Eliminator Sticker Measurement?
jeepdoggydogB replied to over2land's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I measured 21.5 inches from the front of the bed to the rear fender well, and less than 20 inches from the rear fender well to the rear tail lights. The kit from Spencer gives us 30 '' for both areas. I know I only have a SWB at 6' but it looks like LWB will need at least 35'' per section which will be good info for Spencer, but won't work for the LWB application. -

Don, I think that Spencer added extra sticker length in this kit to accommodate if you are still interested. I know you are going on R and R soon though. Thanks, Joe -
Eliminator Sticker Measurement?

Decals really aren't too hard to put on. I would suggest calling a local body shop and seeing if they can show you how, or put them on for you and let you watch how its done. If you don't want to do that, Don was looking for a set. I would love to put them on, but my truck isn't ready for them. Rob L. Don would be perfect, but I am not sure the charcoal gray/silver combination would work on his truck. Mike AKA Fiatgslug is talented and only lives up the road from me I will PM him and see if maybe he would consider working with me on this project. I know a good body shop here so I can also investigate that avenue as well. Thanks, Rob. -
Eliminator Sticker Measurement?
jeepdoggydogB replied to over2land's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I just got the 91-92 Eliminator decals in the mail today from Spencer, their quality and looks are exceptional. They are charcoal and light grey which is perfect for black or white applications. I am not sure what colors blue, red, silver, gray or green comanches had installed. My problem now is installing them and working with Spencer to make sure all measurements are just right. I am OK when it comes to being meticulous, but there are a whole lotta other members here that a much better than I am. I am considering shipping them to one such member and having them installed and fitted properly with pics and writeup of course. One of my favorite actors Clint Eastwood had a saying "a man's got to know his limitations", and Lord do I know mine. I am thinking maybe if Pete, Eagle, Don, Rob L and other Mods might want to suggest which member would be best suited for this task, I am open to suggestions as I want these to be perfect for future comanche addicts applications. Again thanks to Spencer what a talented artist and great person he has been to work with! -

Its been great working with Spencer I can't wait to get them installed, now what to do with the 88-90 "Eliminator" stickers on the bed. :ack: -
Did this yesterday, replaced all oil with redline 75-90 in the differentials, redline ATF in the Tcase, MT-90 in the AX-15, and 10-30 in the engine with a K&N oil filter I had laying around. No leaks yet :ack:

fuel guage sending unit question
jeepdoggydogB replied to brian's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I don't think you can bend the baffle easily, and bending the float is difficult because you can't see in the tank to determine which way to bend. Is your tank dented at all? You might need a new tank, but now that the float is bent you might not be able to get it line up in a new tank. I hate to say this but if it where me I would get a new tank and a junk yard sender unit. I got my new tank on ebay for $100 shipped four years ago and what I am seeing on ebay now they are now pricier. Don't forget to pickup a new fuel pump and strainer as the JY ones usually aren't any good. -
fuel guage sending unit question
jeepdoggydogB replied to brian's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I have a 1991 so the electronics on mine are different, but when I bought a new tank I noticed that there was a "baffle" that was positioned in such a way that it surrounded the float when the sending unit is inserted. I was told that this baffle keeps the needle from jumping when the gas in the tank shifts during turns. I wonder if your float is getting stuck on the baffle? -
Seeing some of the shows of today convinces me that "The Ghoul" was ahead of his time.

What if you could build a brand new Jeep Comanche?
jeepdoggydogB replied to beepbeepmyredjeep's topic in The Pub
Lots of really good info posted on this subject. For me if I want a new or modern feature I add it to my current truck, we can add better brakes, drivetrain, engine, induction, insulation, axles, and a host of modern electronics. It is looking like folks might really want a 1/2 or 3/4 ton pickup like the old J20 to be rebadged as a Comanche. I totally get the diesel, but wouldn't necessarily want it in a hybrid frame unibody or a strong V-8 for that matter. I really liked the J20 because it wasn't as large as a Ford, Chevy, or Dodge in its time, and if I could get a J20 with all the goodies mentioned here I wouldn't need a 1/4 ton pickup (like our beloved MJ's) or any of the larger pickups. The J20 has an excellent frame and its size is really kind of in between the larger trucks, but yet it can take on 3/4 duties. I guess that would be what I would want in a future Comanche. -
eh...that's a personal opinion. I just tried to retrain a couple wiener dogs properly. gave up and let my mom take them back, I have no patience for dogs crapping anywhere. that said, a lab or retriever is/are some of the easiest, best dogs you can get...but they've got nothing on a german shepherd :D Jeeps and dogs go together like burgers and fries. Dogs are all good to me, but then my handle says it all. I learned patience by volunteering at the local shelter many years ago, you would be horrified at what some do to their pets. :shake:

Eliminator Sticker Measurement?
jeepdoggydogB replied to over2land's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Don is correct, Spencer at jeepsticker.com has completed the design and odd measurements of the 1991-1992 Eliminator stickers. Apparently they weren't the same lengths from left-side to right-side when he did the "mirror image" calculations. He has been very good about emailing me the status and pictures of the design, and has told me all he needs to do now is make the decal! I told him at this point I am not in a hurry to get the stickers ( I am happy with the 88-90 Eliminator decals I have for now until I get my truck repainted in Jeep "black Cherry" in a few years), but would very much like to see them for sale on his website. There are a number of people here at comancheclub.com that have later built 1992's that could immediately benefit from having such decals. I will PM him and tell him the troops are getting "restless" for his product. -
Not to confound the issue, but I used DAS back in August of 2005 to ship my Jeep from Cleveland Ohio to Vallejo Ca right to my door with no problems.

Best replacement axles for a Dana 44
jeepdoggydogB replied to jeepdoggydogB's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Strange. They should have looked something like this: In the old days of Alloy USA, they could have come as threaded studs where it actually threaded into the axle flange or pressed in style (as pictured above). I am not certain, but I read somewhere that these new kits are made somewhere offshore. Maybe grade 8 type bolts actually work in Chinese or Indian vehicles :rotf: The new replacement studs were actually purchased from a local parts store by the machine shop after the technician laughed at what I had brought to him, and I did not actually see the studs until after they were pressed in the axle (hence my bad description). -

CW- much shorter, I noticed the bag with the studs had already been opened. Yep picked some up for about $3.00 each, I know I got ripped but I had to have them. Another interesting thing about the kit bolts, they were not tapered so they would need to be welded on somehow. -
What are folks opinions of the 2009-10 Cadillac CTS

Maybe :dunno: According to the CARFAX it was a corporate lease. With 2.8 years and 40,000 miles left on the warranty we felt OK about picking her up. -

Well I got the USA Alloy axle kit and the only complaint so far is the wheel studs did not match the ones that are in my current axles, not even close. :shake: But over all a quality kit. -

Well folks she has decided! -
Looks like a great deal! I have had four or five deals like that find their way to me in my lifetime, but my wifey....... :shake: says I can only own one truck at a time. My poor old Dad is even willing to let me store the trucks on his property for the small price of using them to haul or go to the dumps. My heaven is she lets me spend much on my MJ my hell is to watch all the great Jeep deals fly on by. I am with you, gotta stop looking at CL :agree:
