  1. Did they use Electric motors or just linkages? I know the other guys have issues with the motors sticking when not used often. My wife’s ‘99 Ranger one had to be replaced twice in the year we owned it till it was hit from behind from a Daewoo that slammed it from two cars back. The bed of the truck even dented the back of the cab. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Lots of interesting stuff in the close outs! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. I don’t know if I would do it today, but back when I was a broke student/single dad going to/from school and my water pump on my old Rambler wagon started weeping (they didn’t warranty parts) I put a screw in the weep hole with black silicone and got by another two years with it. The bearing was fine (remanned pump and not Chicom bearings) so I took a chance.
  4. I hope this saves my tag line. My Comanches: 2nd Louey 1987 SB Sporttruck 2.5L/AX-4 2wd (for now) 3.55 D35 205/75R/15 with studs and new windshield and headliner. First Louey 1988 SB Sporttruck 4.0L/BA10/5 2wd (for now) 3.07 D35 235/75R/15 on steel wheels 90 MJ LB parts rig. 107K miles rustbucket from the belt 4.0/Auto with matching front axle for 2Lt.
  5. Sorry I was unclear. I meant something to Check the wheel bolt pattern because that rim comes in both 4.5” and 5” patterns.
  6. If you already have a good core with a bell housing, you could knock it with a hammer around that bolt and swap your old tran’s bellhousing on. Not much call for AW4 bells for 4.0L. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Take a spare wheel to match and be sure. ‘98 LTD ZJ had optional 16” wheels. I had some on mine a long time ago with LT255/85r/16s which are 33/10/16.
  8. They call them a damaged screw remover. Worked good to get the top one on Sarge when some clownfish had tried to remove it with jumper cables. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. No RH tail light, huh? I need one for mine. Parts truck will get stripped down soon. Someone with a BA10/5 is supposed to get back to me soon. Once the “new to me” other sport truck is rolling on the road I can start the 4.0L AW4 4x4 swap in the first one I got. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. Reverse drill bits with dogs outside the bit. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. A fool and his money are soon partied! Trying one last time to include picture. First time it posted twice, then 5 times then it disappeared. “It looks familiar but I can’t remember where I saw it?”
  12. Boy are you gonna hate what I have to say now. I have an ‘83 Shortbox J10 frame with a decent cab on it (no brow) that I’m pulling the step side and roll bar off for mine. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. I officially have First Louey in my possession (plus an 8.8 with 4.88 and Nitro axles with posi that I’m going to sell) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. 4wd 4.0L coils will lift the front a bit. If yours is like mine, AX4 and 3.55 gears SUCK for take off power after many miles and then add a load which is worse. So to add tall tires and try to take off on a hill? Fughedaboudit! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. Maybe someone swapped a 207 for the 242 or just the shifter gate. 207 is weak. It was a tiny gear drive in an aluminum case with shims instead of bearings. It was supposed to be NP208AMs weaker brother. Occasionally stuck in snow people could use it to get unstuck but not much else. It whines in low range like it needs cheese due to the straight cut gears. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. The position of the gauges was. 90 vs 91 for example. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. Looks like it would faceplant nose first if you hit the brakes hard. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  21. The Model 20 (86/87 Metric Tonne models only) And Ford 8.8 (Common swap) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. Keep in mind that between 08/90 and 09/90 (when the 4.0L HO came out) the AW4 went from 21 spline to 23 spline so get a Matching pair. That said, I wouldn’t discount a NV242 which has all the good stuff of NV231 plus an AWD position for mixed road surfaces. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. More that the gears depends what ratio it is now because there is a carrier ratio break. If you do it yourself then you’ll need fresh seals (pinion and axle), maybe bearings and a crush sleeve for the pinion. Pattern Matching yellow or blue. Torque wrench and watch a YouTube video on how to do it. I used a dial indicator the few times that I did it when it wasn’t an emergency thing. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. Finally got back after an adventure that went several days beyond intended. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  25. I set up a retracting cylinder with a pump inside. It’s made to auto retract with a spring but it hydraulically pumps out to engage the wheels with an ebrake handle to disengage it. If the wheels won’t go, they can’t go far. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
