All I know is people love them, they go forever and decent offroad machines.

And that's the thing. Tons are just overkill and going to kill ground clearance with 35s. I'm not going above 35s as anything above that is a bunch of work to fit on a WJ. In looking at the D50 doesn't seem like there are a lot of upgrade options and basically seem R&P as a D44 with D60 outers. I'll keep poking around. Thanks for the info.

So the WJ D30 is low pinion and doesn't really bother me. Issue is the CV axels up front and gearing. By the time you "upgrade" it it's not worth it. I have 3.73s now and they are fine with the 32's. Probably could be ok with 35's but 4.10s would really be a sweet spot. My MJ currently has built waggy 44's under it but they are too narrow. Ideally they would be what I'm looking for minus the width. My WJ does have the 4.7 and a lot more torque than a I6 plus it's just heavier in general. While I'm not planning to bounce it off rocks and mash through walls, the D30 and D44A just don't match what I'd really like. I have a lunchbox and it's sucks on pavement would rather have a trutrac or a LSD, don't really want to pay to regear and don't want to buy non cv axles.

Random question. I'm considering swapping axles on my WJ at some point. Reason being, I'd like to move up to 35s. The D30 and 44 just don't have a lot of aftermarket support and well they just aren't that great past 33s plus I'd like deeper gears. I do not want tons. JKs are out mainly due to cost. I know a HP44 and 9 would be the combo that would work but hard to find. Ideally I really like to find something that was full width and stock 4.10s. I was trying to see what axles may work. Figured it pretty much would be dodge axles or possibly a few ford's since I'll need a driver side drop. I did see these and looks to check all the boxes. https://denver.craigslist.org/pts/d/arvada-front-and-rear-axles-410s-lsd/7235182418.html So thoughts?

I feel for you man. We went through that last December. Not only are you crushed emotionally but the bills after are just a reminder and it sucks.

Because apparently this is what our elected officials think $600 will do. Would rather have businesses open and people paid fairly to the current cost of living standards but that's a different rant. Honestly, it will go to some bills. Between moving, having a baby, home remodel stuff and my wife losing her job this is a drop in a ocean. I'm with dzimm on the student loan/college thing. I was fortunate enough to work full-time when I got my undergrad and my dad helped me a little that I didn't have any student loan debt. My wife though went for her Masters and we are paying on that. What really chaps me on student loans is the interest along with soaring tuition rates. I don't think they fully need to be forgiven. It would be ridiculous to forgive someone's loan that went to Harvard versus someone that went to a community college. Even if it was something like a flat amount, it would be super helpful. I'd like to see wipping out all interest and not making them have a mandatory payback timeframe. Sure I'll pay $10 a month for the next 30 years.

Check out palmetto state armory. For the money probably some of the better ARs that really allow you to build them the way you want and give you a good platform.

Open ended question. Is it worth 12k to you? Does it have what you're looking for?Just glancing at the pics it seems decently put together and could warrant a higher price. I would also need to see the underside and rest of what's there. The tan interior and yellow aren't my jam. So to me no, not worth 12k but only because of the color.

Gogmorgo you got some pretty cool beers to try. Nice when you can have a can to sample versus a full on sixer but I hear what you're saying about the IPAs. Every tom, dick and Harry is brewing them but sometimes they hop the crap of them to cover up bad beer. I've had my fair share of bad ones. I do like pilsners but don't find a lot of good ones. When I was in Czech the plisners there were amazingly good. Just don't feel the states do them that well. I also don't hunt that hard for them. Keep em coming though love seeing what else is out there! I got my new keg tapped the other day. Odell Myrcenary, love this beer and was surprised to get it in a 8 gal. Stuff is delicious but dangerous. 9.3% and smooth.

The wife and I have actually considered doing this lately as our daughter has been a $h*t. 3 going on 13. Problem is when we tell her that santa isn't coming she says I don't care, I don't like Santa. So back to square one....

I was raised with German shepherds. My wife is allergic to life so we have to have these little fluff balls. Bichon frises. I'll admit I've grown pretty fond of them, but I pretty much love all dogs. Pic below is two we no longer have but were at the start of our relationship. My wife already had one and the other we got after our first house. When she said she wanted to get another dog I was excited until she said another Bichon. That dog ended up being my best buddy and went everywhere with me, unfortunately we lost him last year in a tragic accident.

I had to do some "homework" to see what I wanted to get on tap next. Most of the others I sampled were just bad with the exception what I'm waiting on. This was a option on the keg list but comes with a price. Topling Goliath's King Sue from Decorah, IA. Really good double IPA, been on my list to try as a few people have said it was good. Wouldn't say it's spectacular but pretty good all around. Think it would have been better with a fresher can. This was canned 10/16.

Buy once cry once. I'd go 4.56s. When I had 4.10s I always wished it was deeper.
-
I vote 4.56's for 33's especially if you have a auto. The MPG difference aren't t going to be noticeable at all, but general drivability will be. On my old XJ I had a aw4 with 4.10s and 31's that was a great combo. When I moved to 33's it wasn't, the low end was just meh and trying to get up hills you could feel the difference. Granted I'm at elevation with lot's of hills but even when Id drove it around town it was noticeable. 31's 4.10s would be fine 33's go 4.56.

Rustys VS TNT long arm lift kits
Smokeyyank replied to Clueless's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Both of those are raduis arms. So if that's your jam, cool, but may want to research more about radius arms vs 3/4 links. TnT is light years ahead of cRustys in quality. If you're looking for something on the cheaper side but want good quality look at Ironrock offroad. If you want the best ironman4x4 fab. Stinky fab is good as well. -
Yes, it is aluminum. All D44s under WJ's are D44A/HD with the aluminum center. The biggest plus it gets is a bigger R&P than a standard 44 beyond that nothing heavy duty about them. WJ D30's sucks as they are LP and have CV axles instead of u joints. Only decent part is the steering and brakes. Better off building a HP30 with a WJ swap or just going with JK44's or tons. As for the 4.7 the reason they aren't swapped is because they are stupid expensive to rebuild (ask me how I know) and reliability isn't there strong point. So while you have one that may run like a top now it's only a matter of time before you drop a valve seat and get stuck with a dead engine. As for cost if you think swapping in a V8 is cheaper than a stroker you'll find it's not, by the time you fab and figure out cooling along with the mess of the other stuff you'll be way above a stroker and deeper gears cost. Other than just wanting a V8 why even consider it?

Transmission Cooler Lines
Smokeyyank replied to Dammerung's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Yes, I also flared the ends for new hose clamps. Would also suggest the fuel line clamps versus the worm gears. Few bucks more but a much better seal. -
Junk it. If it was usable it would be. Take what's worth saving and scape the rest.

Meguiars. Comedy or action?

Transmission Cooler Lines
Smokeyyank replied to Dammerung's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Just bypass the rad. Run an external cooler and call it good. I've done it on my old XJ and my WJ. I live where it gets cold and never had issues. My WJ has a tranny temp monitor and the other day it was ~20* here, tranny temp didnt get above 125 and it was fine. Hasnt caused issues and historically never had issues.
