  1. Been trying to think of a way to get around having the wheel cutout in the rear door. Can't use a front door because of the upper slant. Only thing I can think of is taking two doors, one front and one rear and cutting them in half, horizontally , and welding back together. Or use a 2 dr XJ, Then you would have the back glass to fool with.
  2. I would much prefer a 4.0 but the possible clearance problem is why I.m holding of on going that route. I have perfectly good low mileage 4.0, AX15, 231 in a '95 Xj I'm parting out. Maybe I'll go uot tomorrow and do some measuring. As much as I hate the idea, maybe a little tap on the firewall just may be the way to go.

    Uss Alabama:

Wonder what would happen if they pointed ALL them guns in the same direction and pulled the trigger. Roll it over maybe?
  4. It is in the fuel tank. It can be removed without removing the drive shaft but for the trouble just remove the drive shaft. Makes it a lot easier.
  5. 20 years ago, or so, I had a 60X80 shop with a 5 acre storage yard. Since then I've moved 5 times, downsizing each time. I have thrown away, sold, traded or gave away a small fortune in new, used parts. I have gotten so disgusted in dealing with people that I'm really not sure how I feel about it anymore. I once gave away a '65 CJ5 because the fella wanted it. didn't have any money and I took a liking to him. Another time I deliberately destroyed a freshly rebuilt 350 Buick engine still on the test stand. In front of an idiot that had p*ssed me off and I wanted to show him what he could do with his low ball offer. Right now I have pick up load of new parts, still in original packages that I don't know what to do with. Don't want to mess with trying to sell them. Don't want to throw them away. Guess they'll just sit on the shelf until I kick off and then the GF will trash them. Anyway I won't have to see it. Sorry for the long winded ramble but that's my 2 cents worth.
  6. When ever I start getting that too many projects, not enough time feeling I just go get another cup of coffee and play another game on the puter. Doesn't get anything done but I quit worrying about it.
  7. An S10 forum? That must be why i never thought of it. To obvious.
  8. How hard would it be to swap a 2001 4.3 Vortec into a '86 MJ with a busted 2.8, 5sp 4wd? I know it's a 90* vs 60* but don't know how the bell housing bolt pattern is. Got a chance to pick up a low mileage , cheap 4.3 is the reason for the question.
  9. Thought I had seen some pics of one that had been done. A sear ch revealed this. Think he goofed using a XJ rear door instead of a MJ. But still looks nice. Also looks like 6 lug axles. Somebody got a sharper eye than mine? 10. One of the dreamers. Only thing missing is the drive to start.
  11. Got a steep hill in the back yard I can park it on.
  12. Got it. It always helps when I take a break and vent. This morn swapped out a track bar on a '95 XJ. This afternoon was replacing a busted door stop on a '90MJ. Was doing it without removing the door panel. I'm running out of good window cranks and didn't want to ruin another one. Was working thru the hole below the the stop that the door wiring goes thru. Any way got it. And without removing the panel. The original rant was an accumulation building up over the last couple of days and I just let it out.
  13. There is no way in Hades anyone is going to convince me that Jeep doesn't have a skilled technician sitting at the end of the assembly line and his sole function is to start at the front bumper and scan every inch of every new vehicle coming off the line looking for easy to reach, fix parts. When he finds something easy to get to, he figures out a way to make it difficult.either by moving it behind something or designing a part to be put in front of it. Frankly I hope he breaks down somewhere in outer Mongolia with nothing but a screwdriver and pair of pliers and he either fixes it or perishes. :fs1:

    3.07 D44

Sounds like an invitation to me. Do you serve your prairie dogs roasted, stewed or fried?
  15. Doubt if it has anything to do with your problem but just to add to the confusion. Sometimes when I log on to CC or change forums the top 1/3 of my screen is black, with the lower 2/3 showing normal.

    3.07 D44

So what's with dropping the 3's again? When I'm typing the 3's are there. When it posts, they're gone.

    3.07 D44

Someday i gotta get organized, although I wonder why. Was out browsing thru my junk, er, stock pile and found a couple axle assemblies. One is a MJ D44 with 3.55, missing the left side axle and all brake hardware. Ring gear, pinion show absolutely no wear. The other is a D30 with 3.07 gears. So now do I strip everything off the 3.07 assembly and make a good 3.55 D44, or use the D30 and have a set of 3.07's? I'm not planning on doing a small block swap any time in the future so I see no need for a 3.07. Any ideas? Anybody want the darn things? Is a.07 really any good for any thing? :dunno:
  18. Nobody wished ol' Jimbo a happy birthday. But that's OK. Had so many never miss one. HAPPY BIRTHDAY BEN, YA'ALL
  19. It's easy to give advice. Me? I just park 'em an leave 'em.
  20. get the tires off the ground.
  21. So what do you prefer? A happy wife or a classic automobile? Ah, forget I said anything. A slip of the mind.
  22. No difference. All the same.
  23. The white trim on the instrument panel. Did it come from the factory like that or did you paint it?
  24. :agree: That too.
  25. I have a 20 ft cable on my remote which enables me to sit in the cab or where ever outside. If you want inside cab control, just open up the winch control box and wire a set of wires parallel with your remote cable, running them thru the engine compartment and firewall into the cab.
