If your original headlight low beams work then no don't replace the switch. Are those LED? If so they won't work in the polarity is reveresed.

Could you post what the light housings themselves have for wiring on the back? You'll likely just need to tap into your marker/running/turn signal light wiring and run your own wires to these lights to power the running lights. That harnesses you show in the picture will plug right into your existing wiring and you'll have to ground the two black wires to the chassis somewhere. This will only run the headlights and brights though.

This is a never ending statement.. lol. Seems we all have an addiction or two.

Not that I leave the house too much anymore, but when I do - Phone, wallet, keys, pocket knife, .40S&W M&P Shield

I would agree with the suggestions above, start with a base rifle. I would recommend the Smith & Wesson M&P 15 to start with. It's a great rifle for the money. You can find it anywhere from $600-$800 depending on where you are at and what options it comes with. The base rifle at $600 comes with a nice magpul flip up rear peep sight and an A2 post up front. I've also seen them come fully kitted out so you have plenty of options. Get one chambered in 5.56 to start with. This rifle can run 5.56 and .223. (if the barrel of the rifle says 5.56, you can run both 5.56 and .223, if the barrel says .223, it's not safe to fire 5.56 in it.) For plinking, especially in times when you can't find ammo, I bought a CMMG .22LR conversion bolt for my AR. Its as easy as swapping the bolts and using the included magazines and this allows it to shoot .22LR as well so I don't feel so bad dumping magazines. I would honestly recommend that you use your 12ga for the primary home defense gun as you don't really want to be penetrating walls only bad guys. And as mentioned, the racking of shotgun should be enough to scare people off. This however brings me to a point with the 870, don't keep a shell in the chamber as these shotguns are not drop safe, meaning if it is leaning against a wall and falls over, it can fire even with the safety on. Just take the plug out and fill the mag tube. I keep my 870 loaded with 00 Buck and my AR with a full magazine ready to go in the safe. I've got my .40 on my nightstand for quick response.

That's absolute very worst case scenario there. It will definitely be worse if you add heavy bumpers and such but as long as you keep from high centering it, it won't be flexing quite like that. Any vehicle will flex some if you support it in the center. Adding stiffeners should make it stay straighter in this scenario but you'd have to decide if it's worth your time and money.

RARE 1970 Jeep Comanche-$60,000

Lol exactly my thought -
Sweet! Now I'm just curious what they are called..

The bed doesn't have drain plugs. I'm assuming you are talking about the oval things that sit just below the bed surface?

I will also wish you luck. I think those pieces are the most commonly damaged or lost ones. I too would love reproduction parts, I've thought about making a mold from my airdam but it's really expensive and labor intensive to make reproductions.

There have been posts about trim specific numbers in the past and I don't think they have ever gone anywhere. I don't think AMC/Jeep kept record of production based on trim. I will say that the Chief seems to be a fairly uncommon/rare one but idk how much so. Just don't see them much at all. Honestly with trucks this old, it's less of a question of how uncommon/rare it is, and more a question of weather it is worth keeping it original. If it's really clean (no/little rust or body damage), well maintained, and not missing any Chief specific parts (I have no idea what that might be aside from the graphics), then it would be worth keeping original. If it's pretty beat up, you'd be better off building it the way you want it.

The doors aren't shimmed properly, notice the door seams don't match very good but otherwise it looks good. To be fair, it's really hard to get the 97+ doors perfect, mine are noticably off as well. If you are looking for this kind of truck then I'd say it warrants going to look at it. I agree with Smokeyyank, the yellow on tan interior is not for me.

Tinker hub removal gone bad
Dzimm replied to All around mj's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I've did that on my XJ in the process of replacing u-joints. Lesson learned, unfortunately there isn't a way to fix it reliably. -
I am about to be 26, and with my wife we own an 1,100sqft house on a 1/2acre lot with a roughly 800sqft shop and we are completely out of space. We want to move back out to the family farm and build a much larger house to fit all our stuff and hopefully soon a family but ya know, money... If the world were a different place, I certainly could live off the land in a small cabin in the woods. I couldn't imagine raising a family in a tiny house but if it were me and the wife, we could certainly do it. We actually know an older couple who went from a very large house (2000+ sqft) on a big chunk of property to a tiny house on wheels and they love it.

I believe you are correct. I've never heard of the t-cases being different but haven't had a 242 to confirm. I believe there is a spline count change at some point in the production run so that may be a concern. As long as it's from a similar year it would probably match though.

