That don't help me much. All I got is my phone. Company laptop has so security on it I can't go to the website. Just have to wait til I get home. Or figure out to go to the desktop version. Now that'll be challenging. 89 Comanche Eliminator 2wd 4.0L 5 speed PukeGoat Factory Original

Where did they go? I don't see even mine. Looking specifically for Pete M for a link he talked about. There are no signatures displayed either on Tapatalk app or www.comancheclub.com mobile site. I used to see them. Did something change or operator error? 89 Comanche Eliminator 2wd 4.0L 5 speed PukeGoat Factory Original

Well I know of 5 that are gone. Parts of 4 of them on on my Comanche. The fifth one a Hurricane took it somewhere back in the 90s. 89 Comanche Eliminator 2wd 4.0L 5 speed PukeGoat Factory Original

No pictures, but after 18 years My wife has decided it's time to renovate the master bathroom. At least the Jeep runs and drives but no money next month or two to tinker on it. New floor, paint lights, and a granite counter top and sinks and faucets. Pulled the trigger tonight on the contractor, (told her I wasn't doing it). Been looking at stuff and ordering for a month now. Now she's talking doing the kitchen again after the bathroom. I just redid it 8 years ago. But happy wife, happy life! No rear brakes
tugboat95 replied to Dickinson County Comanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
That would be the first easy cheap thing to try. You say it was down, could be gotten a gulp of air in the line leading to the rear. 89 Comanche Eliminator 2wd 4.0L 5 speed PukeGoat Factory Original -
I kind of thought the same. But I'm new to these engines. I just don't know what normal is for THIS engine. I work on and maintain the same diesel engines day in and day out. Every engine has its quirks. I have two Cat 3516 engines. One always reads 10 to 12 degrees hotter than other. And they are were built side by side only one digit in serial number is different. But I'm getting confident that everything on this 4.0 is working like it should, minus AC. 89 Comanche Eliminator 2wd 4.0L 5 speed PukeGoat Factory Original

What I found out today Idled for about 30 minutes. It's only 77 degrees today, FINALLY! Temp gauge reads right at 212. Block at the gauge sensor reads 207 to 209 This is also at the back with no air flow furthest from the radiator right next to the exhaust. It's just a hot location. Water out of engine (hose)is 148. Water into engine(hose) is about 122. Temps of radiator: Into 137 Out 117 At the temperature switch its 111 to 115 Engine temps: On the block at each injector. 156 to 170 On the block at the spark plug valley. 135 to 150. Exhaust manifold location has to allow for the injector side higher temps. Hot side of Tstat housing is 196 Low side of Tstat housing is 160 Block at Tstat is 204 If this was one of my diesel engines I'd be very happy with the range and their relationships with each other. Should I be happy with I6 Renix??? 89 Comanche Eliminator 2wd 4.0L 5 speed PukeGoat Factory Original

Looks good. I just started the process of building my own shop. Luckily I don't have to deal with a town or permits etc. I've chosen 24 by 34 by 12 foot tall. plenty of room for the Comanche but my Ram crew cab fills it up. I also want a lift. The height is killing me on price. Almost adds a third more and straining my budget for it. Gotta finish the wife's kitchen remodel them I'm pulling the trigger on the shop. Lived here for 18 years and always wanted one. Decided last month I was too old to crawl under a vehicle anymore. So a lift is needed and a building to wrap it in. Wife agreed after I told here she can have the garage on the house for anything she wants....I'm moving my shop out. Sent from my KFKAWI using Tapatalk

I'm getting a temp of about 150 in that area of the radiator. Tomorrow I'll investigate it a little further and more location specific to both temperature sensors. I've not experienced any overheating. Just wondering what made this thing turn on. 89 Comanche Eliminator 2wd 4.0L 5 speed PukeGoat Factory Original

At what temperature is this thing supposed to come on? I can make it run and I know all the wiring is good. I do not know if the radiator temperature switch is good. I assume it is. (Yeah, I know) I replaced the relay so I know its good. I jumped the relay socket and its good. It does have AC and that relay is good as well. The AC does not work right now and I'm assuming its because there is no refrigerant in it. I fixed a known leak in it and haven't recharged the system. I haven't diagnosed any further. This was discovered immediately after refilling the coolant with 45 dollars worth of antifreeze, so I'm not crazy about pulling the switch out to test. I'm not sure how the AC relay plays into it especially when I can't get the compressor to come on with out the refrigerant in it. I'm wondering if my radiator just isn't getting hot enough. I read online that the fan comes on at 216 degrees, but I can't find this in the manual. Anybody have in insight in this issue? I also know there is a diode in the system. I'm wondering it its worth just wiring it up with a switch and a fuse?

So yesterday was flush the coolant day. I also replaced the thermostat, its housing, the lower radiator hose, and two heater hoses. After putting everything back together I was very worried about burping the Jeep. No issues. I parked the truck with the rear end uphill and slowly filled the pressure bottle. Then I started the engine with the heater on full blast, confirmed I had positive flow thru the bottle, then sealed the cap. Ran it until the Tstat opened. Determined this by taking the temperature of the upper radiator hose. Then I shut down the engine and let it sit for about 15 minutes or so, then I slowly, under a towel, cracked the pressure bottle cap and relieved all the pressure but keeping the coolant in it. Coolant in the bottle immediately drained into the the engine. Then I restarted the engine. I did this process three times, each time the amount of coolant that drained was less. I also drilled a small hole into the thermostat and placed it at the 12:00 position. Today I drove it about 90 minutes in the North Carolina heat in both 70mph hwy and sitting in stop and go traffic. Old readings stayed at about 212-215 on the guage (accuracy???) Now its sits at about 209 while driving and goes up to about 215 sitting. In the driveway I measured the head and radiator, and everything else with a temp gun. I'm satisfied with the ranges I am seeing. Water going into the engine is about 177, coming out is just about 205. Radiator is actually showing 155. All these temps are sitting in the driveway, so higher is expected. I don't know what the normal temps are supposed to be, or how accurate the guage is. I know the large bore diesels I work on like to stay within a 25 degree difference in and out. I have checked and rechecked the bottle several times today to see what the level is. Hasn't moved all day.

I look at at it thru the TapaTalk app. Although the search feature works better thru a Google search on a laptop. 89 Comanche Eliminator 2wd 4.0L 5 speed PukeGoat Factory Original

A few weeks ago, I ordered a complete kit of both the inner door and the window liners on the door from these people, for two doors. I have not received it yet so I don't know the quality. Price was reasonable. They called me within an hour of placing the order and saying to Covid it was on back order until the middle of August, (now). Give them a look. https://www.ocautocarpets.com/wn-product/beltine-fd-kit-4pcs-27835/ -

It helps me out. I got a sheet but I have no idea what half the codes mean. I see some decoding in my near future. Awesome find! Thanks! 89 Comanche Eliminator 2wd 4.0L 5 speed PukeGoat Factory Original

I used to like a lot of country but as I get older I don't like the newer stuff. I find myself listening to Amazon 90s country and 80s hits. It goes full circle. I've turned into my Dad listening to 60s music on the oldies channel while I was growing up. 89 Comanche Eliminator 2wd 4.0L 5 speed PukeGoat Factory Original
