That's not factory, probably the plastic Weld broke and the po put screws in it to keep it together

You shouldn't measure at the wheel molding. You gotta ask yourself are you going to lift it more? -
wiggle the switch, if the light comes on its the door switch

ok, my guess is the starter relay, then the ign switch. but i bet its the relay

more info needed, what year and engine -
Ok you have three different issues here. Stuck on defrost is a vacuum issue, probably a broken line. The dash lights could be a blown fuse or bad headlight switch as far as shutting off you will have to see if it has fuel or spark.before we can further diagnose

wires shorted out somewhere, or shuttle valve is stuck

a metal tab with a single wire going to it, if you unplug the wire and the light goes out its the switch

It could be off and the switch is mis adjusted
