Yeah here random dying issue turned into a permanent one. I'm hoping I can take care of it from the top but will see what happens. Will probably fix it and get it ready to sell. She's pushing 175k on it and I'd rather not deal with a head gasket if it decides to go. Good luck on helping him out. Hopefully he actually tries to trouble shoot it and not fire the parts cannon.

If he's getting fuel pressure to the injectors it's not the pump. My wifes KJ just crapped the bed because the fuel pump went out. I can't hear it prime and I got 0 pressure at the schrader valve. Has he tried to start it in neutral? Possible neutral safety switch. Is he getting a spark? Last thing is does he have a key with the chip in it? I know sometimes if those go bad it won't let you start them. Like on the KJ.

Pete's 76k 2wd 4.0L 1988 Pioneer

Nice! What are the plans? Doing a true resto or resto mod or.....? -
It's not rocket science to cut them and really no need to have it "professionally" done. There are tons of right ups for doing it. Really will just depend on how good you want it to look after its done. IMHO here's the best write up for keeping a stockish looking rig. http://www.yuccaman.com/jeep/trim.html Otherwise some tape to figure out the lines you want and a cutting wheel. Boom done.

I just put a new windshield on mine. They are the same you don't have to use a rubber seal. Those are only on the 94+ IIRC XJs. I swapped mine to rubber because I think it looks a little cleaner.

Cool design but no way I'm paying $700. Let's be honest this is for the " quadratec" starter pack crew -
I like the star rating system. Feel like I'd be watching the movie for a friends 2 second clip.......

Those fn headlights are ugly AF. WHYYYYYY -
There's not really a "lift kit" for 37's unless you plan on just having a pavement princess. Get ready to fab and swap axles. You're venturing down the rabbit hole past 35's.
-
At least in CO you only have to renew "collector" plates every 5 years. But were dicks and only allow pre 75 vehicles to get those.......
-
I mean for $300 you're practically losing money not buying it. That's how about 100% of the conversations go in my head with jeeps.

Probably more power too 😁

Check with a local credit union. Most times they are able to do a "cash for title" loan. Tricky part is how to do it for a new purchase. It will require you to take out a personal loan to get the truck, then once you get the title in your name they can "pay off" the personal loan with the new car loan. I've done it a few times. Depending on your credit most times they will loan you the max NADA value. I can't speak to anything Ford as I've never/will never own one . People like them . They're going to be the cheapest trucks for a reason.

Best XJ model to use for 2wd 4wd swap
Smokeyyank replied to rockincrawler's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Personally, I wouldn't invest time or money in the 4 banger but that's just me. I'd swap in a 4.0 and move on, but again that's just me. People have done it plenty of times and nothing wrong it but for me trying to get up the hill the 4cyl just wouldn't keep up unless I was running forced induction. You could always just keep it in semi stock form and make a sweet street truck. You're going to have to run deeper gears with the 4 vs the 6. Not the end of the world if you're re gearing anyways but you'll be a little more limited. Highest you can run would be 5.13's which isn't really advised on the D30/8.25 but you can. Really 4.88's will be the max and with a 4 banger you're going to be capped at 33's maybe 35's but that's really pushing it. -
Best XJ model to use for 2wd 4wd swap
Smokeyyank replied to rockincrawler's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Umm.....depends. What are you trying to do? Full drivetrain swap? Just axles? -
My MJ was lowered before I got it. It just had chopped XJ coils and blocks in the rear. Mine was also 4wd and I just couldn't stomach a lowered Jeep, but eventually I'd love to find a 2 door 2wd XJ to autocross with. Anywho..... You'll want the 02+ WJ calipers, the akebono ones. For the bolt pattern just redrill it on the rotors, or buy 5x5 wheels if you're upgrading. No biggie there You can run a 9" in the rear and it will have a 5x5 too.

Best XJ model to use for 2wd 4wd swap
Smokeyyank replied to rockincrawler's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
98/99 are the best for the XJ's as a whole but not necessarily the axles. 97+ used the bigger ujoints on the D30 and still was a HP. Also 8.25 went to 29 spline from 27. It will swap but you'll need to reweld perches for the rear. If you're also needing a tranny and t case you're going to have to frankenstein it all together depending on what you currently have. -
2wd WJ swap should be the same. Other than axle shafts and a diff there's not going to be a difference between a 4wd and 2wd. Technically you probably could find a 2wd WJ front, narrow it, possibly notch it so it's not banging on the oil pan if you drop it. Guess it would just depend on how much you want to fab, etc. Here's a 2wd WJ front for reference. Look for the Jeepspeed builds. Few of them will run the D30 2wd fronts
-
One of the MJ gurus might poke in but my guess is the D35 aka boatanchor. Check and see and that will be the best starting point. If you are just looking for better braking and not doing a full on axle swap a WJ/XJ booster is a great upgrade.
-
Axle swap would probably be best unless you have a dana 44. AMC 20 is a solid axle but don't know off the top of my head if you can swap disc on. 8.25 swap and a disc conversion is super doable just need access to a welder to re weld the perches.
-
Short answer yes, but are you wanting to just swap the block or? It's not really just a bolt up and go affair. You're going from renix to HO.
