No, the original engine in the M-715 was the Jeep 230 OHC "Tornado" inline 6. Not the AMC 232 or 258 (which are identical in outward appearance, both with the intake and exhause on the left side unlike the engine in this picture). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jeep_Tornado_engine The 230 OHC Tornado had the intake on the left and exhaust on the right. http://www.oramagazine.com/pastIssues/0 ... le=oldiron ah, humbly corrected. Now I'm curious as to the trans in that thing.

Here's how you do it. Truck and Trailer, if the truck can run and move from its sitting place, $750-800. But, that being said, the low-deal approach can also work here, Say the best I can do for the truck is $400 but truck + trailer I can do $550?

Rareish? Thats homebrew m'friend :P Hardtops are 1 in 200 to find on whats left in the M-715 world.

From further study. That is a Ford 300 I6. The shifter is from a ford small car (looks similar to XJ's but this one has a hump. Its possibly NOT 4x4 anymore either, as it would have been Righthanded Pumpkin and from the look of that engine, its from the Lefthanded drop pumpkin days of Ford. It should have a 232 Jeep I6 in there, with a ha-uuuuge gear ratio in the axles and a really low 4spd manual trans.

Once again an owner, '87 4.0 Auto this time.

For the $400 price I paid on this behemoth, I also get enough spare parts to rebuild nearly the entire truck. I'm set for parts :P -

That ugly assault of the hood and header stemmed from losing the keys and needing the hood open to start it... friggin PO's sometimes. -

Thats no 258. Intake is on the wrong side, and its got an automatic conversion, should be a 232 4spd with a Dana 200 case. Someone's tried to have their way with it but the most important parts are there. $600? Why isnt it in your driveway yet :D

Pete, atleast all of your MJ's are one solid colour. Mine rocks red fenders, black cab, purpley-blue hood and header backed by a red tailgate between a rattlecanned bed in black flavour. It needs a serious paintjob, going to be like my old MJ. Rustoleum Orange. -
The first one was a bog-standard 1989 SporTruck. 2.5 litres of angry squirrel backed by a 4spd 2wd AX-4. I regretably sold it last October to make way for my dearly departed 1989 XJ. Well I was entertaining the idea of Smurph's '87 SWB 2.5L that needed some lovin' but passed on that only to find an '87 closer to home. It started out as a 4.0/automatic 2wd SporTruck. The PO ran this from Belleville to Toronto each weekend for 7 years before the first 4.0 started blowing oil. Now, for most Ontario-members, 1987 is the Emissions Cutoff year. Well before that, there was the rolling exemption, 1987 Wasn't 20 years gone by so out the original 4.0 came. In went a complete XJ drivetrain including the full guages AMC-era dash and bucket seats + console dash and doors. Black interiors are spiffy stuff. The AW-4 and NP231 went in with the front D-30. That motor did the same thing, spew oil past the rings so out it came and in went another 4.0. I bought it for $400 CDN tonite with a busted windshield, no tires or rims, a dud fuel pump, no alternator or rad. The best part is that a literal bedfull of spare parts incl a new fuel pump came with it. Its going to be a wheeler and stay automatic for the girlfriend's driving pleasure. Pics tmrw afternoon/evening.

man, the 6spd upgrade will be nice. How did you figure the spun bearings? Moreso, how did you manage that?

Console options for a bench seat?
Kenosha Warrior replied to mknherhappy's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Handy with wood? I was going to make a nice wooden console that sat between the shifter console (the little dinky plastic one) and the indent in the bench seat. -
To take a line from your signature.... Simon says turn off caps lock :brows:

First of all, stop putting it in drive, too much High-RPM engagement will crack the case or worse. Second of all, Go over your VAC lines. 3100 RPM is fairly high for a 4.o and a good sized Vac leak would do it.

taillight removal more problems
Kenosha Warrior replied to thejum57's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
hey, an IFSJA transplant! Nice. Second, yeah, bad ground on one of the front turn signal sockets. Go get some Ford universal sockets, swap'em and you should be set. -
