  2. I'm a hundred miles S of Denver. Got a 'couple acres' so has some room to park anything you want. If I can be of any help.....?
  3. I've acquired 15 MJ'S over a period of time. The cheapest I ever got one for was a freebie. The most I've ever paid for one was $600 and that was in worse condition than any of the ones i got for $400, or less. The best deal i ever got was a '87 for $300. That was 3 years ago. Cleaned it up and it's been my DD since.
  4. Start 'em when they're young. I was only 12 when I learned to drive in my granddads 1944 MB. Been a Jeeper ever since.

Carfax says it's 141,XXX. TNX Don. I pretty well knew it wasn't 41,XXX when I first looked at it but since I only wanted the rear axle I never worried about it.
  6. Not sure but I think 1991 is the cut off. I've swapped '86 thru '89 clusters with no problem. The electrical plugs are the same. Speedo cable is different but no biggy. Either swap the cable or the speedo.

Got a new idler pulley and serp belt on it. Been driving it all over the neighborhood. Sucker runs good. Gonna see if I can't swap it straight across for a Jeep before I part it or sell it..
  8. I see no reason why it can't be done. The biggest problem being the X uniframe under the bed. Most hydraulic cylinders fit in that area. You would need scissor arrangement instead of a cylinder, or two pushing on the bed. Also either extensively modify the frame or build a platform and raise the bed a couple inches. Maybe six. If you leave the bed in the regular position you will have to remove or modify the rear bumper. Another alternative would be to mount the cylinders outside of the frame. Require relocating the gas tank. Plus all the things you mentioned. I just use a trailer with a hydraulic dump bed.

Still can't believe i got Photo Bucket to work.
  10. Spin by hand, or crank it over? Crank. Use the starter. Keep a eye on the plug holes and see if anything comes out. About 30 seconds should be good. Hold a finger over the plug holes. Check for a dead cylinder. If water made it into the engine the rings might be rusted. Also a squirt of oil into each cylinder wouldn't hurt. And ditto on the dry gas.

Got it. $300 and a 80 mile round trip. 4.2 V6, 8.8 and auto, 4wd. 41K miles. Was just going to do a axle swap but after hearing that V6 run going to do a complete drive train swap into a '87 MJ.
  12. Drain, flush the fuel system, tank, lines, pump, filters, Remove spark plugs, spin the engine over a couple times, replace plugs, add a couple gallons fresh gas and try it.

Got a lead on a '93 explorer. 40K, 4wd. It's 40 miles away so would like to know if it will work for axle swap before driving that far. Tried search. No useful info.
  14. A little Bondo, buff it out, good as new.
  15. I use a roll of toilet paper placed in a canister I took off grandpa's 1927 International farm tractor.

    Mothers Day

I would like to suggest to all the boys and girls here to give your sweet mother a nice cold pitcher of Margarita. After all, you're probably the reason she drinks.
  17. I got a '86 with an air bag. Wish she would shut up sometimes. Drives me up the wall.
  18. The door is always open and the coffee pot is always on for any CC member passing thru. Or good looking babe.
  19. My '87 waggy doesn't look half as good. But then I only paid half as much for it. :rotf: Beautiful find.
  20. Sent Ed a set of axles from a '95 XJ. When I had them out and laying side by side I noticed one was longer than the other. To even them up I cut a foot off the longer one. Thanks for the Brew Ed.

    Attention!!!

There is also the fact that personal bias will enter the picture. A police chief and/or DA can have an effect on charges. If a DA has a bias against guns he will push for charges and conviction. A pro gun DA will take the very same case and drop it or go for lesser charges.
  22. A rubber drive shaft will have 8-10 inches of stretch. It might work.
  23. For normal everyday driving, you're not going to beat the stock air filtration system. Why spend bucks on something you don't really need?
  24. To remove the tubing you will need a 7/16 or a pair of vice grips, depending on how rusty it is, or how long you soaked it with rust penetrant. For the two nuts holding the cylinder a 1/2 in, will do it.
