboy bulbs myself and even had an official lamp adjustment garage align them, but every once in a while I get flashed. I am ready to cut my losses and from Daniel Stern lighting get the Cibie lenses and bulbs which have an infallible record and are SAE approved. Before I spend $200 to switch, is there something I am missing here or are the new IPF bulbs just junk? TIA Dog
  7. JeepCo- Are you certain it was a problem exclusively with the Netgear? I know for those of us that use Comcast for an ISP you have to "trick" the Comcast Network to recognize the new hardware, by taking the MAC address of the last router or workstation that connected to Comcast and enter it into the new router. :dunno: I installed this router for my parents and love it. http://homestore.cisco.com/en-us/Router ... ewprod.htm
  8. I seem to remember folks putting that oil in their gas tank when gasoline went from leaded to unleaded. Since the 4.0 is designed for unleaded gas maybe it isn't necessary? :dunno: http://www.team.net/mharc/archives/mbox/healeys/2001-10
  9. Gator McKlusky?
  10. Edit Hahahaha I took cooling to mean the A/C sorry my bad  I found this site http://www.jeepair.com/ to be very helpfull on my 1991. Per instructions at jeepair.com I found that it was a good idea to replace the drier, discharge hose, and expansion valves when converting from r12-r134. I opted to have this done by a local garage as I didn't have the facilities to discharge r12 properly. My only regret was buying the new compressor as I thought it was Sanden but was a copy-cat from China. The new compressor was a tad taller than the old one and it took some getting used to when I was changing the spark plugs nearest the compressor. Overall I am very pleased with the quality of the parts, and the advice from the owner. I am into this about $700 including parts, I know that it was a lot of coin but well worth it.
  11. Don San Diego has always been a great port o call :D , Why not buy the Street Comanche, then the Dana 44 rear end and have them load it into the bed and ship it? I know shippers claim to not allow loaded items in the beds of trucks, but when I had mine shipped from Ohio to CA it had many MJ goodies in the bed that the PO included in the sale.
  12. Hello, Does it still have the Fuel sender unit? I would pay handsomely for it. Thanks, Dog
  13. Those look outstanding! Great work!
  14. I just purchased the compressor, drier, expension valve, hose, and o-ringsm from jeepair for well under $400. The only gripe I had is that when I ordered I thought I was getting a "Sanden compressor", but got a Sanden look-a-like from China. Everythings works well, but if I had it to do over again I would have gotten the Sanden for $20 more on Ebay (it could be that Sanden is made in China now?).
  15. If you look the compressors up on http://www.jeepair.com/ they are different P/N's.
  16. Holy (P)eople for (E)thical (T)reatmant of MJ's. Congratulations!
  17. I really like my Pioneer lots of room for expanding. http://www.crutchfield.com/s_1307200HD/ ... ml?tp=5684, I got mine at Amazon for $219 shipped.
  18. What's really fun are the 2-lane "roundabouts" in Australia. In a two-lane roundabout, you keep to the left lane if you’re turning left or going straight ahead. You keep to the right lane if you’re turning right. You can also use the right lane in a two-lane roundabout if you’re going straight ahead. You use your left-turn signal for a left turn, the right-turn signal for a right turn. BUT if you’re turning right and are on the right lane, you must switch on your left-turn signal when exiting. Motorists must signal left, in every instance, whenever exiting either right or left from a roundabout. This is great fun for a Yank used to driving on the right side of the road in a LHD country. I caused many near misses on the bloody roundabouts while there............ So you were the crazy Yank of Naval Communication Station Harold E. Holt? :rotf:
  19. I think the key trick worked on up to 1997 Jeeps, my wife's 1997 Grand Cherokee would display codes, and my 1998 TJ needed the scanner.
  20. Thanks everyone. One of the forgiving things about Spencer's workmanship is you can add or modify the stickers very easily even after they have been applied. I found at least the door stickers didn't require a second set of hands (like I thought). What I really needed was a second set of eyes as it is critical first of all to get the white end of the stickers off onto the clear end without leaving behind the dozens of small stickers that make up the "Eliminator". I was very successful at this with the drivers door, but the passenger door in direct sun light was another story. I was able to go back and pull the small stickers that got left behind on the clear media and fill the holes left by my incomplete installation :dunce: I found that these stickers are very maleable, but you really need to make sure when stretching them to line up that you do not stetch too much as their size will change. Don, If Spencer gets the colors you want, you will love these stickers on your truck, just keep Gus out of the way from helping. My cocker spaniel took to snatching the stickers and running away with them in an effort to "help" me.
