  1. OK. The heater won't be on all the time. However water from the engine will be flowing thru it all the time. And for the last question, yes it will make a difference. If the water is flowing down, top to bottom, the the engine will run more efficiently as gravity will be pulling on the water, thereby taking some of the load of the water pump. If the water is flowing up, then the water pump must work harder, overcoming gravity.
  2. Yes. It will always be on. Or no heat, depending on how you eliminate it. It's purpose is to regulate the flow of water to the heater.

  4. Fella was watching a welder do his thing on a part. Welder finished and removed the ground lead. Guy picks picks up the part and immediately drops it. Welder asks him "Hot?" Guy replies "Nope. Just doesn't take me long to inspect a weld." :rotf: :rotf:

Nope. PW &PL were not standard in any trim package. Expensive optional only. Ah, On an off note there was a pristine black Eliminator for sale not to long ago and it had PW and PL. I would have given my left nut for that truck, but i found out after surgery it had already sold. :fs1: You were having your left nut removed BEFORE you had confirmed the swap?

  9. 1986 MJ, 2.8, AX5, 207 (I think) and 4.10 axles. D30 front, D44 rear. 3 in lift and 31:10.50 tires Got tired of seeing it just sitting there so I started the removal of the busted 2.8. Gave up on ever finding a diesel or a 3.4 for a swap so I'm going with a '91, or a '93 2.8 from a S10 or a 4.0, AX15, 231 from a '95 XJ. Got them all 3 sitting on the ground side by side and until I get the busted one out and sitting beside them I won't know which way I'm going. I like the idea of the simplicity, relatively speaking , of going with the 2.8. without all the emissions crap. I also like the idea of the newer and more power 4.0. If I could post pics I'd make a project MJ out of it. We'll see.
  10. 2 ways to do it. Remove the paint from the top and bottom of the post. Find the spot welds and cut them Replace the whole post. Or, Very carefully measure the damaged section. Cut it out Weld in the replacement. If you're good you can cut the replacement for a perfect fit. I always cut it 1/8 to 1/4 over and trim it to fit.

    Wd-41???? Wow!

With my luck i'd go to paint my truck and get that mixed up with the primer.
  12. I think I was 16 once. Not sure. Don't remember.
  13. Remember when we were kids and loved playing in the snow? Some of us just never out grew it. Went to get the paper this morn. Took the Jeep. Made it to the bottom of the driveway before burying it in a drift. Don't blame the Jeep. No snow tires or weight in the bed. Walked a mile back to the house and got the GF Dodge. Made it to the curve, 2 miles. Walked back to the house, fired up the tractor. The road seemed to be blocked with 2 stuck vehicles so had to take the long route. On the way back from getting the paper met the neighbor digging his Ford out of a drift. Offered to help him get out if he would help me get the Dodge out and drive it home for me. He did. Geez but aren't winter sports fun? Think I'll take up cross country snow shoe racing next. NOT!
  14. Sounds like the switch.

    Uss Alabama:

How do they remove the barrel, muzzle covers? Some how I can't imagine some swabby climbing up the barrel or a ladder to do it. That means either they lower the barrel so he can stand on the deck and do it, or they blow them off with the first round fired. Curious Land Lubbers want to know.
  16. Oh, I wish i was single again Oh how i wish I was single again For when I was single My pockets would jingle I wish I was single again.
  17. I found one for an '87 behlnd the seat back.
  18. Wonder if he would swap it straight across for a IOU?
  19. So how far are you willing to travel to get one? People who post their location gets more responses than those who don't.
  20. Don't have a family or friends to be hauling around. Just need a little more room behind the seat to stash stuff, and to be different.

Aww,, it's not so hot. I once challenged them to a duel. Them with their big assed BS and me with a single shot .22. They declined. Something about their BS floating abilities on North Dakota prairie. They did however, make a counter challenge. One hundred miles off shore. I declined. :rotfl2:
  22. ^ :agree: To both of the above. It's not easy stuffing a 3'X4' engine in a 2'X3' hole. But some of the crap they come up with is just asinine. I personally believe a hands on experience would give them some idea of what a mechanic goes thru and help them design a better product. The whole point behind Detroit is to sell new cars. Not working on old ones. Part of their education should be one day a week in a repair facility getting their hands dirty and hopefully learning something. I, personally will not buy a new car or truck. Not because I can't afford it but because i can't work on it.
  23. Sure glad I got a half dozen vehicles to drive so I don't have to make a quick decision on this.Appreciate all the input Pat an Mnkyboy.
  24. I like but there must be something wrong. It's to simple and obvious. Just jealous because I didn't think of it first. I really like the idea of a 2dr extended cab.
  25. Yeah. The thing is , Ive also got a '91 and a '93 2.8 out of a S10. I could drop one of them in with no problem and be on the road in a day. Just looking for a little more ooomph and reliability.
