  1. I find the aftermarket master cyls to be the same as dealer purchased ones. The main reasons for master cyl leaks is A: Wrong fluid (Only Castrol GTLMA in mine!) B: Clutch arm is bent so the pushrod is on an angle (went through 3 masters in a month till we figured that one out!)
  2. The purple is okay by me, but what do I know? I live in WA and I'm married to a Husky b*@$£! (Did that sound right? Until she had an injury a few years ago she was in damn fine shape from being a Pilates instructor)
  3. My home made snow chains for my 33/9.50/15s 255/85/16s (33/10.50) on ZJ rims.

    Baaah

In '02 on my way back from Ouray we passed through a herd of Elk (we slowed as we came to a corner in the hwy because we saw an old Malibu headed the opposite way with steam pouring out from under the hood and a headlight hanging. He had hit the biggest male and it was in the middle of the road thrashing around still when we got there) and saw so many bears, deer, antelope and other critters, it was like we were on a safari!
  7. Ditto on the Springover
  8. If it quits again, it could be the EFI box overheating (mine did because the defrost hose was blowing directly onto it) This was in the winter, after driving to Ouray and back (110 in the shade) without so much as a hiccup!
  9. The option for the spare is leave it off or throw it in the bed. I thought about redoing the exhaust and putting a tank on the other side. As for diesel, the Renault engine these came with is getting nearly impo$$ible to get parts for. I would do a VW diesel (grab a '79 DJ-5G with 2.0L like the one I have for sale http://www.comancheclub.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=12684&hilit=+postal+jeep&start=45 to get a RWD 904 auto trans or a '77-79 Gremlin for std trans which I think is an SR4?) or Toyota 2LT (they ran a similar AX-15 and a close version of the AW4) Other option is a Nissan SD33 (SD33t is faster!) which came in CJ10s and Scouts with a 727 trans. (It's adapted to a Mopar big block trans)
  10. Get some AMC car 2wd 15" rims (tough to find except on Matadors) Also the same as many Chryslers. I'm going the other way on my '82 Spirit. I'm putting an XJ D35 diff in (gotta love 1 piece axles!) and 15" XJ rims will tuck the tires back under the fender (axle is almost 3" wider at the WMS)
  11. I've been doing them dry (even the multipiece) for over 20 years with only 1 that leaked (I had put a little silicone on it, which made it squeeze out)
  12. If it's an '87 4.0L, then it could be 3.07. '88 up with 4.0L is 3.55. D44 didn't come stock with the 4 cyl.
  13. Did you wash the motor? Have the hood open during rain? River crossing?
  14. There is a tool that looks like a boomerang on a screwdriver for pulling them. I used a screwdriver on my 4 cyl last time.
  15. I've has a 33/9.50/15 and a 255/85/16 (33/10.50) on my shortbox ever since '02 when I bought the truck and SOA'd it.
  16. If there was another hose, I'd say cruise control reservoir (it's on the same bottle) I moved mine from behind the bumper (where it's easily mashed) to the inner fender. Went to a smaller vacuum ball too.
  17. It will happen if you get airborn a lot!
  18. Here's my compressor Image Not Found Currently powered by a Wisconsin single (electric start), which is about to be replaced with a slightly more modern Briggs and Stratton 12HP with electric start. A 1 wire alt will go on it to keep the battery charged up. (it's eventually going to be changed out for a small 4 cyl water cooled motor running on LPG which will generate power for my cabin and heat as long as it's running) PS: The truck it's sitting in is about to go up for sale. '83 J10 with 4.2L/AW4/NP208J with 3.31 gears and 33" tires
  19. And ZJs. Mustn't forget the ZJs!
  20. Worn wheelbearings?
  21. I can't remember if that means you add a shim or take one out (from behind the lower control arm rear bracket)
  22. If you pick up a can of electric contact cleaner (electronics stores or NAPA), you might have a 50% or so chance of saving the old TPS.
  23. Maybe the PO put in a lunchbox locker from Lockright? Those things ratchet on corners. (I have that in my '81 Chev with a 14 bolt rear diff)
  24. I'm on hotmail using Firefox. Prior to the latest upgrade it would automatically change the email address. Same thing is happening when I reply to yahoogroups now. I have to open a new email because it won't allow me to change the original "replyto:" line. I can add more but can't remove the original.
  25. I was thinking about doing the same here in Wa. Biggest problem is the 727 doesn't come in O/D version (it's a big block trans. Had they used a SB Mopar 727, an O/D A800 from an '88 Dodge truck would work)