Don't start hanging your head on it, just want to dig into it deep to make sure there aren't supprises later. My 97+ truck was wrecked as well, the driver's side wheel came through the floor pan from what I can tell. Still drives and does everything just fine. These trucks are unibody so even a minor accident can cause all kinds of wrinkles and tweak stuff all over the place, doesn't mean they are junk, just means you need to know what all is damaged and fix stuff that doesn't work such as your doors. Just don't expect to make a show quality truck out of it but will be a great daily driver or offroader. As far as mileage goes, I wouldn't be too concerned. The 4.0 is a bullet proof motor and the AW4 is a similarity reliable trans. I've never heard of an AW4 go bad. Worst thing I've seen go wrong is the solenoids but that's an easy fix. I also wouldn't worry about the motor unless it's knocking or making noises. As long as it's not overheated and the oil is changed you won't have issues for a long time to come.
-
Yeah that truck was wrecked in the front end. Get some pictures of the inner fenders under the hood and search the frame rails and fenders from under the front of the Jeep. Stand back a few feet and look straight on at the panel gaps for your fenders and doors as well as the gaps around the hood. Also measure the cab to bed gap on both sides. As long as you don't find anything crumpled or cracked on the frame or close to it, and it drives straight down the road I wouldn't be too concerned. There isn't much you could do about the crumpled sheet metal without putting it on a stretcher.

You can make your own but don't use a liquid that dries or it will be a PIA to get it back off. The factory gasket is just a piece of white foam that is sandwiched between the booster and firewall.
-
That's a rabbit hole... I'd say since you plan on doing a rebuild to your other one and assuming this motor is fine as is, stick to the basic stuff. I'd honestly just do a tune up and maybe the freeze plugs. If there is sign of leaks, then I'd do the oil filter o-ring, and valve cover gasket otherwise I'd leave them alone for a temporary install. I also wouldn't take the manifolds off unless the exhaust is cracked. Now the rabbit hole of course is that if you take oil pan off, you might as well do the rear main. If you take the valve cover and manifolds off, you might as well do the head gasket. If you do that much you might as well be doing a full rebuild of the new motor. I have been and continue to go down the rabbit hole with my rusted out POS XJ and I just can't stop...

We got around 5-6" here in central Iowa was it last last weekend I think. Only have about 3-4" left and will likely be gone by mid next week with temps in the 40s.
-
I did this as well on both my C8.25 swaps. Don't change the factory setup unless you have to.

Also probably not a bad idea to sleeve that tube for an off-road trailer. I'm sure they aren't too thick for use in a minivan.

You arent likely to find an HDMI cable for sale that is too long to work that isn't an active cable of some kind. 20-25ft is usually the furthest you can go before you start seeing issues. If it's an active cable it can go further but those get expensive. Converting to Category cable is the way to go for longer distances. I would recommend checking for windows updates, audio driver updates, and restart the computer and see what your sound settings show afterwards. It should be "speakers" for the output for an HDMI connection. I'm guessing its the one up top that is showing its not plugged in. Audio on windows 10 is broken I swear, especially with hdmi. I have an issue on my desktop where one program sound will go to the monitor (it's actually a TV), and another program audio will go through the headset plugged into the tower. I can get it to work properly but it requires changing the audio outputs back and forth and restarting the computer. Then usually my mic breaks once I get the audio output working how I want. I usually give up when everything at least works even if it's not the way I want it to.

Don't ask me what they all mean, I have no idea, too much for me to keep track of lol. That's pretty cool! I never realized how many dog sports there were until she started to do them.

This picture is almost 2 years old by now but from left to right: - Wrangler (mix of multiple small husky breeds and cattle dog) - Kado (siberian husky) - Marley (pit/terrier mastiff) we had to put her down last year. She was the best dog ever but had a multitude of health issues. Renal failure did her in at 5yo. - Drift (border collie) My wife's life revolves around dogs. She does multiple dog sports with them. Flyball, barn hunt, disk, dock diving, ect. Drift is the most decorated and knows the most commands out of the 3. He knows somewhere in the neighborhood of 40-50 commands and tricks. Currently she is working on hand-stand and backflip with him. I recently built a 10'x3' frame for my wife to display some of the better dog sport awards and titles they've received. Our next dog will be an English or a Working cocker spaniel and will be my bird dog.