  21. Thanks Rob L. I know this won't be that popular, but the Billy Mays ding king really did deliver for me. I spent $15 and the "Dent Pro" folks quoted me $500 to fix the dings. I am certain their work would have been superior to mine, but for $15 I am happy with the work on the drivers side door. :clapping:
  22. Hello my friends, After 3 months of being chicken little I installed the door part of jeepsticker.com 1991-2 Eliminator kit. Spencer's craftmanship is excellent, for those of us that choose to install the kit without the help of a professional keep in mind some tips. 1) Do not install the kit in direct sunlight. (the sticker installed in the shade looked way better than the one installed in the sun). 2) Be patient! there are protentially dozens of stickers within this kit that you must keep a watchfull eye on. I made sure all stickers transposed from the non-sticky paper to the sticky clear tape before I installed to my truck. 3) If you screw up, relax and feel free to pull the stickers off individually an reinstall. One reason my install took so long is that I had several dents and dings on my drivers door. You can see some irregularities in the pics. I know I will be flamed, but I used Billy May's ding king to remove the lions share on about 9 major dents. The end results are in the pics. BTW patience is a virtue, I was able to retrive the stickers missing on the passenger door from the installation tape. Yes this install is way not perfect, and I wish Don (Hornbrod) or someone else with skills better than mine would have done this, but here this is flame on my brothers.
  23. Give napaonline a try. http://www.napaonline.com/Search/Detail ... 99+3999999
  24. By that logic NASA wastes peanuts compared to what the US socialized industrial military complex wastes. Yet if you were to say that the DOD's budget was one big waste of socialized tax dollars you might find yourself quickly hanging from a noose. NASA's budget is about 3% of what the DOD's budget is. DOE's budget is about $60 billion a year, other institutions like the NSA and NRO.....your guess is as good as mine. However, for the peanuts we spend on NASA we reap all sorts of economic benefits, same goes for military R&D. It was massive government spending during WWII that spurred all sorts of new inventions, not just a new gadget, but chemical and metallurgical engineering, the birth of the polymer industry, the nuclear age, etc. Now it was private business that pushed forward with those things, but for so much of it the catalyst came from government funding research. A classic example(though not related to research), is the interstate highway system. Eisenhower sold it saying it was for defense, but look at how indispensable it is to our current economic structure. China even went as far as to copy our system nearly verbatim with the exception of slightly wider lanes(to accommodate shipping traffic better). The DOD spent metric-$#!& tons of money on the GPS system, but look how important the GPS system is world-wide? Ever watch star trek? Did you know that all of the windows on the ships are supposed to be made of "transparent aluminum"? Guess what? Nasa invented that, the transparent aluminum is now used in the HMMWV armored windows.(polycrystalline alumina that is). Infared thermometers that have been used for abotu 20 years now were developed by NASA, kodiak film, ya, that 35mm film you used for decades untill you got that shiney new digital camera, was developed by NASA for use on the moon. Regular film wasn't good enough, so NASA worked with kodiak to develop a film suitable for use in outer space. The film turned out to be so good that kodiak pushed for its use in all consumer camera's. There are something like 6500 patents registered by NASA, if you cannot see the intrinsic value in that then let me leave you with one last argument. China and Japan turn out 60 engineers to every 1 of ours. Japan has 130 million people China has 1.3 billion The US has about 310 million(we will wait for the new census results to be sure). We as a nation cannot hope to maintain our technological edge and risk sliding into third world status without the research programs that go on with NASA, DOD, and DOE. You may call it a waste, I call it investing in America's technological future. I know I sure don't want to compete with a chinese guy getting paid 39 cents an hour to assemble iPhones. I think what is being said is that what you call socialist is our Country's best chance at being the most innovative and creative in the next century. Our Military has been overwhelmingly successful in making sure the "dollar" is a global standard. Thank them (our men and women in the military) please because I cannot imagine what this world would be like having the euro, yen, rupi, or peso as the global standard of economic measurement. Also make sure you thank our former President Nixon for seeing this and getting us off of "gold" as a global currency, and making it the dollar. Although many of our private corporations have followed the venue of profit (nothing wrong with that) our Military, and NASA have provided us with the very medium we are expressing ourselves with now (Al Gore did not invent the internet, our Military, Higher Education, and NASA did). One day like Willy's, Kaiser, AMC and our manufacturing companies of old we will see a resurgence of American companies when they see profit in reenvesting in America. From my perspective I am already seeing that the cost of top engineers in China are $150,000 U.S. (I have friends in the engineering business in China, and they are outsourcing engineering services to Vietnam) Everything is a cycle and one day the sleeping giant known as the American economy will wake from its slumber.
  25. ME here, what's your discipline? CE here Currently Director of Technology at a large K-12, loved ME as well. My first cousin and I used to work on cars, we built up a Datsun 510, and he did a frame up restoration a a 57 Chevy before we went to College. At one point we both were wanting to go on the ME track, me at Cal Poly and he at Cal Berkeley, but you know how young folks want to be different. He currently works at Toyota Corporation in the Warranty Division.
