  1. I believe your trans is from a 95. The pilot bushing that came with the clutch should fit. Try sliding it over the tip of the trans input shaft. It should slide on with no slack. Be sure to soak it in oil over night before installing.
  2. Are the wire harnesses from the 86 or the 94 ZJ?
  3. Old bumper and Fey bumper, side by side. Fey bumper installed. The Fey was the closet to original I could find. I don't remember the price, but it was under 200US$ delivered.
  4. I got that from a Jeep service manual. I thought it was low, too. I did some more googling and found from 27 to 40 for the PRESSURE PLATE. The flywheel is 110 lbs.
  5. For replacing RMS http://comancheclub.com/topic/45246-rear-main-seal/
  6. AX15 ~3.5 qts 3.27 NP231 ~1 qt
  7. The NP231 take automatic transmission fluid (ATF)
  8. Replace rear main seal on youtube bleepinjeep: Some other guy: Replace clutch on youtube - almost 2 hrs, so make some popcorn
  9. For the pilot bearing (PB), you can rent a PB puller along with a slide hammer. The rental is free as long as you return the parts. To drive in the new PB, you will need a punch the size of the PB. I used a cheap spark plug socket the proper size. Just pound it in. To install the clutch disk and pressure plate, be sure to use the disk centering tool. It come with most clutch kits. When you attach the pressure plate be sure to tighten the bolts in a star pattern. As you do this, make sure the disk has not moved from position. If it has moved, you will NEVER get the trans to line up. You will need to loosen the pressure plate and start again. (Ask me how I know. ) The clutch is the same for both MJ and XJ as long as it matches the year of the trans.
  10. Krusty, you built a good bumper to factory specs. The Fey bumper is not factory. So, the modification had to made to the Fey. I documented what I did to get it to work. Others may try diff mods. StrokerMJ commented about flipping the L bend around. I am not sure how he would do this. (I am not a welder.) Based on how all the parts bolt together (the Fey bumper fits inside of the brackets) I cannot see how the L bend would fit at all. The Fey brackets get sandwiched between your bracket and the frame at one end and your bracket and the bumper mount at the other. There is only room for flat stock metal.
  11. I finally got the new hitch installed this weekend. Here it is the day UPS delivered it. I wanted to paint it with Por15 first so it would never rust. Here it is after painting with Por15 and some flat black from a rattle can. Next, I removed the Fey bumper and brackets. I knew the Fey brackets had an L shape to them for added support. This L shape bend will get in the way of the new hitch. Since I will not be use the bumper for towing (I never would have anyway), I cut the bend off. I thought I could only cut part of it off. But, I ended up cutting the whole bend off. Here are both brackets cut, ground down to remove the sharp edges and spray painted. After some fiddling and sweating, I got the hitch and brackets installed. This thing is heavy. I could have used a helper, but got it up with the aid of a jack and the crates you see. I got the bolts that Krusty included. The original bolts from the Jeep brackets and the Fey brackets are not long enough to fully thread on. Here is the final product, all the bolts tightened down. Now, I need to install a 4- or 5-pin wiring harness.
  12. Thanks for the write up. I will be performing this swap this month or next (Sept). My BA10 has a whine at higher RPMs. I think it is the release bearing going bad (again x5). I have a 98 XJ ax 15 and a 90 XJ NP231 ready and waiting to go in. I have two (2) ax15 crossmembers and mounting brackets. When I am done, I may put the extra parts up for CC members. I MAY.
  13. Jeepjeff859, It looks like you have a "franken-Jeep." 86 body, 94 engine and an ax15 w/ internal slave. The internal was used with the mid-89 to 93 XJ and MJ. That said, the internal slave has two lines that stick out of the bellhousing. One connects to the line from the master; the second is for bleeding. The second has the bleed nipple on the end. The pics on RA shows what looks like sleeve covers for the connects. This will keep dirt from getting on to the connector and in to the hydraulic system.
  14. IMHO - In my humble opinion TOB - Throw out bearing :waving:
  15. http://comancheclub.com/topic/12083-electrical-manual/ Download it to your desktop
  16. I'm gonna haveta drop the Fey bumper and make some mod's to it in order to fit the hitch.
  17. The UPS driver just dropped this off: Thanks Krustybailer! (for those of you who don't know or don't remember, that was from "The Jerk" with Steve Martin.)
  18. $250 more and you'll have a whole Jeep!
  19. Find a new source. The MJ and XJ front bumpers are the same.
  20. get the whole thing.,,,including the brake booster!
  21. Double check that. The 88 XJ would have come with a BA10 and a 21 spline Tcase. If a PO swapped trans and tcase then you are good to go. (The tcase for the AX15 has a 23 spline input.)
  22. You will need to find a BH for an external slave. My 2ยข: Keep looking for one with a complete ext. sl. set up. It will cost more than this one, but less than piecing them together. Ebay has BHs for $175 - $200 +/-. You'll be $500+ on a complete setup. If you can find one for $500 or under, you'll be ahead.
  23. http://york.craigslist.org/pts/5122518476.html The page has an MJ, can't tell the year, for parts. Long bed with a topper. Just FYI
