  1. I was just curious if there was a better way to use the search function of forums. right now it seems that you can only search just 1 word, for example "keyless" but "keyless entry" and get more specific results. am I just not using it right or...……?
  2. I think maybe it had something to do with the transaction you and me had ( I guessing ). I bought a gauge cluster from you a couple years ago for my MJ. also something else to consider is I stopped getting notifications when they changed the format a while back and I just started getting notifications again about a month ago. does that fit in with the timing of you receiving my posts? I just happy I'm getting CC posts again.
  3. good job hornrod! I quit 3 yrs ago (I'm 61)and your right about the first week or two, its rough. as you go forward the temptations will be many at first then subside over time. I still have moments but they pass quickly. I will say this, if you slip up and have a smoke don't beat yourself up about it, just restart the process again. it will get easier as time goes by and then you'll find yourself not thinking about any more. after a month or so it becomes a psychological game, just tell yourself no. having feeling better already is good incentive to start. bryce
  4. I was able to release the speedometer cable after forcing it in a better position. These are like the " child proof" type caps you see on some prescription medicine bottles. Thanks Eagle for the great info...... I could of swore I saw a "one retainer clip" on some video sometime, oh well. Tomorrow I will tackle the shift indicator wire. Any ideas on how to get it unhooked? Thanks again
  5. how many different speedo cable retainers are they? I'm only aware of two, the single clip 84-86, and the single push to release87-90?. this one doesn't seem fit in those two. I can spin it around freely, doesn't seem to be stuck or anything. this thing really has me stumped. I hate to have to cut the cable. does anyone recognize this type of fitting?
  6. no cruise control, ( but maybe down the road ) I've been pinching what looks like the retainers, but they seem be not functioning all together. they've been in there since 88 I guess so maybe your right. I'll stick to it. thanks for all the input.
  7. tried that already. apparently the trans indicator cable is still hooked up and restricting movement to see at either end how to unhooked it. can't quite get in there to see what is necessary to unhook the cable. I'm not as bendable as I used to be, LOL.
  8. yeah, I have somewhat good access to the thing. I just can't figure out what exactly is holding it in place. I've seen the ones that have a single release. but this one appears to have 2, a 180 apart. thanks for chiming in tho.
  9. can't seem to figure out how to disconnect speedo cable from back of speedometer on my 88 mj, 2wd, a/t. Couldnt find any definitive posts or videos. There are 2 retainers ( I'm presuming anyway ). One you can't see. Trying to do gauge ugrade to instruments. So far so good until this. as you can see I haven't figured out how to undo the cable from the shift indicator as well. may go with Ididit indicator kit on column, not sure. I like the cut-out idea on the tach to keep the original indicator too. Thanks
  10. this isn't the first time its been listed. I saw this about a month ago. I live in Portland but I have no trailer or a place to work on such a find. but its tempting just the same. you going to look at it?
  11. where is this map I keep hearing about?
  12. Hornrod! you are the man! the piece was so dirty didn't see the numbers. didn't think about the different diameters tho, probably would have missed that anyway. great help as always, the CC site is a wealth of knowledge.
  13. need a little more advice, I've poured over some of the manuals and no luck. I'm replacing the speed sensor in the transfer case. when I removed the adapter to check the seedo gear I didn't realize that the adapter is offset. it has the 4 equal notches for the adapter retainer to lock it in place. due to the offset what is the procedure when re-installing the adapter? thanks
  14. yeah, removed connector to test wiring with volt meter (battery was practically dead). just checked on oreilly's store and saw a two wire sensor $35-$40, the three wire is not cheap. will just replace it and see if that doesn't fix it (secretly I'm hoping it does, I hate to try and trace the wiring). FYI is the command trac different than the 242 when it comes to speed sensor?
  15. I have a 92 xj w/aw4, command trac. I'm currently getting a engine code "not reading speed sensor" I see that your post states a 3-wire sensor, I have a 2-wire sensor (no cable). good it be exclusive to the command trac? I might have to change mine as soon as I can figure out how to test it.
  16. Yeah, I checked every box I could check. Subscribed to one forum to see if it woked, that was 2 days ago. No go, There must be some glitch or something. What I don't get is why it works for some and not others. I use a tablet instead of a phone. Not to hip on the tapatalk either, like to keep things simple I guess. Bryce
  17. Yea, tried the resub and nothing. I don't get any emails of any kind from the club. I really miss getting emails from subscribing to the forums. Is anyone one working on this? How is it that some members get emails and others don't? Has the process of subscribing to forums changed? Bryce
  18. Ditto! Still waiting for a reason, and keeping the topic fresh. Bryce
  19. Ok, transfer xj sliders onto mj brackets. Got it. Sounds easy enough, now just have to keep an eye out for some 2dr seats. Thanks
  20. What seat brackets would you use when going to replace the bench seat? When you say mj floor brackets, you refering to mj bucket or mj bench brackets? Do you even use any part of the bench parts when changing over to xj buckets? I haven't even looked or seen any mj bucket seats out of a rig.
  21. Re: email notifications The forums that I was following before the new update, I'm not getting any email notifications at all. Its says that I'm currently following those same forums as before, but no go. Am I missing something? Just wanting to let someone know is all in case of their are some bugs and what not. Other than that the site looks great!
  22. There probably a model upgrade over one or the other, like leather, or deluxe cloth or something like that. Great diagram tho. Saved a copy for future use Bryce
  23. Can you give the years the xj curved vs xj straight were used, and if one sits higher than the other? And if there are any differences between xj vs mj brackets. I've been keeping an eye for buckets with straight sliders. Was told the curve sliders will raise seat a couple inches. Bryce
  24. I really like your front grill look. Do you have a link you can refer me To? One that would have most of the details involved in the change over (electrical, mechanical, doner, custom). Bryce
