  1. Because of the scarcity of MJ parking brake assemblies, every effort should be made to repair the one you have. If that is impossible then consider switching to XJ hand brake assembly. Not really that hard to do and they are plentful.
  2. The handle must be pulled up. I have found it easier to remove the seat than trying to work on it still in the truck. Usually the problem is it gets full of gunk and must be cleaned and lubed.

    Ax4/5

When did they quit installing AX4/5'S in jeeps? I just drug in a '96 XJ with a 2.5, 4;10 axle and what looks like a AX4. I thought they had quit using them by now.
  4. We don't have smog tests in Pueblo. My lil bro in Aurora does. He flunked twice, then called me for suggestions. The hotter a engine is, the better chance it will have of passing. I suggested he experiment with placing different sizes of cardboard in front of his radiator until the temp needle would just touch the red zone. He did. He passed first time. Just a thought.
  5. Are you the same Bob Bodger that borrowed a rifle from me back in 1848 at the Alamo when yours jammed? If you are I would like it back, please.
  6. I've got a short bed I would be more than happy to let them use. Just leave the prototype on when they're through.
  7. A wheel came off at some time on a PO, chewing the old studs up. He replaced them with too short of ones.
  8. And ingenuity!
  9. Nice looking bottles. Ya gonna paint 'em?
  10. Nice going.
  11. I do so much swapping around that I quit worrying about speedo gear. When ever I change something I just hold it at 60mph and time the distance between the a couple mile markers. Then I just make mental adjustments. Close enough for government work, and radar guns.
  12. They're trucks. Trucks are meant to work. 1st gear is there for a reason. Since the majority of MJ'S on the road today are 'Pavement Queens' and not work trucks they don't need the truck parts but since they're there, use 'em. . :MJ 1: .
  13. Without linkage how are you trying to SHIFT the TC? I would assume you're reaching up from underneath and moving, or trying to move the shift lever by hand. Is the lever moving at all? Is it moving into, out of all 4 positions OK? 2H-4H-N-4L
  14. Not enough information. A pic would be nice. Will the top of the TB be above, below or even with the top of the bed? How much, if any, clearance is needed for the lid to open, close. Any chance of using braces between the top and bottom of the bed and attaching the TB to them?
  15. Sensible reasoning. If you were moving the other way now,,,,,, Maybe we should start a MJ swap section, where people moving to different parts of the country could just swap their Jeeps instead of moving them?
  16. The non existent linkage isn't adjusted properly.
  17. I've got a couple dozen springs laying around but I didn't mark them when I pulled 'em so don't know what's which. Have any dimensions?
  18. Really can't tell by looking at a pic but it looks stock, no lift to me. Nice looking truck.
  19. You deliver? Actually I'm a big fan of the 2.5. They're great engines. And that's coming from a hot rodder who dropped 500 caddies in all his cars.
  20. I was wondering who it might have been. I can't imagine any of the regular CC members posting anything like that.
  21. That does look good. Be waitin' to hear how it holds up.
  22. They tried to enlist but got rejected due to low IQ score.
  23. I didn't BEFORE i started. I do now. One thing that made it kind of hard to figure it out is it got damaged while removing the old engine. I had the engine raised with the cherry picker and it wouldn't quite clear the header panel. I had the GF hook her truck up to the back of the MJ and as she pulled it backwards I was going to lift the transmission up over the panel Her idea of 'take it easy' was floor board it and go. The engine caught the panel tearing it out on one side and I couldn't really figure out how it had been attached.
  24. There is nothing wrong with using used components, AS LONG AS THEY ARE OK. Check them before installing. I would recommend getting a new drier and expansion valve. The biggest thing to watch for is moisture. If the system, or any of the components were open for any time moisture will condense in them.
  25. 1st; Tune engine 2nd; Downshift. My DD is a '87 with 2.5 and AX4. Does 80-85 on level road and takes a steep hill to drop it to 65mph.
