  1. I still don't like the cheap plastic look and feel of the new injectors, but they aren't leaking, and I just filled up the gas tank to do a mpg check over the next week or so. So the jury is still out there. 89 Comanche Eliminator 2wd 4.0L 5 speed PukeGoat Factory Original
  2. Yep...looked attached but when I touched, it wasn't. 89 Comanche Eliminator 2wd 4.0L 5 speed PukeGoat Factory Original
  3. Took my newly fixed ride to the local garage today for my annual state inspection so I can renew the tags. My normal guy wasn't available today so I just picked the local Quick Lube. The attendant got my info and I walked inside to stay warm. I watched him wave his buddy over in a Come Look at This gesture. Both guys did a complete walk around checking it out inside and out. After completing the inspection both guys walked over to me and talked about it. One had never seen one and both were heavily impressed both with the condition it's in and the fact it's a Comanche. Guys weren't necessarily Jeep guys but gear heads. Very appreciative of the older stuff and attention to saving history of all automotive types. Felt pretty cool to see a little jealously there. 89 Comanche Eliminator 2wd 4.0L 5 speed PukeGoat Factory Original
  4. Found the issue. While disconnecting the injector wires to pull the rail and reinstall old injectors I noticed a loose vacuum line. I thought it was hooked up but it wasn't seated. Pushed it on all the way, replugged the wires. Running like a top now. Gonna leave the new injectors in for now and keep the old ones as spares. 89 Comanche Eliminator 2wd 4.0L 5 speed PukeGoat Factory Original
  5. Yeah I saw that after I posted it. 89 Comanche Eliminator 2wd 4.0L 5 speed PukeGoat Factory Original
  6. I'm leaning towards that. I just don't like the look of the new injectors 89 Comanche Eliminator 2wd 4.0L 5 speed PukeGoat Factory Original
  7. Lots of smoke on startup. But it cleared up. I chalked that up to using motor oil on the injector orings to seat them. I did not pull the distributor. As I didn't want to mess with timing. It's possible I moved it but then it would be loose now and it's not 89 Comanche Eliminator 2wd 4.0L 5 speed PukeGoat Factory Original
  8. Everything is correct. I labeled all wires and they are still labeled 89 Comanche Eliminator 2wd 4.0L 5 speed PukeGoat Factory Original
  9. So I replaced the head gasket on my 4.0l. Along with that I installed new Bosch injectors. These were advertised as Bosch but what showed up in the mail had Chinese writing on the packaging. And look like cheap plastic. Engine fired right up but is running badly. Sounds like a misfire . very rough idle as well as at speed. Engine has a vibration. I can see it rocking in the engine bay. That transfers to the truck as well. So what did I do wrong? My first guess is the injectors. I've checked all the vacuum lines. They all appear to be hooked up. Head was checked and machined, I know it's good. Fuel lines are all good, injectors are not leaking. Injector Wires are Connected and locked on. 89 Comanche Eliminator 2wd 4.0L 5 speed PukeGoat Factory Original

  12. Somewhere behind all the stuff is my layout. Haven't worked on it (or played) in almost 3 years now. Spent one winter at sea a few years ago and didn't mess with it. Last winter my mother in law passed away and 90% of this "stuff" showed up. This winter ain't looking too good either. Getting rid of this stuff is not a fight I'm willing to take on right now. 89 Comanche Eliminator 2wd 4.0L 5 speed PukeGoat Factory Original
  13. Got a 9x11 double wishbone layout setup in a spare bedroom. But due to wife's inability to throw crap away, I can no longer get to it. Room is full of her deceased mothers stuff. It has a NCE digital control and custom engines and cars. I work in the oil transportation industry so it has a oil terminal and loading pier. I'm also a volunteer fireman so it also has an obligatory structure fire going on at the local downtown 5 and Dime general store. If I can ever gets the stuff out if that room I might get to mess with it again. It's usually my winter project as I don't like to be cold and tend to stay inside. As far as tools I have a soldering gun and a stand with clips to hold stuff. Also a good set of jewellers screwdrivers and a good adjustable light. But most of my tools are found in my toolchest in the garage that also work on the Comanche. 89 Comanche Eliminator 2wd 4.0L 5 speed PukeGoat Factory Original
  14. I fix other people's cars all the time. I'm a USCG Licensed Engineer but that don't mean crap on vehicles. Simply a friend helping somebody out. If your gonna run a business thats a different story. Best body work I ever had done was a retired guy in his backyard falling down shop making some extra cash. If not fulltime a wouldn't worry about it. Be up front and you're lending a hand. If you don't do good work they won't come back and it's over. 89 Comanche Eliminator 2wd 4.0L 5 speed PukeGoat Factory Original
  15. Now you really will empty every pocket. Congratulations on your newest addition. 89 Comanche Eliminator 2wd 4.0L 5 speed PukeGoat Factory Original
  16. Gonna have to cut them off. Replace with heater hose and a hose clamp. Buy by the foot at any auto parts store. I deleted the valve there and converted to an open cooling system just last week. Cut the hose fitting, not the pipe coming out the firewall. You're gonna need that. 89 Comanche Eliminator 2wd 4.0L 5 speed PukeGoat Factory Original
  17. Y'all still have wood shop. They haven't had that in my area for 20 years. I had Ag Mechanics. Learned how to weld and work on farm machinery. Sadly that's gone as well. 89 Comanche Eliminator 2wd 4.0L 5 speed PukeGoat Factory Original
  18. 80s equals chrome. I'm still a fan of shiny chrome. Door handles, window vents, and side mirrors along with bumpers. Maybe even the trim around the windshield and door vent window, a Chrome grill. Now I don't know if all this came in any package together but I do remember seeing all these pieces on the Comanches. Oh and your light bar needs to be chrome or stainless steel. Lites are to be big round KC lights with the yellow covers. They now make LEDS in that style. 89 Comanche Eliminator 2wd 4.0L 5 speed PukeGoat Factory Original

  22. Lol, ours were built on the same day. My last Vin numbers are 547105. 99 trucks apart. 89 Comanche Eliminator 2wd 4.0L 5 speed PukeGoat Factory Original
  23. New heater bypass hoses. Getting rid of that pressure bottle. Hoses are hooked up to a new open radiator as well. It has been a full day putting this all back together. Only thing left is battery install and fill the radiator. But it's dark and cold so that's tomorrow's job. 89 Comanche Eliminator 2wd 4.0L 5 speed PukeGoat Factory Original
  24. Photo didn't upload 89 Comanche Eliminator 2wd 4.0L 5 speed PukeGoat Factory Original
  25. Piece by piece. Working around family Christmas commitments, it's slowly going back together. Had to reuse the old injectors as the ones I ordered have never shown up. Cleaned them and installed me seals. Next up all them vacuum lines have to find a home. Then install the new open cooling system. 89 Comanche Eliminator 2wd 4.0L 5 speed PukeGoat Factory Original
