  1. What are you wanting to use it for? Looks or practical use (winch and recovery) a lot of them out there are mostly just for looks. The ones jeep offered are an example. When you fab it up be sure to attach it to the frame if you plan to use it for recovery. My build thread has a few pics of the warn setup my grille guard uses.
  2. for reference, review over my closed to open cooling DIY http://comancheclub.com/topic/44535-closed-to-open-cooling-diy/ it should help with trouble shooting.
  3. what price range are you looking for? Are you looking for a Grille Guard that covers the existing bumper (like Mine), or a new bumper with brush guards (with or without a winch mount?
  4. Haha , yeah right !! I agree with comanchekid45 a quick release pin would be the only thing I can think of. The 5th wheel hitch in the f250 had 4 quick release pins. Depending on how much fab work you are willing to do, I have a couple ideas that involve cutting up the sport bar.
  5. Merica and Manche, get me the most...
  6. You could give me the sport bar.... Then I'll be the one dealing with space issues lol
  7. Thanks! That's always a boost of confidence! I'll be buying another prime 4x4 switch panel, this one covers the coin holder on the console and will add 3 switches. Unfortunately I'll be moving the front locker and e-fan switches down to the switch panel under the ash tray and adding a winch power switch and a momentary rocker switch for in / out winch control to the switch panel to the right of the steering wheel. Not hard just a PITA getting those switches out... The layout under the ashtray so far will be: panel master power / e-fan / front e-locker / rear e-locker / aux power. The new 3 switch panel will add: left side work lights / front aux lights / right work lights.
  8. a bit off topic but how are you liking that Rusty's bumper?
  9. did the MJ start with the BA10 or AW4?
  10. My D30 has a selectable E-Locker, and the D44 has an Aussie auto locker. I drive in full time 4wd all the time because I can with the NP242. I don't really notice the Aussie in full time 4wd or 2wd.
  11. Fixed my winch..... Apparently I managed to overlook the Positive battery terminal when i cleaned the negative battery terminal and all the winch connections..... Katelyn cleaned up my console for me while it was out. I installed the proper foot vent for my console, swapped out the NP231 shift gate for the NP242 gate, and added a Prime 4x4 console switch plate. While I was at it i swapped out the old switched for new ones with labels, and now these are wired up to the ignition. No more dead batteries!
  12. I have an electrical manual, Click the jeep in my signature or the links that says manuals here
  13. how to you have it attached to the bed, or is it not attached?
  14. i have ZJ CV shafts on my MJ, I rarely wheel so its mostly for the full time 4wd use. the ones i had had the ABS ring on it but i used a puller to remove it.
  15. From what i gather the TCU is a separate harness. I just was not sure if the 5 speed and auto engine harness leading up to the C101 where the same, and if the wiring from the C101 to the ECU where different between the two I've been debating an auto swap for a while. my current trans is in need of a rebuild and i figured now would be a good time to swap an auto if i wanted one.
  16. While we are all interested in the C101, would it be possible to swap a 5 speed harness for an automatic harness at the C101. I know there is the wiring required for the TCU, but if the ECU where swapped with the C101 engine harness would that be a viable option for swapping to a auto tranny or would it still require a more in depth rewire?
  17. yours looks slightly different from mine. Later on i purchased the "angled light bar" required for adding lights to the "grille guard center"... Annnnd somehow i don't have a picture with the angled light bar installed.... The Trans4mer Grille guard is considered "modular" by WARN. So you have the Grille Guard center, Brush Guards, Light bar, and winch carrier (or front 2" hitch) all being separate purchases.
  18. If nothing else it is a good starter winch for utility work, i would not be completely dependent on a 5k winch for offroad recovery. I did pull this log out of the woods on the 3ed and 4th cable layers as a straight pull afterwards to pull it it required both the 5.7 tundra and my MJ to pull the tree to the burn pile
  19. I have the warn trans4mer grille guard and love it. Now for the winch, you only get that full 5k with the first layer of cable (closest to the drum) after that it will degrade quickly. i think for my outer later (smittybuilt XRC-8) it only has a 6k pull rating. a snatch block will help but i would go with a bigger winch. $650 for the grille guard, winch carrier, and a starter utility winch is a good deal however. as compared to what i paid.....
  20. ... well i tend to over think things and over look the simple options...
  21. Suppose you wanted "extended idle" or "Up Idle" or "High Idle" or whatever you would like to call it. there has been a basic workaround for renix units (located here). But I thought of a potentially better alternative or several ideas at least. I'm just not sure how the ECU controls the IAC. Does it control it by varying the voltage or resistance (ohms) and that is the operating range (from max open to max closed)? I'm thinking about possibly making a separate circuit that is toggle-able via a relay. (off = stock circuit, on = custom circuit)
  22. there was a guy over on the charger forums who made a homemade ram air, he routed it through the headlight (replacing one of the high beams), and had a tube feeding the air to the factory airbox. he tracked the car, but i am not sure if it was also a DD due to the other mods. their only concern was rain causing hydro lock. it was later decided light to med rain would not be much of an issue due to the design of the HEMI Airbox used on the chargers. Other members did similar things to achieve the same end result. The Jeep world equivalent would be adding a snorkel.
