  1. Should see if he would be willing to part with that nice rear bumper and save it for another project.
  2. Don't retaliate, this isn't middle school and as stated above it just escalates. Get a security camera and video recording system and if/when this happens again you will hopefully be able to identify the person(s) responsible.
  3. Looks like a good parts donor truck for another project to me.
  4. Will the closing of the Chrysler Museum affect the Thunderchief? I don't recall where it was being mothballed. Article: http://wheels.blogs.nytimes.com/2012/11/30/chrysler-museum-is-shutting-down/
  5. ^^ I like the idea. One of the JCR steering box spacers in conjunction with the JCR uniframe reinfocement kit should work, would it not? They are bolt-in and do not require welding.
  6. As a steering box brace appears not to be an option for us 2.5 guys, what then is a viable option to stiffen up the steering box area [which hope fully does not require welding]?
  7. For example, in the below pic from the MORE brace's installation instructions it shows how close it is on a 4.0. Image Not Found Thoughts?
  8. That was my thoughts as well, however considering the placement of the brace and how it comes close to the lower part of the engine/belts, would this cause interference with or hit or be in the way of the the radiator fan/shroud of a 2.5 or 2.8 coming off the engine?
  9. While pondering aftermarket parts, I began thinking about steering box braces- the kind which run from the frame of the passenger side to just above the pitman arm of the steering box- and ran across a warning from Rustys that they are for 4.0s only... is this due to fan interference for placement of the brace in a 2.5 and 2.8 equipped rig? Having no experience and only limited knowledge, I called Quadratec regarding box braces, pointing out the warning from Rusty's, and the salesperson stated it was because 4.0s are more prone to stress due to the larger engine and that any brace would work on any size engine.. but I have my doubts. Has anyone attempted to put a steering box brace on something other than a 4.0, or had a similar concern? Results?
  10. Drop the column from the dash for easier access to the top and sides of the column; it's only two nuts once you get the knee panel out of the way.
  11. The Jeep is not a pet; it does not curl up on the couch, ask to play fetch, bark or meow, nor do any of my other vehicles. Do you name your drill press? Hot water heater? Garage door opener? Alas, they are but machines just like all our Jeeps. On the other hand, boats and ships traditionally have names. Does your Jeep float in water? Mine doesn't.
  12. I don't name my cars/trucks/vehicles as they already have a name from the manufacturer. Besides, giving it a personified name only makes it more difficult to part with in the event of sale or something more catastrophic/unfortunate.
  13. For as low as a GMC Syclone is, I've rolled or two-wheeled them soooo many times on FM4. Fun game; many hours (days?) spent playing.
  14. Measure 80 was shot down in Oregon which would have legalized it beyond medical use. Only two counties had over 50% yes votes... Multnomah County [Portland], and Lincoln County [Newport].
  15. Voted via mail. No standing in line and only costs a stamp.
  16. well, that was huge.
  17. Sharp angle. What do you suppose it got hung up on, the transmission crossmember?
  18. I haven't thought of modding a factory bench, but have thought about a bar which goes across the back that has two headrests: This hypothetical bar would mount to the inside b-pillar, allowing the exterior trim piece to perhaps cover bolts which would hold it in place. Could be straight, could be wavy similar to a Miata rollbar, but with headrests. Consideration would have to be taken for seat belt mounting and interference. Alternately, a squared a-frame that bolts to the rearmost cab floor and the back wall which has headrests could be built. Just throwing some thoughts out.
  19. Lake Michigan today:
  20. Bad news stuff going on out there.
  21. Just take it to a truck stop with scales or a truck weigh station on the side of the highway, pull up on the scale and it'll read what you're weighing. It takes the guesswork out that way.
  22. Oh, the World Series was on, and is over? How this year has flown.
  23. Stay safe, east coast! Best of luck to you!
  24. Having just noticed this, I have no idea how long I have been driving with the column this way: I can shift my tilt column while it is locked in place slightly up and down, as well as left and right. My first thought was that the bolts which hold the column to the dash were loose, but upon further inspection it seems to be pivoting and shifting around where the column tilts. Is it worth the bother and time to repair the column, or is it more worthwhile and cost effective to just find a similar non-broken boneyard column to put in it place?
  25. I've been running Bosch Platinums for two years and they work just fine in my 2.5.
