  1. Hey folks. Going with the econo 2 inch spacers in front and drop shackles in back on the old mule. For Looks mostly. Factory ride height works fine for me for what I do with the truck. While I have the front axle out, thought it would be a good time. While I am at it, the factory shocks look rough. Rusty, etc. Should I replace? They are not leaking. If I do, what do you recommend? Will stock spec shocks work with this little lift? It is a Metric Ton. Does that matter on shocks? Should I replace the steering stabilizer at the same time? Thanks!
  2. Technical Difficulties. Oh well, you can look at my build thread for pics.
  3. Time flies when you work all the time! :fs1: So, I got the axle in the barn and today actually had a little time. Got all the stuff off of the new axle. It was cut out of the Cherokee so I had to remove the shocks, track bar, sway bar links, etc. etc. It is ready to install now. Now just have to get more time to remove the old one from the truck. . :MJ 1: .
  4. Looks like a nice truck.
  5. so, just get the coopers. Done.
  6. Treaddepot.com is where I bought tires for my focus and I also bought the same cooper AT3 31X10.50's that Jeep Driver bought. Mounted and Balanced for 82$ less than he did. That is why you shop online. They are on the wife's TJ. We love them. Much more aggressive looking tread than the BFG TA KO's. More modern design. They ride smoother. Wife thinks her TJ is a Cadillac now. We'll see on the tread wear.
  7. I was at the local grocery and saw not 1 but 2 Comanche's in the parking lot. And neither was mine since it is currently still awaiting me to fix the front axle in the barn. Considering how small the town is, that is pretty amazing. Left a card on the windshield of the first one and the owner walked up. Had a short conversation with him about the trucks. He said he would check out the site. As I pulled towards the exit, there was another. Crazy. Stopped and left a card on his windshield. Will have to get more cards if this keeps up. Hopefully 1 of both of them will join. :dunno:
  8. I like the marauder.
  9. You will find everything you need to know right here. Enjoy!

    4.0

I am pretty sure that the 4.0 won't fit in your 86 without firewall modifications. If I had an 86, I would look into getting a 3.4L from a Camaro. They are externally the same engine and are a direct swap. More power and better reliability than the old 2.8.
  11. Mine's not drive-able right now either, but I got a front axle waiting to go in that will make it so. Merry Christmas and happy new year to all.
  12. Got the whole housing, so my question was originally about the driveshaft ujoints.
  13. Yep. Very nice. Good solid $7K truck. Hope he loves the truck, because he is probably keeping it.
  14. So stock ujoints will work then? I thought there were different ones I was supposed to get.
  15. replacing the old front axle that is boogered up and upgrading to non cad while I'm at it. It is already 4x4. (See my sig)
  16. I got a front dana 30 out of a 97 non abs Cherokee. 355 gears like what I've got. What do I need to do to get it in? I believe I read that the Ujoints are different. Is there one I need to buy to adapt? Anything else?
  17. kept it from rusting.
  18. My first thought? No manual tranny. Can hardly get them in anything anymore. Pisses me off.
  19. would love to see the inside of the bed.
  20. Truck has been performing pretty well since I did all of this. However, I just replaced the transfer case and will soon the front axle. I boogered it up and will be seeking out a non CAD one to fix. (When I have time) Sitting on jackstands in the barn right now. Still on the todo list: The aforementioned front axle replacement Windshield Parking Brake Cables minor 2" or less lift. Probably need to replace the rear bumper. Some minor rust repair. Would like to upgrade the doors to the one piece ones from newer XJ's.
  21. Gamblers. Yes, 5 hole factory 15X8 TJ Wheel. 31X10.5 BFG AT's. Thought so. "Gamblers" are the factory 5-hole wheels, right? Those are the ones that would be my choice for a 15" wheel... but I would prefer a 16" or 17" wheel (even if only plain steel ones) if available to run 31s without rubbing. Anyone have info on any such options?
  22. Mine has 15X8 TJ rims. Gamblers. Only rubbing on LCA's.
  23. Yep. Like they said above. check out my sig pic. And my build thread.
  24. OK, so I welded it, but my welds sucked and gave way. I didn't do it how I should have. I am just replacing the whole thing. The transfer case was bad and the new one is acting as it should. However, now the CAD section where I welded it is broken and now boogered up. So F it. New non CAD axle coming my way. Stupid design anyway!
