  1. The first pic is your vaccum canister. Thats a good spot to have it up there and out of harms way. Originally it went inside your front bumper. I don't have AC and could care less to have it so I don't know what goes where exactly...
  2. Ahahaha! Thats so wrong! :beerhead:  http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.p ... irls+1+cup
  3. Ewwww, D35 :teehee: Get rid of it before it costs you money, or right after it blows up and you think about repairing it.
  4. Yah, thats on the highway. Once I get on the trail it goes way down after I put it in 4wd... As of right now, I am SUA and not planning on changing it anytime soon. The 8.25 was from a '91 or '92 XJ, I can't remember which the junkyard guy told me... Its soon to be replaced though by a D44 if my plans don't fall through ;) Nice looking truck, you have done a great job on it BBC Thanks a bunch, best of luck with your build.
  5. The more points that you put in the way of the moment exerted on the pipes by a rock or other obstruction, the stiffer your rails will be. In the same sense, the shorter you make your "standoff pipes" (from the frame to the outside of the Jeep), the less of a moment you exert on them. (Putting the pipes on the frame as opposed to through the frame is similar to putting a pin in single shear as opposed to double shear. Double shear gives twice the strength. :smart: ) I like Pete's way of doing it the best, It reinforces the frame and gives sturdier rails. I'm also liking this way because they seem to be the easiest to keep clean. A hose would clean the mud off of them in a snap. (As opposed to making them part of the rocker panel or just below it and having a tight gap that is hard to keep clean) All in all, its your call, but I know that when I fab mine up, they will be similar to Pete's.
  6. Pete, you sound like my MEEM 2150 "Mechanics of Materials" Professor. :wall: And to think that earlier on in the semester I thought I'd never have a good application outside of Civil Engineering to use this stuff on. Very Sweet.
  7. You are correct sir, everything was a butterfly image when I put my doors back together after I painted them... I've been having a similar problem with my passenger door lately. Turning the key in the lock on the outside doesnt push the lever all the way like it is supposed to, so I sprayed it down with penetrating oil and it seemed to help a bit... now it only gives me fits every so often as opposed to every time I had it locked and try to unlock it...

    4X4 BURNOUT

Too much money to be burning it away on concrete...
  9. I've had no problems with it other than when I set the pinion angle in it, I did it wrong. So to fix it and solve my vibration problems would mean to reweld it (Ive already shimmed it). Instead of doing that though, I am looking to just replace it with an XJ or MJ D44 that will give me more options later down the road with lockers and such... I've had no problems with it, seems to be working fine for what I use it for. Also the one I have is the weaker 27 spine version. Not a bad axle, I just prefer the aftermarket offered for the D44. When I was building mine, I needed an axle for the rear and an 8.25 was the easiest and CHEAPEST option I had I guess, but now its time for the next step. I'm also going to put an SYE in when I change the axles out... If you think you'll be happy with the 5" and 33" tires, you shouldnt need a stronger axle. ;)
  10. Nicely Done!
  11. With my 33's I'm running stock 3.55's. They work just fine, if thats what you have already in your truck I'd keep them. Once you add a lift, you should also add SOLID recovery points for all the other vehicles you'll have to save while on the trail
  12. Exactly why I sold my '96 S-10 and kept the MJ :driving:
  13. Good to hear
  14. Thanks Guys. I'll be putting my RE 1660 Trackbar on this week once I get the parts tomorrow and I'm planning a busy weekend for the truck. The Lake Superior Pro Rally will be in town http://www.lsprorally.com/ and I'll be out with the truck to get a good spot on the trail to watch that, then I'll be using the truck later that afternoon to pull a railroad axle out of my backyard, yes a railroad axle. Should be an impressive display of Jeep Power. I'll be sure to get pics.
  15. Very Clean Truck! Enjoy It! The 4wd swap isn't too bad if you ever want to turn it into an off-road machine. :brows:
  16. More pics of the freshly washed truck's present state:
  17. I never noticed a difference in the TB's between the two when I did my swap.
  18. I thought I had a bad RMS once and it turned out to be the three orings on the oil filter adapter. When I took the bolt that holds it on off the rings were shot. $1.37 later and my problem was fixed. Bad part is that I replaced the RMS before I found out this was my problem. I doubt its blow - by, but when I had blow- by it leaked down in the frame and came out of the holes by the tranny crossmember...
  19. I feel sorry for ya man. Salt Sucks!
  20. Any new updates?
  21. Shista!
  22. I hate to break it to ya but it took me a whole summer to swap in my 4wd setup. I know it can be done quicker but i have a hard time seeing it done in a weekend. I took great care in preparing all of my parts though as I went along and painted them all up nice and all...
  23. Aren't radiators brazed together? Whats the difference between brazing and gas welding?...
  24. I'm just under 4000, or at least thats what the junkyard scale said when I hauled some scrap the other day. Gotta figure weight of tires and bumpers in with my weight though...
  25. Trackbar has ALWAYS been my culprit...
