  1. Yeah join the club on finding that connector. It’s some weird AMC Chrysler connector that I have not been able to find anywhere. Same with damn pack cons. But a weatherproof 10 pin is probably wayyy better than what it is currently unless you’re a stickler(like me) for OEM.
  2. You need a total of 10 posts in the forum and the classifieds will open up to ya.
  3. Holy fricken crap!!!! Such good news I have!! So the radio I bought from @RustyRodder came Monday. Awesome! Toyed around with it and see how I can get it to fit the XJ mounting bracket. Thats gonna be a crap load of fun! Buuuuttt thats not the best part. So I yanked this hunk of crap out: I hated how the PO did this. Its not like he tried to hide this set up. Now granted it is a good set up but not something you add to an 84 XJ. Anywhoooo. I was yanking out the hodge podge of butchery and hacks of the previous radio and discovered the original plugs! I alread knew the speaker plug was there for a while now but had no hopes of fidning the other two plugs. Well sure enough a little extra digging and theres the other two pack-cons! Holy crap I said. Pulled them out, found the PO snipped the purple wire so now I have to fix that issue. That being said, I plugged in the AMC radio, plugged power into where the wire was snipped and the speakers I installed in the rear hatch staticed to life! The radio started blasting music so damn clearly! The original wiring is all there!! Now I have to find the door wiring and get those in place and mount the radio! Hot damn is this exciting! Ill post something in the tech to get yalls opinions on how I should go about making an adaptor to fit the radio to the XJ bracket.
  4. Ok hopefully the tank in your long bed is a 23.5 gallon tank, if so the sending units will swap over. If not, youll get some inaccurate readings if its a 16 gallon.
  5. Wait. The 86 2.8L had a FI sending unit and not just a sending unit for the gauge? Weird. But yes a short bed 18 gallon tank will not fit in a long bed without some sort of modifications. Course it might fit but only two straps are needed to hold it. But the 2.8L is a mechanical pump from the factory. Unless someone rigged an FI sending unit to work.
  6. Uh so apparently one of my lists now consists of parts that are/were at a now defunct dealer. Jasper CDJR doesn’t seem to be in business(or they might be under the name of tutton) anymore as none of the parts in my list are popping up in the locator. I will keep an eye on this.
  7. I will be working on posting them this evening and descriptions and where they go.
  8. As 89 MJ said. Just depends on how you drive her. Drive her hard and fast, 16mpg easy. Drive her like a grandma and you might see higher.
  9. Yup thats the one. Change form idiot light cluster to a 5/6th or a full? Theres few write ups on it but you need the right year cluster and the sensors for temp and oil. 84-86 have a different speedo connection than the 87-90 clusters but you can swap out the cable to the newer style and use an 87-90 clusters. Otherwise yes that fuel gauge is known to be a bit more sensitive to the fuel sloshing around.
  10. No problem! As for the bouncy gauge, clean your grounds and its also mostly the float in the tank that will do that. I guess you have the idiot light cluster?
  11. So if you crawl underneath, you will see the drive shaft and the fuel tank. The sending unit hoses and wires face the drive shaft. So yeah the lock ring holds it in place. Its an all in one unit which measures how much fuel is in the tank and has the fuel pump attached. No.2 is what holds it in.
  12. Nope. Thats the beauty in it. Remove the lock ring and the assembly should come right out. Now judging by the sounds of it, you have the 2.5L 4cyl correct?
  13. I would recommend testing the fuel pump to ensure it still functions. Fuel pumps don’t like to sit in fuel and in turn won't work. They gum up and can just not work at all just from sitting for so long.
  14. Lol I mean y’all could’ve also easily said keep ‘em. I’ll probably work on labeling the parts.
  15. So these days money seems to be a bit tight and it has been a long while since I have done a NOS parts dump since buying a house and all. Anyhow I have several and I mean several lists/word docs of the part numbers I have collected from my tenure while working at the dealer. Now I’d love to sit down and rescue all that I can from the dealers but it’s not feasible at the moment. 99% of the part numbers are Jeep/AMC parts that still float around. The other 1% is likely to be things for other Mopars. Would y’all like to see these lists and take a gander at the parts that still exist out there? I’d have to go through and label what each number is but there’s so many parts still floating around.
  16. That being said, this issue is only applicable to 4wd knuckles. I found that late 87 and what I can guess would be past 90 2wd knuckles don’t have the insert. At least the knuckles on my 88 doesn’t have them but the knuckles for the 86 2wd beam I have had them as they basically are 4wd knuckles with spindles in them.
  17. I would do both the cluster ground improvement and check the bulb in the cluster and make sure it’s contacts are good. In high moisture areas you could have some corrosion going on. And I'm sure cruiser will chime in and say to clean the connector behind the headlamp regardless as it is not a weatherproof plug for some reason or another.
  18. Has the EPA really gotten that bad? Ugh.
  19. Ha! You can’t tell me that this guy doesn’t know what he has when he’s got it valued that high.
  20. I have a set as well that I have restored if 500 MJ can’t find his.
  21. Like the bezels that go around the lamps on a factory bumper?
  22. 1J7FJ66L4LL199601 1J7FJ36S3NL199601 One of two options. its either a 90 or a 92
  23. Meh. Its just Peugeot pushing its euro agenda in the US.
  24. That’s unfortunate. Best part is that it’s a color that stands out so that’ll be an easy find…hopefully.
