Wish that was the case with their headlight bezels.

Someone ran into the same issue except with their oil pressure sensor/sender and they were able to remove it with some extraction method. Maybe you can try one of those bolt extractors if you have them?
-
Funny you say that. In the digital parts catalog Chrysler says the newer lower dash panels deleted that vent for better air flow but the block off plate is removable and the vent can be put back if the customer would like to have that back. I'm not sure when the change happened because my MJ is solid with the vent while my XJ has the removable version but my guess is the PO replaced the lower panel due to the ash tray hinges breaking? Just a guess. But it is still crazy to find some things laying around at dealers.

Some crazy things you wouldn't believe still lurk around at dealers. If I had say an AMC Eagle parts book or old Jeep and Chrysler books, I bet you i could find some dealer would have some parts sitting on a shelf and they'd have no idea it is sitting there. Like one guy at a dealer in Ohio had no idea he had XJ Wagoneer tails in stock and he is the parts manager and an MJ guy.

Tailgates are a pain to get dents out. I used a stud welder and I think I needed something to thread in and use a slide hammer on that as that metal is tough. I was able to get some top dents out using a rod and hammer and go in from the handle area but that's not applicable to where your dent is.

WOW....Can you guys build a whole new Jeep yet?

Honestly, seeing all this NOS stuff really makes me miss NOS parts hunting and getting really neat pieces.

Does your boss still have those running board parts or did those get sold off? can't wait to see what yall scored though!

Fuse Block instead of Fusible Links
eaglescout526 replied to Torq_Shep's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Hmmmm you got me thinking. I wouldn't know if their would be cons on this idea but I'm gonna definitely keep my eye on this one. I don't see why a small block wouldn't be a better viable replacement for the links but that's just me. -
Broken leaf spring...Standard longbed 4.0 1987
eaglescout526 replied to DC3's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Nope, I bought a whole brand new pack. They make new ones for us. Although the only problem I had with General Springs pack is the alignment stud was too big for the alignment hole so I swapped the old stud into the new pack. -
Broken leaf spring...Standard longbed 4.0 1987
eaglescout526 replied to DC3's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
General spring makes leaf springs for our trucks in both 4 leaf and Metric ton package. I had a broken leaf on my drivers side too, broke in the same spot as yours and I replaced it with one from general leaf and I noticed a difference. -
I would just use ordinary screws that will fit inside the holes and make contact with the metal on the housing and you should be good. I wouldn't worry about sourcing the jacknuts and doing it that way.
-
Depends on which set up you have. If it was dealer installed, I imagine they just used ordinary domed screws to hold it in place and they are course threads. I am willing to bet that only the factory used the nutserts. When I installed mine I just drilled two holes and used the screws that came with it.

What brand is the ebrake cable?

Opinions Wanted : Light Ideas?
eaglescout526 replied to mjfrancesca's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
This. Except you’re not going to find these lights cheap unless some ford owner sells off a pair cheap. I went with a set of vintage Sears Roebuck quartz halogens lamps which actually are now rare too. But any rectangle lamp will suffice and fit the 80’s look of our MJs. -
Carolinajeepman offers both 86 only and 87-92 font styles for the Comanche nameplate.

Is there any way to find out from where was first sold my Comanche?
eaglescout526 replied to TicoComanche's topic in The Pub
Reason why I never provided info about where it was sold. I can trust myself to not look at such info but curiosity can kill the cat. That’s how I was able to confirm my truck was indeed sold in New York from the hint of the Ellis Ford decal on my tailgate. -
Project: Cruise, a 1960 T-bird.

It is an interesting one. I was baffled when I saw under the hood that the master cly was missing but saw that booster under the dash. But in the FSM there is the more traditional booster we are used to today as an option. -

I can't explain it. It might be like that but here's what it is used as the booster: Its like a vac assisted booster like an early style of the boosters we have now. As far as the engine pics, I don't have. Still need to but it was really warm out working on the car that mine and my fathers goal was to put on the tires and go home. PO has circled the 352Ci as the engine with the car but I'm taking that with a grain of salt as anyone else could've circled that but Cop White is written in the book under the single tone paints. Jdog and I have been talking about the brakes and he recommends I do the 67 and up style master cyl which is the same Bendix cylinder used for many years and cars, but I'm wondering if I can attach the later master cylinder to this set up? -

So I got the tires on. Completely forgot to take pics but it’s getting damn hot outside now. But I got the keys today and opened up the trunk and found some goodies inside such as three hub caps/wheel covers, books about the car, and a few other pieces and such. Learned that is has power assisted brakes which is different than the power brakes we are used to which requires vacuum. Main goal is to get the car moved and running and driving and hopefully not spend too much to achieve that. Also this was in the trunk and should help me greatly: An original FSM. So I’ll able to decode the VIN and give y’all the specs. It looks like the PO circled what the car has but I’m gonna take that with a grain of salt and wait. -
I have no clue if it is available as NOS. I lost my dealer access back in early April. But if I remember correctly, they weren't available as NOS.

If you have the deluxe wiper package(intermittent wipers) the control box for that will be directly under the steering column(more or less around there) velcroed to the lower dash panel. Box is no bigger than the palm of your hand. Disconnect it and the plug the two wires together and test your wipers then.

Chunk, A 1984 XJ
eaglescout526 replied to eaglescout526's topic in Member Projects: Other Cool Stuff
That's the one XJ I want to have the build sheet for and the one at the OFM in Astoria has an 87 XJ that is almost a faithful recreation of the films Cherokee. -

It is. The XJ in the film is an 84 and my girl loves the goonies. Since the XJ is in WA, she got to name this one. -

I'm excited for this one too. Damn quarantine barred me from going up there.
