  1. Have you search craigslist? A search in my region (MD/ south PA / WV) has several avail. Mostly asking from $300 to $500.
  2. Ask what year and model the AX15 came out from. The 94+ AX15 comes with the external slave. Also, the 94+ input tip has smaller diameter. It will require changing the pilot bushing. If you do go to external, you may need/want to change the clutch while your in there. Ask what happenned the vehicle it came out from. Was is wrecked or did it just die. If it was wrecked, chances are it was being driven and operating at the time. If it died, who knows why it died. This is not a guarentee it is good, but the odds are in your favor if was operational. Make sure it has the bellhousing, backup light switch and shifter.
  3. Learned something new today.
  4. I think Jeep changed from CAD to one piece in 96. All MJs have the CAD.
  5. Not at all. It is a 10 minute procedure. Besure to have a pan to collect the oil that WILL drip out. Get some gear oil to top off the diff.
  6. I am guessing you mean the CAD bypass. http://comancheclub.com/topic/17377-cad-fix-1/ In the DIY section.
  7. 97+ doors will fit with some modification. The door latch/stike plate has to be modified for the later model door. Also, the door panel shape does not line up with the early model doors and fenders. There are some build threads on here where owners have done 97+ front end swap: doors, fenders, grill, front clip.
  8. Much of the interior can be had from an XJ - but not all. The MJ seat brackets are different from XJs. If you get bucket seats, pull them from a 2 dr XJ. These tilt forward, where the 4 dr seats do not. Is the ceiling headliner board still intact? If so, you can get it recovered. Otherwise, the headliner board is unique to an MJ. Someone on CC makes replacement headliners. Search on here. The dashes are the same. Floor pans are different but can be modified to fit if you are handy at metal work. The MJ doors are inter-changalbe with the front doors of a 4 dr (pre-97) XJ. Lots of info on here about lifting the MJ. Google it. My understanding is that the roll bar is unique to the MJ (pls correct me if that is not true). However, other brands can be modified to fit. Again, Google. It is good to hear that someone is saving an MJ. Welcome to the madness.
  9. Can you give us more detail about your MJ? Is it 4cyl or 6cyl? 4 spd or 5 spd? As for pedal assemblies, the brake and clutch pedal from a similar era XJ will fit. From you description, it sounds like the system needs bleeding. BTW - Welcome to the addiction! :waving:
  10. I doubt your changing the motor mounts damaged the slave cylinder. The internal slave are prone to failure. Like Jeep Drive said, you are going to drop the trans and change the SC. You may want to find a bell housing from a 94+ AX15 (or the whole trans). These came with external SC. These are less prone to failure.
  11. I got this from AM Autoparts. The paddle for the washer fluid broke on my original. This was the only one i could find that included cruise control
  12. BA10 = 21 splines AX15 = 23 splines whether internal or external slave.
  13. You will want a 4wd AX15, preferrably from a 94+ XJ. This will have the external slave cylinder.
  14. ...or just turn off the lights before shutting off the engine.
  15. There is a delay feature for the lights. This allows you to get in the house at night and see your way in.
  16. 275k on mine and still going. I was told by a manual trans mechanic to use Pennzoil Synchromesh.
  17. If they're both 4.0s then yes, they are compatable.
  18. Thanks Fiat. I was not sure what was holding it in place. I now know its just a bolt and O ring. On my next oil change I will rotate it.
  19. I think it the code is 8 12 MX 12 That would make the engine made on 12/12/88. The first # is yr. 2nd/3rd is month 4/5 is engine type 6/7 is day. http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f12/engine-block-code-help-1027819/ That make the Jeep a later production unit. Prob came with the AX15. (The parts manual give a trans change from BA to AX as mid October.)
  20. Some questions you should find out: What trans did the truck originally come with - BA10 or AX15? Did the PO swap the full trans or just the BH? Is the engine original? I would assume he only changed the trans/BH with the CPS and kept the Renix flywheel.
  21. In this thread and your slave cylinder thread, it confirms that the PO changed the bell housing from a 94+ AX15. He must have kept the CPS from the bellhousing. You will need to swap the CPS off the BH with the socond. (If he swapped engines too, all bets are off.)
  22. Rockauto has one for $120. When you search for the assembly, be sure to specify it is for a 94+ Jeep, 6 cyl, AX15. If you specify for a pre-94, they will try to sell you the internal slaves.
  23. Sloride, that may solve the issue of crawling under the truck. However, in its current location, it drips oil on the starter when I remove the OF. Another reason to change its position.
  24. It looks like the PO did a conversion for the bell housing to the external. 89 was a change over yr from the BA10 to AX15. The truck may have come with an AX15. But the AX15 would have come with the internal slave. However, the slave looks like it came off of an "all-in-one" master/slave system. The master cylinder looks like OE. My guess (and it is just that) is the PO slapped the slave on there to cover up an incomplete hydraulic system.
