Thanks Pete, that will work. I’ll go with a bright silver/chrome. -

Wheel cap center logos
ghetdjc320 replied to ghetdjc320's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I think your right. The clear plastic has yellowed from the sun but here is a shot of the back side. You can see where the chrome plating from the turbine cap came off onto the backside of the badge -
Was about to finalize the design for the “Jeep” center cap logos to restore my turbine wheel caps. The original label was a very typical reverse screen print on a piece of clear plastic. The “Jeep” lettering was clear but I wasn’t sure if the base that it glued to was chrome or silver. Just want to make sure I get the right color on the “Jeep” lettering. The new ones I’m making will have a super strong outdoor adhesive and a thick UV coating with UV stable ink. Any input on what these should have looked like new would be great

Is the tailgate dented? I’ve got some major straightening and repairs to do to my tailgate also. On my last mj I was able to split the tailgate into two halves by removing a few spot welds. Was able to get it nice and straight by doing that and also cleaned up some interior rust (the tailgate is galvanized steel)

@Dzimm Makes the tailgate strap bumpers (second pic). He is listed in the vendors section and also has a website: https://zimmdakindustries.com As for the upper bumper, perhaps he could reproduce these as well

10 Hole Rim "Jeep" Center Cap Replacement Decals
ghetdjc320 replied to Lucas7667's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I’m considering running another batch of these. Found a nice local supplier that can make these with a UV stable ink and epoxy finish. I would be making just the original JEEP logo for my turbine center caps but they should fit a variety of original wheels as @Eagle pointed out. If anyone is wanting some just let me know. I can probably have a batch run in the next few weeks. -
Looks good!

D44 disc conversion
ghetdjc320 replied to ftpiercecracker1's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Is this going on an mj 44 or a later model 44? -
Sounds like the output gain from the head unit may be to high. Likely an internal issue. Are you using rca pre outs or speaker level output for your amplifier input? If your amp accepts both you can try swapping from one to the other.

Project “Tomahawk”
ghetdjc320 replied to ghetdjc320's topic in MJ Hardcore Tech: Epic Journeys to Greatness
Good to know. I’ve run the TS9500SR with much success before on my YJ and was planning to go that route. Not sure if stock tow hooks would still fit but I’ll look into it. I won’t be running them though as I opted for the bumper version with the built-in D ring mounts. Plus the boostwerks kit has tow points included. -

Went with the warrior 56051 1st gen bumper/bull bar. Since I’m running the boostwerks hidden winch setup, I was looking for a bumper that had a factory clean and period correct look while not having some receiver hitch or winch cradle installed in the center. It also needed to not look out of place compared to the factory rear step bumper that I’m running. The Warrior bumper looks like it could have easily been a factory option. The boostwerks kit is quite amazing. Every little piece of hardware or bracket you could ever need are in the kit. Powder coating on the brackets is very nice. It also includes some new tow attachment points in the kit. The boostwerks mount has a nylon style fairlead to prevent rope/cable damage as it spools in and out between the winch plate and bumper. The bumper itself will also get a nice fairlead. Not sure which winch to go with yet but I’ve had good success with Warn and even better success with Superwinch so I’ll probably end up going that route. I’m about a week out from digging in to this project. Completion eta will be 6 weeks so it will be very busy. But with 90% of the parts on hand already it should move fast. -
This is looking familiar 😂 Out of curiosity, did I you make the logos a glow through design?

Do you have an auto tranny? Could be the shift selector indicator lighting. 99% sure that’s an illumination circuit.

Center console light of some sort possibly? Almost all of the orange with black stripe wires were dash/console illumination of some sort. See if it comes on when the headlight switch is activated and the dimmer turned up.

Looks like pinion depth is a bit too shallow. The brass colored stuff is probably just the marking compound.

I’ve shipped a few vehicles. Keep in mind that most companies you will find are just brokers. Best prices for a reputable company that actually handles things end to end was from Montway. They did great with a couple of vehicle now and are very familiar with all the little nuances with auto shipping. If you post up on U ship, Montway will be one of the ones bidding but their prices are higher on u ship vs just going direct to their site. Just my $.02 for auto shipping

Wrangler JK wheels for my Comanche

Interesting, I’ve seen a lot of different tech on this regarding the proper offset of the WJ unit bearings in the xj d30. So you’re running stock WJ unit bearings with the 5x5 pattern? Any issue running this? -

Novak radiator just came in along with the triple fan kit. Unit is fully assembled which is nice. The welds look great. Interesting that the first fan on the hot side is larger than the rest. That’s a good design idea. The core is much larger than any other xj/mj radiator I’ve ever seen. -

Can’t tell from the pics but did you plate the frame area around the link mounts or just weld straight to the frame? -
