Mind posting a pic of the engine bay? Maybe I can see if something is out place. I also recommend a TPS adjustment just to rule it out as if it’s reading the position to dump more fuel in than what the engine can keep up with for the air ratio, it can throw things out of wack, and verify the fuel system is working properly like with pressure, no bad injector gaskets and fuel pump. I had the filter come off in the tank once and it made driving rough for me with loss of power. Has the fuel filter been replaced recently?

96-98 ZJ Steering Box in 87 Comanche
eaglescout526 replied to thousender's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Did this upgrade. It’s better than the XJ box we got from the factory and performs a little better. I had it rebuild just in case. But I like it and can say it’s tighter than the old box. -
No spark after known good cps
eaglescout526 replied to Tctv3's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
The CPS will tell the ECU to light off the coil and spark. That being said that doesnt mean that you couldnt have a blown fusible link or bad connections to the coil. The CPS can absolutely tell the ECU to fire off and it could very well be telling the ICM to fire but there may not be any voltage to the ICM. Hell the ICM could be fried too. But always check to make sure theres voltage before we replace anything else. -

Double check the starter relay and the fusible links and make sure those are getting power as well. -
Thanks. I’ll hit this one shortly.

Chunk, A 1984 XJ
eaglescout526 replied to eaglescout526's topic in Member Projects: Other Cool Stuff
Been steadily working around the house and what not. Kinda have a honey-do-list but except I made it! HAHAHA. But I have been doing little things to Chunk. Recently got the new Pack-con terminals in and fixed the 12v radio wire. Now the set up is ready for door speakers and we should be rockin like its 1984! I got the two front doors ready for a power conversion, I don't know I am going to do power window right away, but the plugs will be there when the time comes. Power locks is a definite though, gonna try to get the solenoids installed today or later. Gotta test them first. I finished yanking out the POs radio equipment, asked my dad what the passive crossovers were for, might keep them since they are vintage. I got a whole long list of to-do but mostly I am waiting on doing the floors which I need to get new pans for. No pics for today. -

No, its still an 89. The KL in the beginning of the last 8 designates it as an 89 model year MJ. I know its not an AMC made MJ but its still damn near close enough.

I’ve never had an issue with the plastic cover so much as the gaskets keep bulging out and ripping when I torque it to specs. Never any leaks to my genuine surprise. But anywho I’m not saying it’s not a worthwhile upgrade to go from plastic to metal valve cover, I myself just like the aesthetics and correctness of the original cover. Anywho I say do the cruiser mod and run it as a do it while it’s off than later. I’m pretty sure there is a diy for installing the new cover with the parts you will need and where to get them from.
-
It probably provides the same benefits as the 4.0L cover. Me personally I do not like the HO valve cover and a bigger task to get other parts for it to install it and get all vac routed, again thats just me, but if I was going down the aluminum cover, I would do the same mode thats done on the 4.0L's if youre gettin that much oil in the air box.

MJ foot brake in a 91 XJ?
eaglescout526 replied to The wandering FlederZiege's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Are you putting an e-brake pedal in an XJ? If so I don’t think the XJ has any mounting provisions for the MJ e-brake. Plus you’d need a different cable to go from the center console to the kick panel. I don't know if it’s a modification that gives any benefits for and XJ. And our parts are already scarce. -
C115 - ECU to Instrument Panel (and one other)
eaglescout526 replied to Gojira94's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
No it does not. When I made my cruise kits and installed mine, I used the GM dual vac switch for all set ups. It works the same way. Basically what most of the harnesses I have have is they have a clutch bypass plug(basically two metal prongs that plug into where the clutch switch goes) and it just relies on the dump valve at the brakes to stop cruise control(two stop shop for the system as it dumps vac and halts cruise operation). The clutch switch momentarily disengages cruise until the clutch is let go(hence the bypass prong). Plus the clutch switch is impossible to find at all for anything so it’s better to just have the auto trans set up. -
I have honestly no idea if I still have that cap. I’d have to do some digging around. I also recall GM coolant caps from the same era fit as well and have a more prominent coolant only on the cap.
