  1. If you want a grocery getter truck, back to factory is the best way to do this. You’ll need an MJ axle as that XJ axle, the leaf mounts are closer to the pumpkin than the MJ ones are. MJ axles are spring under axle or SUA vs the XJ being spring over.
  2. Anyone gonna watch it tomorrow? Supposed to be on PBS.
  3. I didnt know we were talking about the shield haha. both my Jeeps have it.
  4. It’s a vacuum actuator motor is what it is.
  5. Well ran into fuel pump problems again. Threw a NOS one at the unit and its been fine. Then the gauge rheostat gave up. Addressed it on sunday. Turned out it was a dirty terminal and the were crud built up on the float arm contact. That was weird to see. Got that fixed and now the gauge is right. Also had to move my roommates journey, used the XJ to tow it into the yard for a moment and man that 2wd low, best mod haha. Now I wouldnt do it over a long distance nor want to do it again.
  6. Oh my god, the previous owner used an XJ axle and used the shock mounts from it too. Actually I take it back, it kinda looks like they flipped the XJ axle the other way. Either way your rear end looks like it’s been bastardized.
  7. I mean the Chrysler covers go with that model year so, no complaints from me. It fits them well.
  8. Lol! Free speech exists here. But I felt dirty typing it hahaha.
  9. I might have a spare one.
  10. Sounds like that old model T sales pitch.. Though I hate to admit this but damn the buckets are comfy. My XJ has turned me against my MJ.
  11. Thats a damn good sign actually. Mine would do it, Id be driving and it would cough and sputter, press down on the pedal harder for more gas and it would clear up until the issue came back. I think you have a headgasket issue.
  12. Ouch. Coolant brown?
  13. This makes me think either head gasket failure or fuel pump failure or being intermittent. When was the fuel filter last changed?
  14. Ground is where I would check but if it’s been driving fine and suddenly cuts off, I wouldn’t put it past the fuel pump to have died.
  15. I just want to barrow one to get collect some info on.
  16. The rectangular one right? Not the square one that’s on the passenger side.
  17. I’m kinda sold on gettin one of these. $20k for a base bare bones modular truck that looks like an MJ. Slate is also headed by a former Chrysler exec which makes sense for the styling cues of an 80’s truck and the MJ.
  18. I still think 84 and 85 are the most under appreciated years of the XJ
  19. Power wire could be messed up. Verifying will require the ECU to be unplugged and verify continuity to the TPS from the ECU input and ECU output. Now I’ll admit, backprobing that damn plug sucks.
  20. Yeah that switch was discontinued back in 2021.
  21. Be very very careful if you can take it apart. There are 3 fingers on each contact rail, it is very very easy to screw them up.
  22. Is it the original TPS? I found out you can take them apart and clean the internal contacts. Aftermarket, it varies. Also A and B should get you the voltage from the position of the throttle opening, B and C should get you ECU voltage. A and B should be 4.6-4.7V at WOT.
  23. You sure? That pot can be adjusted pretty far.
  24. Lol hybrids work. I’d love to have a 229, 207 and a 231 as spares to see what I can mix and match.
