  1. Before I made mine 4x4, I had the 1 piece rotors (still have them tucked away to make a trailer axle one day) and thought about getting Rambler drum hubs to see if the rotors would pop on for the 4x4 version. Jeep changed the calipers in late '91 which is why some have to change over when converting to 4x4.
  2. $600 to tow it to your place? Over 100 miles I hope! I have a 2.8 '86 longbox awaiting time to play with, because I have an '88 Chev Celebrity wagon with a crate motor in it (I'll put the EFI and all in) If there is no knock, make sure it DOES NOT have an orange filter on it! It may keep on running otherwise!
  3. Especially for those of us on the left side of the country! We have 6 MJs here in my family alone!
  4. I opened this thinking "which episode of COPS?" :rotfl2:
  5. On my '87 MJ (stock 4.0L BA 10/5, 3.07 gears) I went to 33" tires. 5th gear became useful ONLY on flat highways! I went to 3.73 gears with the 33" tires and it matched the original tire to 3.07 (speedo read perfect) I drove it that way for several years till I tried 4.10 gears (WAAAAY too low! Lost all top speed and power!) If mine had been geared for 3.55 gears, it would've been a different story. The fuel curve was just right for the 3.73/33" setup (I averaged almost 20 mpg consistently)
  6. They are available new through Wakefield Sperling
  7. I need a pic of where the cable comes through the firewall. My '87 is at the point that I need to hook it up, swap the speedo assembly and put on the ZJ brake booster to be finished. I've been so busy all summer with other stuff I haven't gotten back to it since I got the cable back in what, May?
  8. I did a 6" front lift and I like the way it feels. I take corners on the highway faster than most ricers can. (it was so fun watching them try to follow me through the cloverleaf from I-405 SB onto I-520 EB in the rain. I'd zip round the corner and they'd go straight! LOL! Even funnier was a cop that tried to keep up!)
  9. I help people too much sometimes. It keeps me from getting my own crap done a lot of the time.
  10. I have the 241 OR from a Rubicon for mine (4:1 low range)
  11. Either quit driving around in low range or watch out for that neighborhood kid with the hose you have hanging around! :dunno: Actually, the coolant temp sensor (one screwed into the block for the computer and not the one in the head for the gauge) will give hideous fuel mileage if it's bad.
  12. Pilot bearing size is different early to late. The slave cyl is different BA 10/5 to AX-15 as well.
  13. bad high beam switch? Burnt out bulbs?
  14. ZJ sway bar is different. I'll be upgrading the tie rods, etc later.
  15. Seems they are all too busy worrying about "Homeland Security" that requires taking away little old ladies knitting needles and giving tickets for "speeding" while drug dealers are making sales 5 feet away from them. (watched 2 dudes make a deal while a cop was raking me over the coals for 5 over. Hope he got the deal on his dash cam and microphone because I kept trying to point it out to the jerk. I'm subpoenaing the tapes for court)
  16. I bought a cheapo Harbor Freight solr panel to keep the 4D battery that runs my cabin up to snuff. So far, so good.
  17. 18 mpg average '88 MJ with 4.0L, BA 10/5, D35/D30 3.73 with 33/9.50/15s (not 4x4 though. Finally have an AW4 with NP242 hooked up and hopefully runing within a few more weeks)
  18. Just the name cumpiss really turns me off!
  19. I wrote a 4 letter word in the dust that has accumulated over the past year I've had it sitting in my carport awaiting me to get time (and recuperate after the rollover almost 2 years ago that broke a rib)
  20. I have CV axles from a ZJ with V8 along with the steering knuckle and brakes to put on my diff along with the 242/AW4 I have installed (but not finished due to the broken shifter cable I recently got a replacement for, but haven't felt like working on due to inclement weather and 4 feet of snow that finally melted)
  21. Add a push button emergency start switch. If auto, then neutral safety switch. Stick can be the clutch disengage switch on the top of the pedal.
  22. I'm tired so I didn't read the whole post. Diesels came with both 23 and 29 splines (3 speed autos are 23). Count and save yourself a headache! The 4 speed auto changed the angle of the splines so they may not swap (@'97 the change was made)
  23. The 3 core is generally cheaper because they have far fewer returns on them. i-800-radiator and ask for the NAXJA.org discount
