You most likely have 4.10 gears. Those will be fine.

OMG The Crewcab 6x6 Comanche
89 MJ replied to ThatJeepGuy's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
Also, for you bed, maybe look into taking two beds and cutting one right behind the wheel opening and the other in front of the wheel opening. Then you won’t need to worry about making sure the wheel opening lines up. That is unless you just stretch the stock one in the middle. Here is a a pic of what I’m thinking the best way to do your door would be. Not an MJ, but still relevant. Check out the rear door, except you would section the front of the XJ window opening in the front of the MJ door. -

I’m going to make a few suggestions if you don’t mind, use the front of the XJ rear door to give the rear door (door from the factory MJ) a square window. I say to do that because if you use the XJ door, it will look weird with the B-pillar vent because the CJ rear door is more vertical. -
looking for evidence of 3.73 gears ever coming in an MJ
89 MJ replied to Pete M's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I saw an XJ with 3.73s, but like everyone else, not an MJ. I also saw this FB know it all trying to tell Pete he was wrong. Pete, I don’t think you were wrong. -
That would look really cool on the roof of your Liberty. Just sayin

Cool! A local guy that I know builds 35-40 frames from scratch.

I like this idea.

What are you plans with it? Be sure to check under the carpet for rust. -

Most important upgrade though. Not even debateable. -
That is the plan, I’ve just been commenting on FB in case someone liked it then the motor work would get moved up in the timeframe.

Jackpot!

I’m seeing 2 dudes, an XJ, a XJ Waggy header panel and grille (I think) and a transfer case. What all did you get?

Sounds good.

I could check mine in my parts rig if you want OEM.

Cool! How does everything seem up there? -
Maybe. But a LWB Metric Ton would be better suited for my needs. I get it, I don’t want to make all of my labor back, but I need to make some of it back so I can buy a reliable vehicle for going back and forth to school, not that that changes the value of the truck.

Including purchasing the truck and two parts Cherokees I have about $6,000 in parts. On top of the $6,000 I have: $500 in tires $200 in axles and lift $100 in sandpaper, buffing compound, black plastic restorer, etc. $250 in paint (donated by a local business) $200 in wheels (I got for free, it cost $200 at the local junkyard for aluminum wheels) $10,500 for my labor (let’s say it is $15 an hour, which is cheap for a restoration shop, but I’m no pro)(I have about at minimum 100 7 hour days) $8,500 for my dad’s labor (rounded down)(he has at least 35 7 hour days at $35 an hour, as that is what he charges at his restoration shop) $1,000 for sandblasting that a professional shop did. A grand total of $27,250.

Ok, on the Facebook there have been people that have been looking for Comanches for sale. Because I am kicking around the idea of selling mine, I comment a picture of mine and give a short description, along with my price ($12,000). (I haven’t made an official post on FB trying to sell it because it still needs to swap the motor, and if someone is interested in buying the truck, I will swap the motor before I sell it). Many people do the laughing reaction about it, and I’m not one to get offended easily (I like guns and think most people in my generation are sissy’s to put it nicely, I’m 16), this though offends me a little. I get it, my price does seem high for a 31 year old Jeep pickup, but the price is on the rise for these trucks and to get one built the way I did would cost more than $12,000. Because of that, I am going to do a cost analysis and then I will put it in my build thread. Including purchasing the truck and two parts Cherokees I have about $6,000 in parts. On top of the $6,000 I have: $500 in tires $200 in axles and lift $100 in sandpaper, buffing compound, black plastic restorer, etc. $250 in paint (donated by a local business) $200 in wheels (I got for free, it cost $200 at the local junkyard for aluminum wheels) $10,500 for my labor (let’s say it is $15 an hour, which is cheap for a restoration shop, but I’m no pro)(I have about at minimum 100 7 hour days) $8,500 for my dad’s labor (rounded down)(he has at least 35 7 hour days at $35 an hour, as that is what he charges at his restoration shop) -$5000 for the labor someone will do on their own A grand total of $21,250. Now $12,000 seems cheap, right? And I get it, it’s hard to make money on these, but I think my price is fair. Long story short, people here are a lot nicer, and I thank you for that. Here is a pic of my truck:

I saw that. I want it! It would be great for towing a crawler or racing MJ to different locations.

Swapped the corner lights for nicer ones off of my donor and moved the front bumper back so it doesn’t look like it has an underbite.
