  1. Lewt, as right as you may be, axles swap easy, espc. between FSJ trucks.
  2. you can tell. Trust me The truck looks sorta goofy as a LWB. Its LONG with a cab. Trick is, if there's about a foot between the gas door and cab its a SWB, LWB is about 1 1/2ft
  3. what engine light? Renix has no CEL.
  4. I fiured that. in the few days Ive been offline due to a dead modem, I grabbed a few working spares and scured all the tools to do it roadside-stye if need be.
  5. Get it home, and rebuild the carb then tune the hell out of it and it'll survive. IFSJA.org is your friend whence that truck gets home to you :P
  6. How would I check the EGR? Its sorta like backfiring. But, now I see, that in-city I don't notice it, but if Ive got more than 1/4 tank, it won't do it.
  7. my xj has an AX-15?
  8. I remember 87Manche saying his AX-15 was doing the same thing and that was 100,000miles ago when it started. AFAIK My XJ's PO said it was sorta finiky doing 2-3 and 4-3 shifts the odd time, since 1994!
  9. Normally it won't do it on take-off or 2nd but 2-3 and 3-4 shifts it will stutter, shake and waddle like its a dog passing a pinecone. Oddly though, it won't do it all the time. I'm as confused as hell, I cleared out my airintake blockage, Ive put a new gascap on it, all EVAP lines are good, what is my problem!? argh its an 89 4.0 BA-10 5spd.

    REALLY?

Its 50-50 that MJ's have AC. XJ's up here it goes like the trans. 5spd with leather no AC, 5spd with no options, AC. Its weird.
  11. I'm waiting for the snow to go away to drag home an old Honda CVCC thats sitting at the JY. I'm using the motor and trans for a buggy project for the gf.
  12. welcome back Nate! Can't say we've missed you :P kidding!
  13. normally you do a twinstick. Its doable, maybe some adapter plates to buy but thats it. I was considering doing one up for when the XJ goes trail only.
  14. helluva undertaking but its doable. The Mounts, IIRC, are in the same spots. I'm thinking 2.5 Renix to 4.0 Renix, not 2.5 Renix to 4.0 Chryco so I'm not 100%
  15. Id tell my old man to shove off but I'd probably see a flat-back come for the XJ no sooner than those words leaving my mouth. that and I'd probably lose my free livin's while at school.
  16. Can it be done? I know the oilpan needs to vamoose but what else must move? 4.0 BA-10/5 drivetrain
  17. KenoshaWarrior what most old-timers round here refer to Jeeps as. 'Those old Kenosha Warriors'
  18. Valvoline Special Mix for Industrial Diesel vehicles. Its free from my dad's work comes in 10w30 flavour and slides through a Wix filter.
  19. I don't have an MJ anymore but I was sure starin' that the hottie driving a 89 Eliminator. Hehe, stopped to get gas at my station. 5spd, stroker 4.5L, 231 with a 44 rearend and 3.55's She says she built it herself and the way she drove that sucker I'd believe it.
  20. I run wix religeously. Napa Gold is a WIX filter renamed and Ive ran them for ages, this was an idiot move to go fram on my part. Christ, the WIX that was on the engine with 2500km on it is better than that damn fram.
  21. It depends. I ran a fram for one change on my old 2.5L MJ and didnt have an issue, but this one, knocking right outta the box doesnt fly with me.
  22. So I got into a pinch and had to change my oil (don't ask) I did the runaround to get a filter and ended up with everyone closed except Canadian Tire, and guess what, no Motomaster brand filters, just FRAM, So I figured, why not, grabbed the High Mileage filter and took off. Get home, get everything buttoned back up with fresh stuff, do the start. knockknockknockknockknockknockknockknock f*ck, get out, check for major puddle, check for leak, check for any stupid mistake. Nope all clear? Start again, knockknockknockknockknockknockknockknock. So I swap to my old filter, no noise... So off to canadian tire again with this filter, so maybe I can get a refund or SOMETHING. Christ, I had less than 3L of oil in the damn 4.0 and it never knocked, this damn thing had EVERY drop of oil in it and knocked like it was dying.
  23. I guess the fact an auto eats alot of HP to get up to snuff and move whereas an mt is a direct connect sorta deal
