This was kind of the reason I offloaded my 88. It was in decent stock shape. I added the ACOS to get rid of the rake and put some XJ wheels on it. Looked great and drove fine. It was fun to poke around in but I really wanted to have something to build. I just couldn't chop up a decent MJ to go beat up. So I sold it and got a builder MJ that I will eventually cut up because of rust. If I only keep the VIN on it and chop the rest I'm not going to feel bad. Personally I don't think MJs can garner the price of say a well done J10 or other classics. While MJ's are rare and unique they just don't have a 20-30k+ following of people waiting to snag them regardless of mods.

Track bars and mounts (upgrading)
Smokeyyank replied to ghetdjc320's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
No I didn't have a cross brace on mine. I'd say if your pocket book and time allow go with Ironman. They build beefy products. I have the rear diff cover on my WJ and thing is beautiful. It took a while to get but well worth the wait. -

I ran the IRO double shear on my XJ. No complaints and held up well. Also got one on my WJ just different bracket set up. Nice they have the option to do a flex joint too. -
My wife has something similar but it's her MAC that caused the issue. Basically she just upgraded to the newest version for OS for MAC and it completely crapped everything out. Deleted everything and lost her Microsoft office suite. So now it's either pay for it to use it on her computer or use the free version on line with less features. As crappy as Microsoft is still prefer anything over apple products.

LJ's are awesome. I would say the last great Jeep, let alone Jeep, ever made. They are pricey for decent ones but are awesome.

Snagged some Lawson's Sip of Sunshine tonight. Had it a few times but typically only rolls around when GABF is here. Needless to say pleasantly surprised to find it. Definetly one of my top general IPAs out there. Don' mind the awful pour was trying to multitask and hold the baby.

Crewmanchie builds all of them... so far?
Smokeyyank replied to ComancheCrewCab's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I mean to each their own, but just a waste of a probably good MJ. Color isn't that bad, wheels are eye bleach worthy. I imagine it's got some angry eyes as well. -

MOOG, spicer and Crown all have parts to build your "kit". Like ghetdjc said, Not one of them has a really all and done set up. MOOG for most the steering will be a good choice just avoid the budget line stuff. Spicer for ball joints. Crown for some other things. Is your MJ lifted or stock? HO and renix difference is only in the engine. Axles is really either CAD or non CAD. Exception being 96+ D30 as it should have the bigger u joints. IIRC there was also something differnet with the knuckles and not sure if that would affect ball joint choices.

Ammo nyc. Not cheap but his products work amazingly well. I used a few things on one of my BMW's and the wife's lexus. https://www.ammonyc.com/product/ammo-reflex-pro-pre-sale/

Reloaded the kegorator. Picked up Coriolis effect from New Image. NEIPA style that is really good. I got through the Myrcenary quicker than I thought and hallelujah. Good beer but an awful keg choice. At 9.3% I'd have 4 and time transport. New choice is solid though. Crazy thing is the disposable keg it came in. It's like a giant soda bottle but with beer.

Brake upgrade for 1986 4X4
Smokeyyank replied to vamprobozombie's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
If you're running close to stock tire size no need to go for a Woodward kit. It's a lot of money for not a lot of added value, best bet is to get everything cleaned up and do the 96 plus brake boosterand possibly consider some black magic brake pads. There's a write-up in the DIY section I'm pretty sure for the booster item. in regards to rear disc depends what rear actually have. Best bet is going to be finding a liberty 8.25 with disc already You would just need to make it spring under the rest of it's pretty bolt on. Obviously we just need to find one with matching gear ratios. Other option is finding 98 to 99 XJ axles. -
I already got enough hobbies/money pits as is. Getting into .75-$1+ range a shoot just kind of sucks. Think the last time I bought ammo was 3 years ago. I remember a while ago when .22 was impossible to find and I couldn't for the life of my figure out why. .22s are probably my favorite to shoot because it's fun and cheap. One of my buddies just bought a lower jig (if that's what it's called) and reloading equipment. He spent a small fortune and that's his vice. Mine is still clapped out $h*t box jeeps .

Cool, thanks for the info. I'll try to drop into a archery shop and get some info. Was looking around google last night and may pick up a pistol crossbow at least for now. Cheap and looks like fun for plinking. And this is what sucks, freaking toilet paper all over again. I just want a few rounds and don't need an armory but unless that the route to go kind of stinks owning a gun for fun.

So I'm not a huge gun guy but I like to go shoot. I have a 9mm, few .22s and a .45 carbine. I don't hunt or go overboard into buying stuff. Just like to bring some boomsticks camping or wheeling. Well I'm really fn pissed off I can't find ammo anywhere. Stopped by sportsman's warehouse earlier and shelf's are bare. From talking to a few buddies that are bigger gun guys then me said it's been like that for a while and has compounded with recent government events which I think it's crap but different rant. Anywho as I meandered through empty isles muttering obscenities I came to the archery area stocked with plenty. So I got to thinking maybe bows might be better to have fun with then guns. Help at the store was no existent and other than 6th grade outdoor camp never done anything with a bow. So anyone know anything about bows? Good places to start? Pros cons?

4.7 is fun but a fickle mistress. Dropping valve seats and throwing rockers are in the future. It sucks but happens way too often. Keep it cool, let it idle before you shut it off and ya know deal with Jeep stuff.

Nice, 4 slow or 4.7? I have a love hate relationship with mine.

I gotta imagine 4.10's on stock tires has to be a torque monster. Probably can't do 55 https://boulder.craigslist.org/cto/d/hygiene-1989-jeep-comanche/7260562916.html
