89 MJ

So I’ll need engine/dash harness? Or should I put the Renix TB and wiring on the 96 engine?

No, I’m putting my 96 engine and wiring in it. I’m just wondering what wiring needs to get pulled to basically make mine an HO MJ.

Looks fun! And expensive.

I’m pulling the engine out of my 89 to drop in my engine out of a 96. What all do I need to pull out of the 96 to swap the engine/fuel injection? I’m doing the 96 swap to rid my MJ of some of its current issues (it has a misfire and knock). I want to swap the dash and gauge cluster to the 96 style as well, is there anything else I should pull out of it?

Oh that’s my plan! if I do end up with an auto one, it’ll get swapped for a manual eventually.

I’d say it’s worth every penny. You’d be hard pressed to find a nicer original. This looks like something that should be in @Minuit’s collection.

For now, an axle swap is nowhere on my list of modifications. How is does the ride quality compare to a an MJ or any other Wranglers?

Start with @cruiser54‘s tips and go from there. Be be sure to add it to the registry if you haven’t already!

I would love to have one, but they are out of my price range and the lockers need to be rebuilt in them semi frequently.

I could probably do it if no one else wants to. I’d just need to double check that my dash harness retains the factory radio plug-it has an older style aftermarket Kenwood unit.

Not yet, I’m coming up with a plan for what I want to replace it with.

This is why I want one now. Similar to the MJ, it will be an investment.

I’m thinking of buying an LJ. Before I start looking to buy though, I want to see what people who have experienced these Jeeps think of them. If you own, owned, or have any experience with an LJ, what are your thoughts on them? I feel like the only thing I’d miss from my Comanche is the truck bed, but I could get an LJ half cab if I missed it that much.
