    That ain't salt

Be safe Jeff and glad you are ready to enjoy the calm and then wait through the storm, hope you don't have any ice damage to your trees. Buck.

    Spanish?

I imagine someone will chime in soon with the Spanish ability you need and yes you need to find someone who is fluent. I studied French and some of the literal translations I have heard over the years are hilarious and I am sure I had some faux pas that would embarrass me. One of my favorites is a student arriving to college French class and having to explain why she was late, in French. Her response was that there was a traffic jelly.
  3. Congrats! My wife just ordered it and we will make our daughter (now 16) read it but I am looking forward to reading it because I am sure there is a lot I will learn and hopefully use. Buck.
  4. Awesome build! I am in awe of this build but also am even more impressed knowing this is the 2nd awesome build you have done, well done and well deserved! Buck.
  5. Congrats from one original owner to another, you have a great mj and glad it has served you well. Ironically one of the upgrades I have done is the exact same aluminum overflow tank, great upgrade! I don't know how many caps I went through over the years, when I got a crack in the plastic tank it was the motivation I needed to get the solid aluminum one. Buck.
  6. Thanks for sharing, that is quite the project and you are doing an amazing job. Can't wait to see the back doors primed and painted, can't quite do the photoshop in my head but I already like the look and it also looks to be roomy inside. Buck.
  7. This build is awesome. Thank you for taking the time to share all the info and pics, looking forward to every step. Buck.
  8. Thanks guys for the kind words, I will credit a lot of it to the guy who painted it 11 years ago. Since it has had a garage spot for the last 10 years and I drive it much less, only 2k to 3k a year, it will last a lot longer than the original factory paint and the first time I got it painted when it was 10 years old, Florida sun wrecked the first 2 paint jobs. Buck.
  9. This is my favorite pic of mine.
  10. Great job on the bedliner, looks great! Buck.
  11. Yes, that is very impressive. Buck.
  12. Thanks Rich and 1987Comanche, I am thinking the truck will survive another 30 years, I hope I do also! Buck.
  13. That is awesome. I didn't think mine would ever get to 250k, now 268k but just a few thousand a year for mine, it earned its retirement. How much do you drive yours? Buck.
  14. Great build already, thanks for sharing and looking forward to some updates! Buck.
  15. Hello all, hope everyone is doing well, been a while since I have posted on my own thread. I haven't done much to my mj but wanted to share a few pics. I finally have a better pic of the back end with the wheel spacers. Thanks to Drahcir495 for my beefier sway bar, took a while put it on but well worth the wait. I believe it was off of a ZJ, great upgrade, thanks Rich! The pic shows the new sway bar, sway bar end links, new bump stops and Brown Dog motor mounts. And lastly, my 5$ thrift store steering wheel cover, brand new and still in the packaging!
  16. We bought a new Hyundai Elantra GT 2 months ago and it is my new daily driver. A few weeks ago I realized the last time I drove a brand new vehicle as a daily driver was when I bought my mj over 30 years ago. Since we got married in 2000 my wife has always driven the new car which didn't bother me, if a car breaks down I don't want her stranded somewhere by herself. The '04 Ford Escape was mine from '09 til now, our daughter gets to drive it to high school, 4 miles each way so it will be fine, we broke it in for her, lol, bought it new just before she was born and now has 242k. My wife's '15 Rogue is good for her and she isn't driving nearly as much working from home so that car will last a while. I really like driving a car again. I can haul stuff and it handles nice and has nice pickup.

    yakety sax

Sorry Jeff I could only last one time through the melody, that's enough of that tune for me for the next decade. I was wondering if someone just did a good loop but if he actually played that same tune for 2 hours that is impressive, just not enjoyable to my ears. Maybe I will use that as a motivation for my students not practicing...practice or I will have your parents tie you into your chair and play this. The threat of 50 pushups on broken glass is more appealing than having to listen to this. Thanks? for sharing? Buck.
  18. I am not an expert but have seen some posts saying an '86 firewall does not give clearance for a 4.0. It was changed the next year when the 4.0 was introduced to the mj. Something to keep in mind knowing there may be a surprise cost of "adjusting" the firewall. Buck.
  19. Great job on everything, thanks for sharing the progress! Buck.
  20. Easy for the rest of us to say but I agree with everyone else. Just. Buy. It. It looks like it is in great shape and that would be a good thing to do is get it and sit on it to get your ducks in a row, meanwhile it is YOURS. Buck.

    F**k salt

So lucky my mj only spent one winter in KC before I moved to Florida, the sun has done a number on the clear coat but that is much easier to deal with than rusting from the inside out. Buck.

    Any Musicians?

I am a drummer/percussionist in the Orlando area. Drumming is my main instrument but I suck equally on all percussion instruments and all styles on drumset. It was nice to finally have a gig again just 2 days ago. Fortunately I have a teaching studio so that has kept me going and has always been the biggest chunk of income for me. The main reason my mj has always had a topper is to haul equipment. I still use it when I need to haul a bunch of stuff for a musical or more than 2 timpani. I did cruise ships back in the early 90's, country bands in the late 90's and have been freelancing since then. Before Covid our jazz trio was hosting a jazz jam every Wed evening for 2 years, hoping that gets going soon. Pete, your post about the French horn is spot on. My wife played horn through school and that is how we met, in the college orchestra. She doesn't play but once or twice a year anymore but I can still hear her great tone, hope she gets back into it someday. Check out any recording of any piece with Dennis Brain on horn, there are stories of him having every horn concerto memorized but still asked for a music stand in the studio, it was for his car magazines! He was quite the car afficionado, unfortunately he liked his alcohol also, was asked once how he could perform so well while drunk, his response was that he practiced that way, so sad, he died at 36 in a car crash.
  23. Awesome sight, great advice, great moderators and so many differing opinions on many things but one great mutual interest, the mj. Buck.
  24. Thanks for posting Jeff and taking the time to give some insight into the person he was. May his memory be eternal.
