  1. glad it's not just me. And even more glad it's back!
  2. Sorry for the late reply, site wouldn't load for me. Thanks for these. White, to boot! A truck after my own heart!!
  3. Just got back from tire discounters. Death wobble is still as present as ever, but I'm not sure how much a proper alignment will help. Truck is definitely in need of it. Guys at tirediscounters weren't very helpful when it came to wheel selection. They only use one site, and unless I want 20" wheels, I've gotta source my own. They only had 2 options for 15" and both were over $200 each. Thanks for weighing in! That's super helpful. Were your 33s 10.5s or 12.5s? Got any pictures?
  4. Hey, gang. Looking to upgrade the wheels and tires that came on my Manche. Thankfully, I've got a pretty good idea of what I'd like, but my tirediscounters didn't seem all too willing to help me when it came to specifications. Looking at a set of BFG AT KO2s in either 32.5 or 33.5, with some simple steel d hole steel wheels in black. I know the lug pattern is 5x4.5, and the thread pitch is 1.2x20 RH. But beyond that, is there any good way to figure out the backspacing and offset that would be best? Truck has 31s on it right now. Is there an easy way to measure a few spots to see if the larger tires would cause any issues? I checked for stickied threads to see if a tire how to was posted, but I may have missed it. Car can be seen here if you need photos of the lift/fender flares. Thanks!
  5. Happy to report that the used outer axle stub I got worked like a charm. Didn't even take an advanced degree in trigonometry to fit the ujoints in.... I sadly didn't take as many photos as I'd like, because I was over this job. Truck had been up on jack stands for the better part of a month, so I was just anxious to get it down. But I did find that one of my hub mounting bolts was completely missing, and that those brake caliper 12 points are just terrible.... But everyone went back together in about half the time it took to tear it down. Haven't been able to drive it yet to see if that'll cure the death wobble, but the first stop is to tirediscounters to see what my options are for wheels/tires.
  6. Forgive my ignorance, but what exactly is the process of doing a CAD remove? Is there a write up somewhere? You just swap the inners/outers with the $45 ones and remove the ABS ring? Can't be that easy....
  7. I doubt they'll follow up. Sadly, I didn't take any measurements, I was just about over it when I put it back in the box. Probably should have, but the newer one from C&M did look a bit different than the one I pulled off of the truck. the C&M had a flare on the inner edges of the yoke, and mentioned it was for a wrangler. No XJ/MJ mention, but it was a 40611. Used one should be here in friday. Crossing my fingers.
  8. I did, same photos I posted here, actually. They asked what ujoints I tried, then told me to return it. Let's hope I have better luck with the used one.
  9. C&M got back to me. Assured me that it should work. But I just can't be bothered to spend more than 30 minutes trying to convince u joints to fit. I hope if you guys try in the future, your luck is better than mine. Found a cleaner used unit, we'll see if my brain still tries to fit the square peg in the round hole.
  10. Have an email out to em, now. I actually initially installed the u joint on the inner first, before realizing it wouldn't fit. Turns out I can't return it once it's been installed. I figured there was a method to the madness. I've been playing with em for a while now. The original goes in fairly easily, but I can't even get close with these. I can't help but wonder if it's the wrong stub, but the box is right. So I'm really stumped. I suppose we'll see what C&M says, if nothing else, I can just try another from ebay.
  11. Dana 5260X u joints had the same problem. What am I missing here, between this outer axle stub and the u joints? Anyone got any ideas if it could be another stub? @howeitsdone@Pete M
  12. Yep, Dana/Spicer U joints were having the same problem. Assuming this 40611 outer axle stub is either out of spec or not what I need. Back to the drawing board.
  13. So the saga of the seized wheel hub continues. Ended up pressing the old u joint out, and grabbing a new outer stub from C&M gearworks, it's a 40611, so there shouldn't be any issues. But as with my luck with this front right assembly, there were issues. Bought some of the heavy duty Moog 365 u joints. Didn't fit. No worries. Installed them halfway into the inner axle, so I can't return them now. Rats. But not the end of the world. Pull those, order some FVP heavy duty 215-2060s. Same issue. When removing the caps, the base is too thick to allow one side to enter enough for the other to lower into the stub. It's close, but not quite cutting it. I've ordered some standard replacement Dana 5-260Xs to see if that fixes the issue. The old crusty ujoints fit just fine into the new 40611 stub, so I think it's something about the dimensions of the heavy duty ones that's throwing this whole thing off. Maybe the fellas were right about just upgrading these axle shafts to the new style while I've got it pulled....
  14. So, a bit of oddness. Bought this outer axle from C&M gearworks , a 40611. So far, both the Moog 365s and FVP 215-0260s do not fit into it. Maybe I'm doing something stupid, but removing 2 caps still doesn't give enough clearance to work the ujoint into one ear, before the other. Both of those U-joints are "heavy duty", but it is worth nothing. I'm trying a regular Dana 5-260X next, thinking it might be more narrow at the base of the caps like the old ones I yanked off were. Old ones fit fine into the C&M stub. So it's gotta be the beefier u joints. But a bit concerned. Folks over at rock auto must think I'm crazy.... They're not entirely wrong. I'll post pictures in my project thread. Just wanted anyone who stumbles upon this to know!
  15. Did all jeeps come with these? I've seen a few without. I assume they were just removed, as well. Does anyone have the correct measurements to use as a reference for those of us replacing ours?
