  1. I use the email to load photos on photobucket
  2. The cat may be already empty. If that's the case (like it was with mine in '02 when I drove 150 miles a day to and from work) then the muffler will need replacing.
  3. Full size Jeeps use 23 spline as well and I think they are medium depth. I used a 1" (actually, slightly more than 7/8" thick) clocking ring from partsmike.com to bolt my AX-15 and AW4 (23 spline) to '80 up full size Jeep cases (NP208, NP219, NP228, NP229) as well as Dodge NP208 plus AMC Eagle NP119, NP128 and NP129.
  4. Pic shows it to be a donut, but I thought they had the manifold with it built in by '87?
  5. I like their YJ 1/2 door handles on my AMC Eagle.

I have 3 different browsers going often. Haven't tried the other 3 yet. That way I can do work in one, FB in another (AFAIK, it can't spy on the others) and personal stuff in the third.
  7. Check the tcase and bellhosuing bolts aren't loose
  8. The '68 Travelall I have had that problem. Someone glued the o ring to the housing
  9. <blockquote> > I like reading your posts because you often come up with unusual solutions by thinking "outside the box". Whereas most folks just change parts, you look at the bigger picture and try to find a fix for the underlying cause for failure, as you did here. Thanks for sharing. lockquote> You ever have to drive 5 miles through town with no clutch? It is an adventure. I guess it depends on who's box you are outside of..huh? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Try driving from 1/2 way between Seattle, WA and Ouray, CO and back (FSJ invasion. UPS lost the steering parts for my '84 J10 so we converted the Comanche to 4x4 and left the same day) up into the mountains (I gave up 1/2 way up Big Bear) and back. All because NO-ONE had an external slave cyl for an '86 MJ. I'd fill the master and get maybe 3 shifts before it was empty again. It didn't help I rolled over the scale at 6,000lbs on the way with the canopy, camping gear, spare parts (no clutch slave. Go figure?) and 2 teenagers. We ended up stuck in the desert for 8 hours because of a strike by the Utah government employees union. 103F in the shade and there wasn't any! A woman died from the heat in the lineup and last I heard they were sued over that. Also we were hit by a delivery truck from the company I worked for that knocked my alignment out and caused my first run in with death wobble. We destroyed all 3 spare tires and the 4 on the truck getting home (sunday).
  10. One issue I ran into was where it felt like the clutch master was running out of fluid when it wasn't. Previous owner changed the master and slave twice (2.5L '86) and gave up. I took a lid from an old master and drilled it for a tire valve (metal one for mags) then used my tire pump to add pressure while I opened the bleeder. That forced the seals tight to the walls and lasted about 6 months then it needed bleeding again. That master lasted about 3 years then quit. The next one didn't last 6 months. When I was under the dash undoing the rod I noticed the pedal wasn't pushing straight. I bent it so it was straight and didn't need to replace the master, but the pedal snapped off a couple weeks later. I put the one from my current Comanche in because I was switching to auto at the time and it was fine till I sold it 2 years ago.
  11. Keep in mind early Renix rigs take Napa 10-3085 timing set and HO takes 10-3041 but the difference is there is a 5-7 degree retard built into the HO set to reduce VE and NOx so they could get rid of the EGR valve. It incidentally increased HP and moved the power curve higher up the RPM range. The cam itself is the same till '96 or so.
  12. The "U" of the hanger is upside down in some of these. When I switched from stick to auto I ran into it.
  13. I would get the Dodge front setup brakes and all.
  14. I can read but there is no pic for it on that site.
  15. I noticed that 2wd and 4wd are inverted from each other or it could be a year difference.
  16. Bolts on the bottom of the column loose?
  17. Coupled with the craptastic Blackstone rads that had too small of cooling tubes.
  18. I just go with stock YJ hoses.
  19. I guess since I got so used to having a pressure gauge that I forgot. My '83 Cherokee blew the oil light switch off on the freeway. Luckily I had a case of oil so I got home, but the motor was never the same (Mexican 282)
  20. If you run it much longer without fixing it, it will self ventilate (ie: rod out the side)
  21. The solenoid on the starter could be worn out. Another thought occurred. Ground connector next to the coil may be loose. Have you tried jumpstarting it yet?
  22. They can look good and still have poor connection. If you wipe your finger across the post and there is grey paste, that's lead oxide and it does NOT pass power well. That click you hear will be it going over the amount it can carry and arcing. You'd be surprised how many people replace batteries when all they need to do is clean the posts and clamps (clamps can melt/corrode where they meet the cable too) They even replace their alternator or at least pull it off and have it tested when there is nothing wrong with it either, but the loose post can kill the alternator from it full fielding.
