  1. No. The one I saw had no lift and no striping down the side. Yours is nice, though the driver had had short dark hair and glasses, if that helps
  2. Driving up the Jersey turnpike. I saw a white eliminator- 91-92. It was in immaculate condition. I tried to catch the driver’s attention but he didn’t look over

    Scored an AX15

I went back today to grab the fly wheel from the 96 XJ. Some (child of an unmarried woman) took the master/slave cylinder. They butchered it up - cut the hose off the slave end and master end. I had removed the slave off the bell housing. They unbolted the master from the firewall. All the person had to do was fish the hose and line through the fire wall. Oh well.
  4. Is the master cylinder level dropping after driving it around? Have you checked inside the cab for leaking of the MC over top of the fuse box? Maybe the MC internals are failing and fluid is getting past the seals.

    Scored an AX15

Went to a local P-n-P today. When I got there, they had a 90 XJ w/ a 4wd AX15 internal slave cylinder bell housing AND a 96 XJ w/ a 2wd AX15 external slave cylinder bell housing. I left with a 4wd AX15 with the external slave cylinder bell housing. The JY has a 2wd AX15 with an internal slave cylinder bell housing. I also grabbed the dust shield, internal shifting fork and the bearing retainer cover.

  9. yup, BA 10.
  10. Perhaps I did not choose the correct terms. The studs on the tcase are in the same position on whether it came from a MJ/XJ/YJ. The "clocking difference" is the location of the holes drilled on the backing plate of the trans. These hole locations will cause the tcase to clock differently. (Lots of youtube videos on drilling new holes to align the tcase between models.) If the PO pulled the trans from a YJ and didn't drill new holes, this will cause the clocking diff I was bringing up. As Minuit brought up, the PO prob cut the floor to access the upper bolts.
  11. The YJ transmission clocks differently than an XJ/MJ trans. From what I've seen/read there would be no need to cut the floor, especially up that high.
  12. Both the AX15/231 and the BA10/231 line up with the factory trans-tunnel/console opening. There was not need to cut the floor. If the PO cut the floor when he/she did the 4wd conversion makes me think he/she "took some liberties" with the swap. You should check the work to make sure nothing is F'ed up.
  13. Hey! Don't go knockin' Corvairs! My dad had two and he loved them. R Nader does not know how to drive, that's all.
  14. There are lots of thread on CC with the parts list and steps to perform. I did the swap on mine several years ago and made a thread. (Sadly, the pictures were uploaded on photobucket and the links were broken.) Several items that come to mind immediately (assuming you have a BA 10): A tcase that mates to the AX15 (the one with the BA will not fit) AX15 trans mount and cross member (again, the ones for the BA10 will not fit.) You don't say if your AX15 has the internal or external slave cylinder. This is important not only for the slave cylinder, but also for the clutch kits. The tcase shift linkage for the AX15 (you can modify the BA to work or purchase after market shifters) Depending on the year of the AX15, the input shaft tip size changed from ~1/2" to ~3/4". You would have to change the pilot bearing/bushing. (See changing clutch kit above.) Others may add to this list. Good luck.
  15. yes, it does. I have an 87 electric manual (paper) and the 88 manual (pdf). I found at least 2 cases where the 87 manual does not match the actual wiring in my MJ. However, the 88 manual does match the wiring in the truck. My truck had May 87 production date. AMC must have run out of the 87 wiring harness. The assembly line must have used the 88 harness.
  16. Not a problem.
  17. Nice truck, Horn. But it looks like a Renix
  18. The picture was the right side. Based on his written question, you are correct. However, I was referring to his picture.
  19. On my MJ those are on the left side
  20. XJs used the same dash bezel. Those two spaces had rear window wiper and defroster switches. MJs did not have either switch.
  21. For quite a few years, my MJ was a weekend-to-the-hardware-store truck. For probably 5 years, I put on less than 1000 mile per yr. I started to drive it more frequently and remembered how much I love it. I was also looking to get another vehicle to be a DD. No new cars/trucks captured my interest. I then started to look at getting the MJ a "refreshing." I spent less to have it refreshed (engine rebuild, rust repair and repaint) then a new vehicle would cost. Now my MJ looks (almost) new. It is my DD. I receive lots of compliments almost daily. I plan on keeping it another 30+ years.
  22. XJ rear wipers and defroster. Neither ones for an MJ.
