  1. mine has the ash tray back there. I did not notice it until the truck was 20 yrs. old. Production date May 87, so it is a late 87 model.
  2. That's really sad to here. My heart goes out to you. Do you want some snow? Actually, this is the first significant snow we've had this year. When it wraps up Wednesday, we could have 8" to 12". I should not complain too much. New England was dumped on by three back-to-back storms earlier this month.
  3. Where’s that global warming they have been promising?
  4. NHMJXJ, you would want to get the XJ dash light set. Jason (with OneWayLights) sells the B-pillar light separately. Dash lights http://www.onewaylight.com/1984-2001-jeep-cherokee-xj-instrument-light-set-white/ B-pillar http://www.onewaylight.com/2x-37-5mm-festoon-led-with-3x-cree-xp-d-6000k/ I tried to order the dash lights back in Dec, but he said they were out of stock. I have not tried to re-order yet.
  5. Some people may recommend concrete for the BA10. However, I would not be that extreme. I was told by trans shop to use Pennzoil Synchromesh.
  6. Regarding your AW4 troubles, i have two AW4s that I am not using.  One came out of a 87 XJ, the other came from a 93 XJ.  I bought both XJs as non-running, so I have not seen them operate. In both cases, I was told by the PO's (different people) that they were working/shifting fine when the XJs were parked.

If you make it out to MD this year, let me know.

Very kind of you to offer!  No plans on traveling near MD any time soon, though we're thinking about hitting the Atlantic Ocean beach maybe some time this early Summer.

I'm actually hauling my truck tomorrow to a local reputable transmission shop.  I have exhausted my personal schedule to do any more significant work on my truck.  I'm in a band that is quite busy on weekends and that's about all the time I get to work on my truck.   I feel really dumb for screwing this transmission up, but I hope to get pictures of the damage to share so that others can learn from my mistake.  I'm really curious what it looks like inside that Torque Converter/pump and body.   I'll find out tomorrow if its going to require a full rebuild.

Thank you for the offer.  It's a bit disappointing to see negative input into this forum.  There's occasional attitudes and cockiness that irritates me, so it's nice to see there's some cool and truly helpful people out there in this Comanche community too.

Some people are very passionate about their view - perhaps too passionate.

I try to ignore them and/or not join in the discussions.

Unless someone makes me a reasonable offer, the trans will still be here this summer.  If you get to Baltimore, you'll pass right by my office.  Literally.  I back up to I-70.

  7. This is a perfect example of GIGO (garbage in, garbage out)
  8. What year? Anyone with a Renix needs to check out Cruiser's Renix Tips - www.cruiser54.com Additionally, you can purchase Nick's Renix Engine Monitor (REM). Search for Nickintime on either facebook or youtube. He sells a scanner that will read the Renix ECU. On CC there are pdfs for the 88 electrical wiring and the Renix fuel system. 88 electrical Fuel system
  9. My MPG dropped and I didn’t know why. I purchased the REM from nickintime on facebook/youtube. i discovered my O2 sensor was busted. I changed it, now the MPG is back up.
  10. If you have not downloaded the 88 electrical manual, I would recommend you do so. It has the wiring diagram for cruise control. It will help you trace and identify the wires/connectors.
  11. I like the new CC header Just like the post-86 emblem
  12. A 4wd conversion shouldn't matter if the donor is Renix or not. If the 8.25 is a must,then get a 93+ 4wd XJ.
  13. The 8.25 was never offered in a Renix era MJ/XJ. So, you will have to search for a 93+ XJ to get the 8.25. The D30 was offered throughout the MJ XJ line. An AW4 from any year 4.0 XJ will bolt up to the MJ. Assuming you buy a complete 4wd XJ, you'll get the matching tcase....you know the rest (spline count differences on the tcase). You will need to have the rear drive shaft made to fit the MJ. The XJ D.S. will not be the proper length for the MJ. The front D.S. is a direct swap.
  14. The manual shifting automatic transmission. (Finger protection not included.)
  15. "Tastes great!" "Less filling!"
  16. In the first 25 years of the truck, it was on its 5th slave cylinder. I said it was not going to see a 6th.
  17. As I have said in previous threads, my BA10 never left me stranded. I put over 270k on it. My problem with it was the internal slave cylinder. That was why I swapped in an external slave AX15. Yes, the AX15 is a better trans for Jeeps.

  20. Do you think they could figure out that they just need to shovel the asphalt out of the truck and fill the hole? Then they can drive home!
  21. I @$$-U-Me he has the sensor and the short cable. The Napa cables will screw on to the sensor, but not the speedo cluster.
  22. Napa has the cables for cruise control 63" - BK6151604 87" - BK6151606 I purchased the 63" and it fits fine from the speedo to the tcase. Good luck
  23. Do you have cruise control or not?
  24. Is the fuel sending unit the same for the 86 2.8 and the later 4.0? Can it be adapted to 4.0 23 gal tank? There's an 86 2.8 in the JY near me.
