  1. When they sit the part on the counter I check it so see where it was made. If it 's China I tell them to try again or just shove it. OEM from the dealer are suppose to be superior to aftermarket but I wouldn't swear to it.
  2. Pay shipping, i got one you can have.
  3. Usually when a engine stalls when stepping on the gas it's because the accelerator pump in the carb isn't adjusted right, or as I saw one time, the passage was clogged.
  4. Took me a couple months to learn how to post pics. Now that i got the hang of it I think the guys on here wishes i would quit, Image Not Found

  7. I've been thinking about putting a SB on a LB frame and putting a storage box in the space between the cab and box.
  8. Talk about hanging onto your old puters. I've still got my first ones. Commodore 64, IBM PC Jr and IBM PS3. Any other hoarders here?
  9. The original MR 277 just covered the '86 MJ. first published in July '85. What the seller on ebay has done was take the '85, '86, '87 '88 manuals and combine them. Personally I think it's a good deal. Saves buying 4 seperate books and covers the range. The one advertised as covering '84-'87 covered both MJ and XJ. This one just covers the MJ.
  10. Weren't the Japs driving Toyotas when they invaded Korea in 1938?
  11. EBay is your best bet. Occasionally you might find one locally on Craigs List, but thats rare.
  12. Memories good, but to be exact 119.9in.

    Well Hi

Been thinking about putting a couple Caddy 500'S in my MJ. Steep hills around here. However can't make up my mind whether to mount them side by side, or one in front of the other. Welcome to the club.
  14. :agree: I get 22mpg with my DD. 2.5, AX4, 2wd, very heavy foot. Wears a ankle brace on the right leg.
  15. I'm out. Checked EBay and I got outbid at $700 so I'm out.
  16. Pat. Basically I want to know the mechanical condition of the engine. Mileage, Knocks, noises, leaks. Would it make the trip on it's own (not planning on that) or should be towed, trailered? I have several rust free bodies and I would be swapping everything over. Been doing some calculations. 2400 miles round trip, $3 a gal for gas=$480 so unfortunately not likely to happen. Depends on what the truck goes for. We'll see. Hoping for the best. Jim
  17. Reckon I'll be droppin Pat a note. Thanks Correy.

    Ebay Comanche

I just bid on a '86 Diesel Comanche on EBay. Is there anybody in Wi close enough to to check it out for me? Not interested on the body. Pics show a rust bucket. Just want to know if the engine and accessories are worth swapping into a rust free bod. eBay Hi, jimoshel! 19. Yep!. Them 2.8'S are really a POS. The one I just busted, was doing 85 passing a semi when it went. Only had 310K on it.
  20. Gotta quit making rash decisions B4 my second cup of coffee. I have a set but no loose ones. Wonder how hard it would be to get some Silver or Aluminum paint or even Gold, and just paint one? I got a '88 where the PO painted them to match the truck. Blue. Looks pretty good.
  21. 10-4 on all the above. Toyota's are dern good trucks. Comanches are probably the only thing on the road will beat one. :MJ 1:
  22. FSM. Only way to go. But each manual only covers one year. I have one for the '86, '88, 89 and 91. Pretty well covers everything. Chilton and Haynes are pretty good for reference.
  23. Good idea. I leave the engine in a car I'm parting out until I sell it, just so it can be started and run. Let the buyer know what they're getting. However when buying, I don't always have that option. Usually I will just avoid any engine I can't hear run but occasionally there is the situation where I wind up with a uninstalled engine and i don't know it's status. Not sure which I would hate the most. Selling a bad engine to a buyer or junking a good one. Actually I do too. I will not knowingly screw anybody on a car deal.
  24. Around here the average price for steel wheels is $15 ea. Aluminum is $40 ea. If tires are on them it makes a difference Are the tires useable or is there going to be a disposal fee? $5 per tire.
