How close is it to the serp belt? AC or no AC? I have a couple pics of that area. Here is one to reference; (before AC was added)

That is entirely possible, but I wouldn't worry about it too much like I said. Its just a shock absorber that AMC put there for whatever reason. I know the engine can give off harsh vibrations with sputtering or leaving it in gear on deceleration but that's about all I can think of for that shock.

That shock is hard to find/irreplaceable. Just keep it and clean all the gunk off of it and it is good to go. Looks like it could use a degrease bath.

2.5L. Only the 2.5’a have that shock.

I helped in out with finding all those wires except two, the grey and purple. Could not find either of them in my 86 diagrams. But found out that the black one goes to the ebrake switch up to the light.

It would but it has the ebrake delete meaning it is an MJ console.

I have an update list from Chrysler in my signature. But it will probably show how outdated that is. Although that is a really neat book.

If the owner hasn't ever done Cruisers Renix tune up tips, then chances are it probably could have some electrical issues. But common issues all across the board regardless of Renix engine is grounds.

That kind of day huh? Well I have an 87 elec diagram we can consult and trace the circuit. Chances are the FP wire will go through C100 which is the bulk head connector for the front end.

This makes me really really want to clean up and do my rear diff but gearing is not my forte and don't want to risk it. But looks damn good to make me jealous!

Should be getting 12V out to the pump. You could always take it out and test it. Does your 87 have the C101? Want to do some FP circuit testing?

White lithium grease will work. I would just spray it on the big throttle spring where the throttle plate is.
