  1. Any 2.5L Renix ECU will do just fine. Since you have an 89, I highly recommend you stay within 87-90 ECUs. You can use 86 if you absolutely have to.
  2. I’ll have to help when I get home. I wish I had the TBI book on my phone.
  3. Have we verified we’re probing the right terminals? Silly I know but let’s start there.

  8. Just get a new one...connecting those wires back together via solder is not worth it, theyre too small to work with...unless youre good at working with wires of that gauge.
  9. Most sites say that. If the manufacture makes it for the XJ, chances are they have forgotten the MJ existed. I mean after all there’s only 18,000 left on the road which is very very small market. But you gotta remember, the MJ is based on the front portion of the XJ from the bumper to the rear of the front door.
  10. If I recall, the smaller one is for short bed trucks and the longer one is long bed. This being said I think I have a short bed on mine and it seems to be just fine……now this has me thinking.
  11. Should be, I remember comparing them at one point. I know I have some extra chrome handles somewhere but I don't remember where.... Lol perfect.
  12. Awwww, I really wanted to get rid of the ones I have. Haha. Hopefully that stud is in the door though. I can’t see it coming out since it has a nut on it from the inside.
  13. Yeah you could do exactly that. As for the missing stud, I don’t know recall if the plastic ones are threaded in to the handle but I know the metal ones are and chances are the stud your missing is floating around in your door. Unless it snapped off from rust.
  14. I have a brand new plastic handle I could send your way and you could use it to rebuild the metal one. The metal ones are very much rebuildable and worth to rebuild. I rebuilt the two on my MJ now before I installed them.
  15. I think I understand your question but you’re all over the place amigo. So you have your bar that has been freshly powder coated and you’re looking for lights that are within the correct era when the MJ was around. Well Marchals/Cibie are the most correct bust most expensive unless you know where a bunch of 80’s fords and Lincoln’s are to snag the Marchals from them. ROLs are period correct and found on 89-91 MJ and XJ. Blazer lights are found on 92-96 XJ and probably the easiest to obtain. You might get lucky looking up vintage fog/driving lamps on eBay. KCs we’re a popular option but they’re expensive too. Hella also makes some good lamps. I had both 550’s and 450 comets and both produced some damn good light.
  16. Wait? Your metal ones are worn? In what way? You can’t find metal ones except chrome and even then they’re expensive.
  17. Yes you’ll search for ECUs like that. So there’s two labels. The silver one is direct from the manufacture and that’s their part number. Also the date of manufacture can be found below francs. So that one was made the 25th week of 86. I do believe the part number changes and I’ll have to post the whole list to show you but essentially 86-90 is the same ECU. So you’ll probably see some different numbers and box’s that will say Renix or Bendix. But essentially it’ll be a looping range of numbers that are more so just tied to each model year. Hence why 89-90 got difference ECUs part numbers for the 4.0L than 87-88 but we also know they updated the program for the 89-90 ECUs there. Chrysler didn’t touch the 2.5L as it already was running at peak. The one on your ECU is a reman ECU. Shame they painted it and took off the original label, morons.
  18. What ever the highest trim for the KJ is. Catalog didn’t start getting specific until the FCA restructure.
  19. None out there.
  20. Oh I have a failed ECU. The fuel pump circuit doesn’t work and fails to prime and let the coil fire off a spark.
  21. Good news! You have a better range of ECUs to choose from than 4.0L guys. 86-90 ECU is basically the same. I think 87-90 is an upgrade for 86 Renix 2.5Ls as it does away with the WOT switch and relies on the power steering pressure switch to control the fuel ratios. Oh and auto ECUs are gonna be next to impossible to find so I wouldnt worry to much and I think the 86 auto isnt that much different from a manual ECU. Also youre ECU isnt original. It is era correct but it should have a AMC part number and should say made in france vs mexico.
