Yeah I would not even try the AWD route while stranded. Very unlikely to be anywhere close to an easy or quick swap.

I also got through to see the MidAmerican power outage report. Currently showing over 225,000 people without power in Iowa.. some news articles are reporting over 420,000 people without power in Iowa. Who really knows at this point.

Finally was able to get word from my family in eastern Iowa. Similar story there, trees down everywhere, fences blown over, house on fire down the road. One of my grandparents has a tree that went through their roof and another grandparents gutters blew off and disappeared and they lost shingles. Many business in their town lost roofs as well. I've also heard reports that some gas stations lost their pump awnings.

Jeesh. That sucks!! And yeah wind speeds were in the F1 tornado range. Sustained 70+mph with gusts over 90mph.

Definitely do.

That big storm front that is rolling through the Midwest is freakin horrific. 90+ mph winds. Tons of trees down, power lines down, and everything outside that wasn't nailed down is gone. It just crossed into Illinois headed east. Our fence got blown over and lost some big tree limbs. Luckily no damage to the buildings. Out at the family farm there is quite a bit of damage to everything. Hard top to the mother-in-law's Wrangler blew away and was found flattened in the field about 300 yards away. Pretty much all towns near me here in central Iowa are without power still. These pictures are after some cleanup of the yard.

https://m.facebook.com/marketplace/item/1731334797073211/?d=m I would absolutely love to get this truck but don't have the money right now. It's definitely got some rust but the price is right. For some reason I can't save the pictures to reupload here.

I'm not positive that there is much if anything you can retain from the Renix system. Your 96 isn't an obd2 one is it?

Just an awesome 98 XJ pickup, Calexico, CA - $14K
Dzimm replied to NHMJXJ's topic in Craigslist/eBay... i.e. Not Your Stuff
With all the attention to detail with the red, you'd think something would have been done with the steering wheel. At least a red steering wheel cover instead of gray. -
Stock height (or close to) leaf springs.
Dzimm replied to Psveritas's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
This^^^ Unless they are broken, rusted through, or sagged real low you probably don't need new springs. -
Just to clarify, are you talking about 97+ swapping it?

Ohh rust.., I've learned that unless you are just patching the floor in a few spots, walk away. I've been fighting rust on my XJ for so long and no matter what, it always comes back and gets worse. My MJs only required a few patches here and there and they are rust free with no sign of more developing. The XJ on the other hand has gone from a half-a$$ patch job on the floor when I bought it, to needing new seat brackets built, needing new suspension brackets and other major surgery in just a couple years of me owning it. Unless you plan on a full teardown and removing the multiple layers of rockers and floorpan, and spending months with the Jeep torn apart grinding welding and painting, just don't even bother with it. It's way more work than it's worth at a certain point. For the headliner removal, take all the upper trim off in the front and down the sides or at least get it hanging loose. Remove the dome light by piping the lens off, remove screws, and unplug the wire. Then pull the headliner out the lift gate being careful not to bend it.

Must have MJ upgrades for a cross country drive?
Dzimm replied to jazzyjeeper's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
If you aren't quite familiar yet with what's under the hood, grab a factory service manual (NOT a Chilton or Haynes, while these are helpful to have around, they are no where near as accurate and useful as an FSM). Otherwise as you go through Cruiser's tips if you come across something you don't know about, Google it for pictures and info. It's usually going to be more helpful to search under XJ rather than MJ as there is more info out there for an XJ but it's the same under the hood. You'll definitely want to be very familiar with what's all under the hood and what everything does before your trip. -
I'm assuming you are using an iPhone to upload the picture? What you've attached is in a high efficiency file format (.heic) that iPhones now use by default that won't open natively for anyone on an Android phone or windows computer. I can't get on the computer right now so I can't convert and reupload, can you or someone else please convert it and reupload so we can all see the image?

That's mostly going to depend on how many times it was opened, 48 hours tho is too long for most things. Most of your condiments should be fine, especially the ketchup and mustard. Eggs, milk, meat, ect is unfortunately a different story.

As mentioned above, 4.5" of lift on a Comanche does NOT require a t-case drop or sye. I personally have a 4.5" kit on mine and have flexed it out pretty good without dropping the driveshaft and no vibes even on the interstate. The key on these is pinion angle, worst case you will need some shims for between the axle and leaf spring. If you really want to do it, get an sye and don't even mess with the t-case drop in this case because if you are going to do it just because you want to, do it right. Also keep in mind an sye requires a new custom driveshaft, which isn't cheap. T-case drops are for the budget build and retain the factory DS. Now an XJ is a completely different story, those need an sye or t-case drop at even 3" of lift to correct angles. I had an XJ at 3" with a t-case drop, just needed some adjustments to the linkages and it was fine.

Yes this is correct for the AW4.

New Pads and Rotors Binding?
Dzimm replied to SoCalManche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I'd also check to make sure your pads are seated correctly in the caliper and try to see if its the front or back of the rotor that's touching the pads. -
And successful splashdown. The USA can safely fly astronauts again!

Bob and Doug will splashdown in about 20 minutes. 2:48PM Eastern time. Will land just of the coast of Pensacola, FL.

I quite enjoy history and stuff like this tickles my fancy. I did some digging and emailed the Brant/Farnham historical society to ask about the Walker Appliance store. Sounds like the Walker family was very involved with the village of Farnham. She sent some pictures of one of the Walker buildings as well as some information that are in the PDFs below. I copy pasted the info below from Patty at the historical society, if you are at all interested in the history side, PM me and I can forward on the email to you Chad R. Unfortunately - the building is not there today. However, the land has been put to good use -It has been replaced by a Park and Veteran's monument enjoyed by theVillage of Farnham residents and the local community.(The site of the annual Farnham Community Days Celebrations (not sureabout this year though with the virus situation). The Walker Family has roots that extend far back into our history. They owned a store on Railroad Avenue (that building still stands)andonce owned another store across the road from the photo I sent to youyesterday. (Not there any longer.)Some members of the Walker family were postmasters for quite a few yearstoo.John C. Walker (Probably the last owner of the Walker Willy's wagon?)washistorian an assessor for the town of Brant and also I believe Mayor ofFarnham for a time. I would have to reread some notes to catch up onand relay further, my history of this family. WBS.A.pdf WBS.pdf
