We need to learn lessons from the past... The ultimate theft deterrent, capital punishment.
-
Third how does it get into/out of the parking lot or onto/off a trailer? Would need some really long ramps.
-
Yeah shipping is the big kicker as Pete mentioned.

Actually went pretty good. Was a little weird mostly just going from hourly to salary. This whole Covid thing changed a lot of things but I got a few months in working at the office. Been working at home since like April. I definitely gained the weight back I had lost working second shift. Really need to get back to eating better and some exercise. My back doesn't hurt like I had expected it to sitting all day which is really nice. The working from home has been nice though as it's allowed me more time to work on other projects.

I'd be willing to do a 97+ swap again but being multiple states North of you doesn't make it all that feasible. I also don't have the time for such a project this winter but do have some questions for you to think about during your search. Are you providing the parts or would the person doing the swap need to find/purchase the donor XJ? What setup do you want to run for a fuel tank/sending unit? Are you looking to retain the current trans/transfer case? For paint are you expecting the person doing the work to paint it or having an actual paint shop do it? Is there additional things you want done while it's apart such as sound deadening or fresh paint in the engine bay? Any rust repair involved? You are going to easily double or triple your cost for this project if you pay someone else to do it, just be prepared for that.

"show truck" and "has a plow" don't go together...
-
That is a VERY good point there.
-
Looks like they are priced reasonably... Anyone have $50 million laying around?
-
Trust me, you don't want to touch rust repair with a 99-1/2' pole...

Why don't we just take our own island somewhere? Comanche Island. And fly the flag of the CC!

Mini beast is correct, use your free hand to grab and pull up on the window while you crank. If you can't get a good grip on the glass, you may have to take off the panel and push up on it from inside the door while you crank. More than likely your issue is going to be the regulator. They are pretty simple to replace and I'm sure a junkyard near you has one in an XJ you can grab. Just make sure to get the passenger side one and bring a drill with bits because they are usually riveted into the door. To install on your truck you can use nut/bolt or Rivnuts which are much more convenient.

I have this issue with the passenger door of my XJ sometimes. Just need to cycle the lock/unlock on the inside a few times while yanking the handle and it'll come loose. Quite annoying

I've seen pictures of this truck before. Isn't he a member here? -
I've got dozens of pictures of the truck from being stripped to painted and reassembled. For some reason I love the stripped look of the tailgate. Need to make a tailgate bench with patina.

Another "rust-free" claim. Take a closer look.

HMMWVs are freakin awesome. They are practical-ish, loud, uncomfortable, slow, rattle, shake, break down and can go anywhere.. maybe I'm just used to these things. The LMTV/FMTVs are cool but are way too big to be even remotely practical for a normal guy. Wouldn't fit in my driveway very easily and definitely not the garage. -

I'll take what's next to it for $6k -
That's a custom roll pan install. Probably an S10 rollpan that had the seams welded up and painted to make it look like it's integral to the bed. Definitely a clean install.

Yeah that'd be the D44. I think the u-joints are the same but yokes are gonna be different.

What's with the dials and light next to the steering column?
-
I have the exact same problem. Usually just open the window all the way. When latched it doesn't always squeak but still does often enough to be annoying. I'd agree the felt is the likely cause. Should be able to find some replacement fairly easily, will be a DIY solution tho.

Since turning 16 I have daily driven XJs and for the last few years a mix of XJs and MJs. Finally this year I bought 2014 Dodge Journey to have a nice, go anywhere and not worry about it, vehicle. I'm 25 now married and hopefully kids soon.

I was in for a few years, my dad even led the troop for a couple years. Got second in the pinewood derby. Was quite fun but still need to google how to tie knots. I had a buddy for a couple years who finished as an eagle scout. He actually lived through the 2008 tornado that went through the Little Sioux boy scout camp. His best friend was one of the 4 killed. Last year he moved to go to medical school, that day he decided to be a doctor and is now working on fullfiling that. There is an article from 2018 he did an interview about it, it's easy to find on google.

Glad to see it all finally come together!
